The most searched skin concerns: Expert approved solutions

The most searched skin concerns: Expert approved solutions

by Jo Boyden on Oct 04 2024
When it comes to our skin, we all have our individual concerns, but how many of us have actually taken to google to seek solutions? And what skin conditions are people searching the most? Well we did a little investigating, and the results might actually surprise you, especially if you’ve been feeling alone with your skin woes. From rosacea and acne to hyperpigmentation and wrinkles, keep reading as we count down the most searched skin conditions on google this year and our expert solutions to tackle them! Rosacea As a supplier or some of the worlds leading professional products, it comes as no surprise to our team at BC that this skin condition is the most searched. Rosacea is said to affect up to a fifth of the population so if you are a sufferer you most certainly are not alone! To learn more about Rosacea, it’s causes and the best solutions, click here. Or if it’s makeup recommendations you’re after, you can find our expert suggestions here. Acne As the second most commonly searched skin condition, acne continues to be a leading concern, especially among younger demographics. I’m sure many of us have experienced unruly blemishes in our time, whether we suffered from pimples as an adolescent or if they have come to haunt you in adulthood, but many amongst us are prone to acne. What exactly is acne you might ask? And could you have it? Click here to find out all there is you know. And if you’re searching for the best makeup products to conceal and heal your acne you can find our top recommendations here. Blackheads Not far behind acne is blackheads. And yes, I’m certain when I say we have all dealt with a black head or two, or many more in our time! Blackheads are in fact a type of acne (acne vulgaris). They're open bumps on the skin that fill with excess oil and dead skin. They look as if dirt is in the bump, but an irregular light reflection off the clogged follicle actually causes the dark spots. To learn more about blackheads and shop our highly recommended solutions click here. Hyperpigmentation Hyperpigmentation, including melasma and age spots (also known as dark spots, sun spots and liver spots), is another frequent search, particularly as people seek solutions to even out their skin tone and reduce dark spots. The condition most commonly occurs due to overproduction of melanin, the natural pigment in the skin, which is why it’s often exacerbated during the sunny summer months (thank you sunshine!) However, it can also occur due to inflammation caused from conditions like acne, just what you don’t need, and while hyperpigmentation can be hard to avoid for some, you can definitely help reduce its severity by following a few key steps. To learn everything you need to know about hyperpigmentation including the causes and the best treatments click here. Age spots Next on the list is age spots. As mentioned above age spots are a common form of hyperpigmentation. They are flat, dark patches that commonly appear on areas of the skin that are frequently exposed to the sun (like the face, hands, shoulders and arms) this is due to prolonged sun exposure as well as ageing. Age spots are harmless they can make people feel self conscious. The great news is there are means to dramatically reduce their appearance with skincare solutions as previously mentioned.  The best skincare solutions include using broad-spectrum sunscreen daily to prevent further darkening, and incorporating brightening treatments with ingredients like Vitamin C, niacinamide, and hydroquinone. Regular exfoliation with AHAs (alpha hydroxy acids) or retinol can also help fade existing spots by promoting skin cell turnover and revealing fresher, clearer skin underneath. If you want to know the best products to treat your age spots click here. Whiteheads At the top of many people’s woes are whiteheads. Like with blackheads, I’m sure the majority, if not all of us have not experienced these little bumps many a time. Another common type of acne, whiteheads occur when pores become clogged with oil, dead skin cells, and bacteria. Unlike blackheads though, which as previously mentioned are open to the surface and turn dark due to oxidation, whiteheads remain closed, creating small, white or flesh-coloured bumps. They typically appear on the face, particularly in areas like the forehead, nose, and chin, but can also occur on the chest, shoulders, and back. While they may seem harmless, we know whiteheads can be frustrating to deal with, especially if they keep coming back. Luckily, with the right skincare routine, you can keep whiteheads at bay and maintain a clearer, healthier complexion. Just be sure you cleanse twice a day, morning and night and look for ingredients like salicylic acid, which helps to unclog pores and prevent new whiteheads from forming. Exfoliation is also paramount as it helps remove dead skin cells that can clog pores and lead to whiteheads. Opt for chemical exfoliants like AHAs (alpha hydroxy acids) or BHAs (beta hydroxy acids), such as glycolic acid or salicylic acid. These acids help dissolve the buildup inside pores, keeping them clear and preventing future breakouts. We LOVE the ProCorrective Clear Control Exfoliator.  Formulated with Salicylic Acid, Caviar Lime, Tea Tree and Rosemary, it provides gentle but effective exfoliating action to open and clear pores, combatting acne-causing bacteria. Dry skin I’m sure we’ve all experienced dry skin at some point in our lives but many struggle with this skin condition all year round. If your skin has been feeling somewhat tight of late, itchy and irritated even, or if you’re prone to dry patches and flakiness on your face, it’s likely you have dry skin too! But what exactly is causing your dry complexion you might ask? And why doesn’t your current skincare routine appear to be working to help counteract this condition? As we can see from the search volume, at #7 on the most searched skin conditions, dry skin is very common and can affect anyone at any age. Typically, it happens when our sebaceous glands don’t produce enough oil (sebum) and our skin in turn loses too much water. This is because our natural oils help trap in moisture to keep the skin soft, smooth and supple, if there isn’t enough oil, moisture can escape, leaving the top layer of skin prone to dryness. Unfortunately, the lack of oil production is caused by a number of external factors including genetics (thanks parents!), dry air or indoor heating, over exfoliating, long hot shower (who doesn’t love one of those!). harsh products, ageing and hard water (tap water that contains a high concentration of minerals including calcium and magnesium, this hard water can change the pH balance of your skin as well as leave a film over your skin’s surface that may clog pores, cause dryness and even trigger breakouts, itching and flaking! Ouch. When it comes to improving your dry skin we cant go past these top skincare recommendations from the experts.   Wrinkles Starting to see signs of ageing on your face? Worried about wrinkles? According to the google search you are most definitely not alone! In fact, wrinkles are a major concern for both men and women, so much so that wrinkle injections are a fast-growing market, accounting for almost 40% of cosmetic surgery procedures performed in the world, and 70% of aesthetic medicine interventions. But what if Botox and the likes aren’t for you? Are there safer, natural and needle-free alternatives that really work to diminish the appearance of wrinkles? In short yes! While there is no serum or wrinkle cream that can magically make wrinkles disappear in a week quite like Botox, thanks to the advancement in both technology and skincare ingredients, the natural alternatives can seriously achieve similar smoothing and plumping results. What’s more these non-invasive topical alternatives give you more control over the change in your appearance (no poker-face in sight!), provide a much more natural look, plus when used daily as part of your skincare routine will achieve outstanding on-going results. Want to know what the best products to fight skin ageing and reduce your wrinkles are? Click here.   Oily skin If you’re fed up with your face feeling greasy every single day, you’re constantly looking for ways to prevent your makeup sliding off your skin by mid-morning, or you’re simply over staring in the mirror and seeing a super shiny complexion staring back (and not because you’ve been adopting the ‘hyper glowing skin’ trend of late), it’s time to get serious about your oily skin condition. Despite oily skin being a nuisance, believe it or not, it’s actually not all doom and gloom! Oily skin happens when the sebaceous glands in your skin make too much sebum. Sebum is the waxy, oily substance that protects and hydrates the skin (it’s actually a blessing as it’s vital for keeping the skin super healthy and youthful looking) however, too much sebum can lead to oily skin! This in turn results in your greasy, shiny complexion and can also result in clogged pores, and unwanted acne if not treated! Fear not though, with the right routine for oily skin you can keep this skin condition of yours at bay!
10 celebrity skincare tips to keep you looking young

10 celebrity skincare tips to keep you looking young

by Jo Boyden on Oct 04 2024
Ever wonder how celebrities manage to keep their skin glowing and youthful despite their hectic schedules and long hours in the spotlight? While many of them have access to top dermatologists and luxurious treatments, their skincare secrets aren’t as out of reach as you might think! From A-listers like Angelina Jolie to beauty moguls like Kim Kardashian, keep reading as we reveal the best celebrity skincare tips that will keep you looking young!   Never skip sunscreen "Sunscreen every single day, rain or shine. It’s the best anti-ageing product out there." – Priyanka Chopra for InStyle Magazine It’s no surprise that one of the top celebrity tips is sunscreen, and for very good reason. Celebrities like Priyanka Chopra, Jennifer Aniston, Gwyneth Paltrow and Nicole Kidman swear by daily SPF to protect their skin from harmful UV rays. Sun exposure is one of the leading causes of premature ageing, including wrinkles, fine lines, and dark spots. Applying sunscreen every day come rain, hail or shine, can prevent sun damage and keep your skin looking young and healthy, if you read my blogs you’ll know I go on about it enough! For the sunscreens we highly recommend (with no oily, thick paste like formulation in sight!) click here.    Stay hydrated "The biggest tip is water. I drink a gallon of water a day, and I try to get as much sleep as possible." – Gabrielle Union for Elle Magazine Hydration really is key to maintaining plump, glowing skin, and stars like Gabrielle Union, Jennifer Anniston and Rosie Huntington-Whiteley swear by drinking plenty of water throughout the day. Keeping your skin hydrated from the inside out helps prevent dryness, reduces fine lines, and gives your complexion that sought-after dewy glow. Try to drink a minimum of 8 glasses of water a day and for that much needed added nourishment make sure you always moisturise morning and night! We recommend using formulations rich in hyaluronic acid. Hyaluronic acid attracts and retains moisture, plumping and hydrating the skin. In fact the molecules can hold 1,000 times its weight in water! This helps to reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, leaving the skin smooth, supple, and youthful. For everything there is to know about hyaluronic acid in skincare and our favourite hyaluronic acid rich products click here. Double cleanse skin for a fresh face "I take off my makeup with a cloth, and then I use an oil cleanser." – Emma Watson for Into The Gloss A clean face is the foundation of any good skincare routine. There is no point in applying your many skincare products if your face hasn’t been cleansed as the ingredients can’t work their magic and pores will only get trapped! Celebrities like Emma Watson and Kate Middleton love the double cleanse method—first using an oil-based cleanser to remove makeup and sunscreen, followed by a water-based cleanser to deeply purify the skin. This method ensures your skin is thoroughly clean, preventing clogged pores and breakouts. To learn more about cleansing and why it’s a skincare game-change click here.  Use retinol for anti-ageing "One of my skincare essentials is using a gentle retinol to help with skin renewal and keeping my skin looking fresh." – Hailey Bieber for Vogue Retinol is the secret weapon many beauty experts and celebrities, including Hailey Bieber, use to fight ageing. It’s the second most effective solution after SPF! Retinol boosts collagen production, smooths fine lines, and improves skin texture. It’s a powerhouse ingredient that helps maintain youthful, firm skin over time. If you’re looking to add an anti-ageing treatment to your routine, retinol is a great place to start but you need to act on the side of caution. To learn all about retinol and the best products click here.   Ice facials for instant tightening "If I wake up looking tired and puffy, I fill a sink with ice and cucumber and submerge my face." – Kate Moss for Stylist If you've ever noticed Bella Hadid's or Kate Moss' flawlessly tight skin, ice facials could be their secret. Applying ice or cold compresses to the face helps reduce puffiness, tighten the skin, and boost circulation. This trick can instantly refresh your complexion, especially after a late night or long flight! As hard as it can sometimes be to do because really who likes cold, it really does make your skin look and feel amazing! Don’t forget facial massages "I do facial exercises from one of my favourite aestheticians, Nicola Joss, who basically has you sculpt your face from the inside out." – Meghan Markle for Birchbox Meghan Markle swears by facial massages to keep her skin looking lifted and sculpted, and so do we at BC! Facial massages help boost circulation, reduce puffiness, and enhance the natural contours of your face. In fact there are 9 benefits of facial massage! You can incorporate a few minutes of massage into your routine with your moisturiser or use a face oil and jade roller for an easy, at-home massage. Exfoliate gently and regularly "I exfoliate my face every night. I use a scrub, and I love it." – Kim Kardashian for People Magazine Exfoliating skin is a must we agree! In fact there are 7 benefits of exfoliating. But we aren’t saying exfoliating your skin every day is for everyone, in fact over-exfoliation can do damage to your skin causing irritation and speeding up ageing – eek!  However exfoliating regularly helps keep your skin smooth, bright, and free of dead skin cells. But the key is to do it gently. Opt for a gentle exfoliator two to three times a week to reveal fresh, glowing skin without causing damage. Sleep on Silk Pillowcases "I use a silk pillowcase, which is better for your skin, and I notice fewer wrinkles in the morning." – Chrissy Teigen for Refinery29 Chrissy Teigen and many other celebs actually, rave about the benefits of silk pillowcases. Unlike cotton, silk creates less friction on your skin reducing the chances of wrinkles and breakouts. Use Antioxidant-Rich Serums "I use an antioxidant serum. I always think protection is key—moisturising and sunscreen are absolutely essential." – Angelina Jolie for Harper's Bazaar Antioxidants are a must in the routines of stars like Angelina Jolie and Cate Blanchett. These powerful ingredients protect your skin from free radicals, environmental damage, and pollution, all of which can accelerate ageing. Look for serums rich in Vitamin C, Vitamin E, or green tea extracts to boost radiance and protect your skin. Our top pick is Pevonia’s C Complexe with Oxyzomes. It’s an award-winning serum for instantly brighter skin.  For more on antioxidants in skincare and why these anti-agers are so important click here. As well as applying antioxidants to your skin, eating them is also a great option and a rich source comes from berries! Berries like blueberries, strawberries, and raspberries are packed with antioxidants like vitamin C and polyphenols, which can help protect our skin from environmental damage, reduce inflammation, and promote a brighter, more youthful complexion. Maintain a skin-healthy diet "I love to eat lots of greens and healthy fats like avocado and salmon. It's so good for your skin." – Miranda Kerr Byrdie Miranda Kerr is a huge advocate for a skin-friendly diet rich in vitamins and healthy fats. Omega-3s from sources like fish or flaxseeds help maintain your skin’s moisture barrier, while antioxidants from fruits and veggies promote glowing, healthy skin from within. What you eat has a huge impact on your complexion, so nourishing your skin from the inside out is key.   So there you have it! Celebrity skincare tips aren’t just for the rich and famous—they’re practical, easy-to-follow habits that anyone can incorporate into their routine. 24 beauty habits that are ageing you

24 beauty habits that are ageing you

by Jo Boyden on Sep 27 2024
Let's face it, we are all on the quest for radiant, youthful skin with many of us investing both our hard-earned money and time into perfecting our daily beauty routine as a result, but I’m here to tell you, that despite our best efforts the majority of us will still be making daily beauty mistakes, or following bad habits should I say, that actually add years to our face by making us look older than we actually are! Eek. From over-exfoliating to skipping sunscreen, keep reading as we count down 24 common beauty habits that could be ageing you! Remember it’s not too late to remedy this once you know the ones you are guilty of!   Wearing SPF only during the summer Let’s start with the most important habit of all, sunscreen. Not wearing SPF daily all year round is one of the biggest mistakes you can make for your skin. The suns harmful UV rays is hands down the no. 1 contributor to skin ageing so skipping your SPF is a no no. Yes, it's easy to remember to apply it when you're headed to the beach, or out and about on holiday, but so many of us skip this vital step in our everyday lives and not because we are necessarily lazy but because we don't understand the long term affect not wearing it will have on our skin! Even on cloudy days or when you’re indoors, UV rays can cause premature ageing, leading to wrinkles, dark spots, and sagging. Sun damage is cumulative, so every time you skip sunscreen, you’re speeding up the ageing process. How to fix it: Make SPF 30 or higher your daily must-have. Apply it generously every morning, and don’t forget to reapply throughout the day—especially if you’re spending time outdoors. And we understand that many sunscreens can feel oily on your skin or leave an unruly white residue that’s why we highly recommend Medicalia’s Sunscreen SPF 40 with Blue Light Shield. Thinking that the SPF in your makeup is enough to protect your skin Unless your makeup has an SPF factor of 30 or above it's unlikely to ward off premature ageing if worn alone. This is because the majority of makeup will protect against UVB rays but won't block UVA rays which is what causes skin damage. How to fix it: Layering your skin with a high factor SPF moisturiser and then foundation will give you the best chance of maintaining skin's youthful appearance, but if you are in love with your daily moisturiser which doesn't contain sun protection, use a foundation or BB Cream with a high enough SPF. We highly recommend ELES Blue Light Radiant BB Cream SPF 30. Formulated with potent ingredients including peptides, beta-carotene, amino acids, vitamin c, niacinamide, hyaluronic acid, vitamin e and vitamin c, it nourishes, brightens and protects skin against UVA and UVB, as well as blue light and free radical damage! Genius. Not updating your skincare as your skin changes You might have been loyal to the same moisturiser for many years but sadly the skincare you've used in your 20's really won't cut it in your 30's, 40's and beyond. This is because as we age our skin's needs dramatically change. Skin becomes thinner, drier, more sensitive, and loses elasticity as collagen and elastin start to deplete, while fine lines and wrinkles start to form. How to fix it: Understand your skin type and needs and choose products accordingly. Anti-ageing skincare rich in ingredients such as hyaluronic acid, collagen, and vitamin C become essential as we get older. For more info on this read about the 7 super ingredients in your skincare that are all the rage and adjust your products accordingly.   Skipping on your moisturiser It's that time of the month and a few pesky pimples have reared their ugly head, or perhaps you are often prone to adult acne or simply suffer from oily skin, so suddenly you think it best to lay off the moisturiser which must be exacerbating the issue right? Wrong. While you are likely not alone in thinking lathering up on moisturiser seems counterintuitive, everyone, no matter what your skin type or concern, needs to apply a moisturiser daily! This is because moisturiser maintains skin hydration throughout the day and therefore assists in fighting premature fine lines and wrinkles too. In fact, applying moisturiser will greatly reduce your chance of developing extreme dryness, skin sensitivity, or oiliness! Why? Dehydrated skin can lead to issues like inflammation, premature skin ageing, and even breakouts. When your skin becomes dry, your body responds by making more oil! And we all know excess oil can clog pores leading to more of those darn pesky pimples. How to fix it: Don’t skip moisturiser ever. Simply find the one that will be best for your skin type. Search BC by your skin concern and then look for the moisturiser that will be right for you. Just be sure to opt for lighter moisturisers by day, especially in the warmer months, and richer creams at night.   Focusing only on Wrinkles While we are all concerned about fine lines and wrinkles as we age, dark spots and pigmentation can actually give our complexion a dull, devitalised and in turn much older appearance too! In fact, dark spots and uneven skin tone can make us look 10 years older! How to fix it: If you suffer from hyperpigmentation ensure you introduce products specifically to help with this skin concern. We promise it'll positively impact your complexion and protect your skin too. Try Vie Collection's Mela White Radiance Brightening Essense, a triple-action daily cream that effectively acts against dark spots, free radicals, and UV. The results will speak for themselves. Ignoring eye care Unfortunately our eyes are the first area of our face to show ageing, so you need to show it love just as you would the rest of your face! Like a moisturiser, an eye cream’s main objective is to deliver brightening and anti-ageing ingredients, however in a milder, gentler, safer dose. Moisturisers tend to have a much richer consistency in comparison to their counterpart which if applied under the eyes can prove too much, resulting in irritation, allergic reactions and milia. How to fix it: Applying a good eye cream daily is essential in keeping fine, lines and wrinkles at yay! You can also buy eye creams targeted to specific eye concerns such as crow’s feet, under eye bags and dark circles. We highly recommend Vie Collection's Chrono Eyes Puffiness-Dark Circles Wrinkle Cream. A mouthful to say I know, but a product that does exactly what it says. It’s a beautifully fine cream enriched with moisturising ingredients to nourish the eye area while reversing puffiness, dark circles, and wrinkles! Seriously! Want younger looking eyes? Start wearing eye cream or eye gel today!   Rubbing Your Eyes The area around our eyes is the most delicate on our face, fact. When we are tired it's easy to fall into the trap of rubbing our eyes, but rubbing, tugging, or pulling at your eye area can cause tiny blood vessles to break resulting in dark circles that make you look tired All. Of. The. Time. How to fix it: Be mindful of your eyes. When youre tired try to leave them alone! And if you haven’t already get a good anti-ageing eye gel and eye cream for morning and night and start applying then stat!   8. Ignoring Your neck and decolletage Oh, the forgotten area! And the area of your skin which can actually age you the most! Exposed to sunlight just as much as your face, if your neck and decolletage aren't cared for daily or protected with SPF, they can end up crepey and wrinkly so much earlier than they should! Whatever you do for your face you should do for your neck and decolletage too. How to fix it: There are neck and chest specific products you can use, I personally use Phytomer's Decollete Parfait Neck and Decollete Renewing Care, it hydrates, nourishes refines and brightens skin for a more youthful appearance while smoothing wrinkles too! But there is also nothing wrong with using your daily moisturiser or a hydrating body cream instead! Just start doing it now! Forgetting your hands! We often focus all our anti-aging efforts on our face, but areas like hands can give away your age just as quickly. And I can bet your bottom dollar that many of us are not looking after this delicate area! The back of your hands have thinner skin and are often exposed to the sun and environmental damage, yet they’re frequently overlooked in our skincare routines. How to fix it: Whatever you do for your face, do for your hands! Its simple! Apply sunscreen, moisturiser, and anti-ageing products daily. We highly recommend Pevonia’s Collagen Hand Cream, its divinely nourishing and gives hands an instant lift in appearance and texture. Avoiding exfoliators It's not just fine lines and wrinkles that make you look older, having a dull uneven skin tone can easily add years to your face as well! As we age our skin's natural ability to shed dead cells declines, so without weekly exfoliation skin can become uneven, dull and lacklustre. This is why exfoliation is so imperative, and not a step that should be ignored. How to fix it: Many people are scared of exfoliation because they think their skin is too sensitive, and it will just aggravate an existing issue, but that's where natural enzyme exfoliators can be the answer. Hubislab's Pure Balance Papaya Enzyme Peeling Wash, Phytomer's Vegetal Exfoliant with Natural Enzymes and Pevonia's Enzymo Spherides Peeling Cream are formulated with natural enzymes which basically melt away dead cells so no scrubbing is needed. Just remember removing dead skin cells helps your skin properly absorb moisturiser which in turn keeps fine lines and dehydration at bay, as well as brightening skins radiance. Now, who wouldn't want that!! Or simply going overboard with exfoliating If you tend to sway the other way and love to exfoliate your skin a little too much i'm here to tell you stop it now! Over exfoliating can actually slow cell turnover and lead to irritation and inflammation. Over time, this can weaken your skin’s barrier, causing fine lines and wrinkles to appear more quickly. Your skin needs time to regenerate, and over-exfoliating can strip away essential oils and moisture, making you look older. How to fix it: Stick to exfoliation once, maybe twice a week for the best results. If you like to use an exfoliator with grains or microbeads but skin tends to be a little on the sensitive side give Pevonia's Gentle Exfoliating Cleanser a go. it’s great for those who love physical exfoliators with granules but want to steer clear of facial scrubs which could be a little harsh on the skin. It gently polishes your complexion with its unique creamy yet granular texture, formulated with jojoba beads, saponaria and chamomile, revealing a softer, smoother and brighter complexion every time! Not drinking enough water As I'm sitting here writing this, I can hold my hands up and say today so far I've only drunk 2 glasses of water when I should have in fact consumed at least a litre by now! Yes, it's fact, water, or lack of should I say is a real skin ager!! And I know I must practice what a preach! The thing is I do, but some days I will admit it's easy to forget! And when I do, I get cross with myself as I can see it in my skin! It's drier, duller and devitalised. This is because drinking 'enough' water helps the body to flush out toxins while increasing blood flow to the skin which gives it an even tone and dewy appearance! And dewy skin equals youthful skin after all! How to fix it: Aim to drink at least 8 glasses of water a day to keep your skin hydrated from the inside out. Adding water-rich foods like cucumbers and watermelon to your diet can also give your skin an extra hydration boost. Not a huge fan of water? Try a good herbal tea instead.   Yo-Yo Dieting Constantly fluctuating between losing and gaining weight can wreak havoc on your skin. Yo-yo dieting can cause your skin to stretch and lose elasticity, making it more prone to sagging and wrinkles. The loss of essential nutrients during restrictive diets can also lead to dull, unhealthy-looking skin. How to fix it: Focus on a balanced, nutrient-rich diet that supports overall health, including your skin. Healthy fats, antioxidants, and vitamins will keep your skin nourished and resilient.   Ignoring Stress Stress doesn’t just affect your mood—it can take a toll on your skin too. Stress increases cortisol, which breaks down collagen and leads to wrinkles. How to fix it: Make stress management a priority with mindfulness practices, regular exercise, and relaxation techniques. Indulging in hot showers and baths How many of us are guilty of indulging in a hot shower or simply washing our faces with water set to a high temp. Unfortunately extreme water temperatures will strip healthy natural oils from your skin quickly, making it dry and therefore age much faster. Water that's too hot can also dilate your capillaries leading to spider veins. How to fix it: For best and healthy results you should be washing with lukewarm water! Easier to achieve in the warmer months!   Not getting enough sleep....when you could get more If I had a dollar for every time I said to my husband I must get to bed early tonight because I need more sleep and am fed up of looking old and tired, I'd be a rich woman. While they say practice what you preach, I am a testament that not getting enough sleep (when I could indeed fit in another 1-2 hours a night (darn netflix!) literally does age you. Poor sleep is quite literally to blame for premature ageing, dermatitis, eczema, acne, loss of collagen and more! Scary right? So let's make a pact and try for that 8 hours + we really do need nightly. Now be sure to follow our advice to be sure you slow down the signs of ageing naturally! How to fix it: Aim for 7-9 hours of quality sleep each night to give your skin the time it needs to recover and rejuvenate.   Over doing your brows Yes, we need brows to look youthful, after all they frame the eyes and lift the face. Many of us tweezed our brows to thin lines in the 80’s only to find they never grew back so what to many of us do! Fill out our brows, but often with harsh, red toned pencils which im afraid can make us look hard and older! How to fix it: The goal is to create natural looking thicker brows like the ones we used to have. Opt for taupe colour brow products instead of warm browns, these will frame your eyes beautifully without taking over your face. Apply the brow product in soft stokes to create the illusion of natural hair. Be sure not to overfill the front part of your brow though! This area should have soft hair that graduates into more density. We recommend using the ELES Precision Brow Pencil. The soft, fine pencil allows you to perfectly line and fill your brows and the formula lasts for us to 10 hours! It’s amazing. Using the wrong tone of foundation Many foundations and BB Creams come in both warm and cool tones but remember for many of us cool tones can exacerbate signs of age! This is because they often have blue, pink, or ashy undertones, which can accentuate fine lines, wrinkles, and uneven skin texture. As skin ages, it tends to lose its natural warmth and radiance, so using a foundation with cool tones can make the complexion appear dull, flat, or even greyish too! Which in turn can also highlight dark circles or any sallowness in the skin. How to fix it: Opt for warmer tones that help counteract complexion pinkness that comes with thinning of the skin and exposure of fine capillaries. Warmer tones also conceal shadows better which means you need less concealer. We recommend using ELES Blue Light Radiant BB Cream 30, it’s packed with nature’s anti-ageing actives and leaves the skin glowing.   19. Overloading on foundation powder Face powder, when used correctly and frugally can be a fantastic makeup staple (I have been I’m in love with the ELES Mineral Powder Foundation for years!) however, no matter your skin type, too much face powder can actually age you! That’s right, it can highlight fine lines and wrinkles instead of helping to conceal them! How to fix it: Im not saying you have to totally forgo your trusty powder foundation compact, but it’s best to use powder sparingly – on your t-zone, or for quick touch-up’s, Or better still make sure you opt for a lightweight powder!   Using the wrong concealer or concealer shade As we mature and our face loses its youthful “plumpness”, shadow start to really appear under our eyes, around the nose, and at the corners of our mouth. It’s tempting to reach for a heavy duty, ultra-light shade concealer to hide these dark areas. The problem is that they just make the dark shadows look grey as opposed to concealing them! How to fix it: Opt instead for peachy toned, lightweight concealers that won’t cake on the skin and counteract the blue in the shadows. We recommend ELES Dual Action Concealer, it acts like 8 hours of sleep in a tube! We love it! Applying eye makeup that makes the eyes droop Who doesn’t love makeup! After all it can boost our confidence, enhance our natural beauty and help soften the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles! But sadly certain eye makeup techniques and products can make our eyes appear droopy as well as emphasize ageing signs as we get older! Thick, dark eyeliner, especially on the lower lash line, can make eyes look smaller and more tired. It can also draw attention to sagging skin around our delicate peepers. Then there is our eyeshadow! Eyeshadow enhances eye shape, adds depth and dimension making eyes appear more vibrant but shimmer and frosty shades while fun can settle into fine lines and wrinkles, exacerbating them and making our eyelids look more creased or droopy. How to fix it: To counteract this, opt for lighter, more neutral shades on the lids, keep eyeliner lighter, thin and lifted, and focus on lifting the upper lash line to create a more youthful, wide-eyed appearance. For your eyeliner we recommend ELES Superwear Gel Eyeliner, its soft and easy to blend out and once set won’t transfer to the lids. If you have hooded or droopy eyes here are some top tips to improve them naturally. Continuing to use that cold frosted lipstick we love As we age, similar to our skin, our lips start to lose volume and in turn fine lines start to form! Unfortunately that frosted lip colour that we once loved (and looked good) no longer does! This is because frosted lip colours enhance these lines making your lips age you even more! How to fix it: It’s time to change up your lipstick! Instead of that frosted favourite, opt for a cream or satin lipstick that will make your lips look fuller and smoother. Many of these contain moisturising molecules that plump the lips and keep them hydrated longer.   Going to bed with makeup on Well here's one you've heard many a time before! Right? From a few too many wines to being just plain old exhausted, sometimes it hard to peel yourself off your bed to go and remove your makeup but remove your makeup you must! Cleansing your face especially at night to remove not only your makeup but any remnants of the days sweat, dirt and grime is imperative for healthy skin. Not removing your makeup means your skin is unable to regenerate effectively while you sleep, pores clog, blemishes form and fatigue (ageing!) signs start to appear. Makeup can also trap dirt and pollution, which leads to oxidative stress—damaging your skin and breaking down collagen, the protein that keeps your skin firm and smooth. How to fix it: No matter how tired you are, make cleansing a non-negotiable part of your nighttime routine. Use a gentle cleanser or micellar water to remove makeup and grime, giving your skin a chance to breathe and repair while you sleep. For a fantastic makeup remover which effectively melts away makeup and grime with minimum effort try Phytomer's Doux Contour Eye and Lip Waterproof Makeup Remover. Combining the effectiveness of an oil (a trio of oils in fact) and the gentleness of a lotion, this ultra-hydrating makeup remover, eradicates even the most stubborn of lips and eye makeup fast! Sleeping on your stomach or side This one might surprise you, but the way you sleep can actually affect your skin. If you regularly sleep on your stomach or side, your face gets squished against the pillow, which can lead to wrinkles over time. These “sleep lines” tend to form around the eyes, cheeks, and forehead, making you look older. Just great I hear you say! How to fix it: Try sleeping on your back to reduce pressure on your face. Investing in a silk or satin pillowcase can also help, as it causes less friction on your skin than cotton.

Plus, Pevonia's C Complex with Oxyzomes is loaded with repairing antioxidants that not only brighten but also protect your skin from environmental stressors. This technology allows the Vitamin C to penetrate deeper into the skin, providing sustained release over time. The microencapsulation of the Vitamin C in Oxyzomes also protects it from oxidation, which often reduces the efficacy of Vitamin C in skincare products. As a result, this delivery system helps to maximize the serum's brightening, anti-ageing, and antioxidant benefits, making it more effective in reducing dark spots, boosting collagen, and improving overall skin radiance.   What you’ll love about Pevonia's C Complexe So, why should Pevonia’s C Complexe with Oxyzomes earn a spot in your skincare routine? I am 63yrs old, so am thrilled to find a product that takes a few years off my face,.” Pamela “I've been using this serum for years now and as usual it does not disappoint. My skin always looks so much brighter and hydrated everytime I use it.” Oreilly “This serum has the ability to make my skin brighter and smoother as soon as I put it on and it just gets better and better the more I use it. 10 ways to prepare your skin for summer

10 ways to prepare your skin for summer

by Jo Boyden on Sep 20 2024
The weather is really warming up which means summer is coming! And while I know I personally can’t wait for those hot beach days ahead, it does mean our skin will need a little extra TLC ahead of handling the heat, humidity and increased sun exposure to come! Prepping your skin for summer won’t just help you achieve that coveted sun-kissed glow, it will also protect your skin against damage caused by the sun, sweat and environmental factors! Keep reading for 10 essential ways (and products!) to get your skin prepped for the sunny season ahead!   Exfoliate for a fresh start While you might have been occasionally exfoliating your face throughout the cooler winter months, I can bet your bottom dollar many of us have neglected the skin on our bodies! Unfortunately, winter can leave your skin dry and dull, with dead skin cells building up on the surface. Exfoliating really is key to sloughing away these dead cells and revealing the fresh, smooth skin underneath! But that’s not all! Exfoliating your skin can also help fade uneven patches and hyperpigmentation that may have developed during the winter months too! And don’t forget! As the weather gets warmer that means increased sweating and oil production which can lead to clogged pores and blemishes – ekk, so get exfoliating today! For your face use a gentle exfoliator with ingredients like lactic acid or jojoba beads 1-2 times a week to avoid irritation. Remember exfoliation also helps your skin absorb other products better, so your summer skincare routine can work its magic. Try Medicalia's Exfoliating Cleanser. This outstanding cleanser is formulated with Lactic Acid and Jojoba Beads to thoroughly remove makeup, excess oil and bacteria. It also works to eliminate epidermal keratin buildup, impurities, and pollutants and renders the skin clean, soft, and vibrant for a smoother, visibly brighter complexion!! Its amazing for all skin types too. For your body opt for a deeply nourishing exfoliator rich in ingredients such as glycerin, aloe and shea butter. We love Pevonia’s Silky Skin Body Scrub. It’s been a favourite of ours and our customers for years for very good reason. It’s a beautifully creamy exfoliator. For face and body (yes, it is recommended for both!) try Pevonia’s Chocolate Indulgence Foaming Salt Scrub. It smells divine, it’s nutrient rich thanks to its formulation of cacao extract and energizing sea salt, it is lusciously foaming when applied (which is kind of cool) and it leaves you smoother, glowing and positively refined from head to toe! Oh and it’s recommended for all skin types!   Keep skin hydrated Increased sun exposure and higher temperatures can quickly dehydrate your skin, leaving it parched and more prone to irritation which is why keeping skin hydrated is key especially in the hotter months. Start by switching to a lightweight, hydrating moisturiser that contains ingredients like hyaluronic acid and glycerin. These humectants draw water into your skin, keeping it plump and dewy without feeling heavy in the heat. We love Phytomer Hydra Continue Radiance Energizing Cream. Thanks to its beautifully lightweight texture, it helps keep that outer layer of skin perfectly nourished without feeling too heavy. Rich in vitamins, it revitalizes, activates your skin’s cellular activity to promote natural regrowth, hydrates, softens and smooths skin for a radiant youthful appearance   Step Up Your SPF game If there’s one non-negotiable in your summer skincare routine, it’s sunscreen. UV rays are stronger in the summer, increasing the risk of sunburn, premature ageing, and skin cancer. Opt for a broad-spectrum SPF 30 or higher to protect your skin from both UVA and UVB rays. Don’t forget to reapply every two hours, especially if you’re swimming or sweating. Look for lightweight, non-greasy formulas that won’t clog pores or leave a white cast (because nobody likes that!) We highly recommend Medicalia's Sunscreen SPF 40 with Blue Light Shield. The one and only reason why so many people are reluctant to use sunscreen (despite knowing how important it is) is because they can’t stand the texture or smell. Well with this outstanding tinted formulation there is no thick white paste or unruly sunscreen smell in sight! It feels like a lightweight moisturiser, smells divine, is loaded with anti-ageing goodies and it won’t cause itchiness thanks to its mineral formulation including both zinc and iron oxides. Very slightly tinted (though most of the tint disappears once it’s absorbed) it leaves your skin looking smoother and calmer. Oh and it protects skin against not only UVA and UVB rays (yes it provides skin with broad spectrum protection) but pollution and blue light damage omitted from our screens too! What’s more the formula is reef-safe and works for all skin types and tones too! Its outstanding!   Switch to a lighter cleanser When the weather is warmer we are more likely to sweat which means increased oil production! Therefore it’s important to use a gentle, yet effective cleanser that can remove impurities without stripping your skin. Gel or foam-based cleansers are ideal for summer as they feel refreshing and can help control excess oil. Just be careful not to over-cleanse, as it can lead to dryness or trigger your skin to produce even more oil. We can’t get enough of Pevonia’s best-selling CleanRefresh Foaming Oil Cleanser. It’s a lightweight oil-gel to foaming formulation which gently but deeply cleanses the skin and regulates excess oiliness without causing dryness that many gel or foaming cleansers can. It acts like a super magnet entrapping pollutants, impurities and bacteria to leave skin radiantly refreshed, soft and supple after every application.   Incorporate antioxidants into your routine Summer means for many of us more time outdoors (who doesn’t love a little beach action) and with that comes exposure to free radicals from UV rays, pollution, and environmental stressors. These can damage your skin, causing premature ageing and dullness. Protect your skin by incorporating antioxidants like vitamin C, green tea extract, or niacinamide into your routine. Antioxidants help neutralize free radicals, brighten the skin, and boost your sunscreen’s effectiveness.   Keep your skin cool with mists Summer heat can often make your skin feel inflamed, irritated, or sweaty. A refreshing facial mist can be a lifesaver on those hot days. Look for mists containing soothing ingredients like aloe vera and rose flower oil to cool down and hydrate your skin throughout the day. Keep one in your bag for a quick refresh whenever you need it! I can’t speak more highly of Pevonia’s Hyaluronic Acid HydraMist. A true multi-tasker, it can be used in the morning to revitalise your senses and replenish the moisture your skin has lost overnight, after your makeup to set it in place, throughout the day to help your skin stay supple and fresh (or as the perfect pick-me-up), and as a toner to enhance your evening cleanse. What’s more it will actually improve the absorption of your serum and moisturiser optimising the benefits and overall results too!   Don’t Forget About Your Lips When it comes to our routine our lips can often be overlooked but why shouldn’t they receive the same level as TLC as the rest of your skin! After all they can suffer from sun damage just like the rest of your face. To prevent dry, cracked lips, apply a lip balm with SPF throughout the day. Look for hydrating ingredients like shea butter to keep your lips soft and protected.   Lighten Up Your Makeup While many of us love to wear makeup, more heavy formulations can feel uncomfortable in the heat and may clog our pores which in turn can lead to breakouts. The warmer months of spring into summer is the perfect time to embrace a more natural, lightweight look. Swap out full-coverage foundations for tinted moisturisers or BB creams with SPF for breathable, sheer coverage that still gives you a glow too. A personal favourite of mine is the ELES Mineral Sheer Tint SPF 20. For warm summer day, or those days when you want a no-makeup makeup look or don’t feel like wearing much makeup at all, this sheer tint is a winner. It offers a light, breathable coverage while providing sun protection. The mineral-based formula is gentle on the skin, making it perfect for everyday wear.   Protect Your Skin with Clothing As we all know sunscreen is a must but pairing it with protective clothing can help shield your skin from harmful UV rays even more. Invest in wide-brimmed hats, UV-protective sunglasses, and lightweight, long-sleeved clothing. These items can keep your skin safe while allowing you to enjoy outdoor activities without worry.   Stay hydrated from within We all know drinking a sufficient amount of water is imperative and upping your water intake in the hot, summer months is even more essential. Staying hydrated helps flush out toxins, keeps your skin looking plump and radiant, and prevents dryness or flakiness. Aim for at least 8 glasses of water a day and consider adding hydrating foods like watermelon, cucumber, and strawberries to your diet. I love to drink herbal tea daily too! A hot drink might sound counterintuitive but I’m here to tell it it actually cools you down while quenching your thirst!   Preparing your skin for summer is all about hydration, protection, and balance. By making a few simple adjustments to your routine—like swapping heavy moisturisers for lighter options, being religious when it comes to applying your sunscreen, and adding antioxidants to your routine, you’ll keep your skin healthy, glowing, and ready to enjoy the summer months ahead. Remember, consistency is key, so start prepping now and get your skin summer-ready!
How to reduce under eye wrinkles: 9 proven tips

How to reduce under eye wrinkles: 9 proven tips

by Jo Boyden on Sep 20 2024
If you’re in your 40s like me, it’s likely you’ve started to notice fine lines and wrinkles showing up under your eyes! Unfortunately the delicate skin around our precious peepers is one of the first areas to show signs of ageing, and whether it's from constant late nights, sun exposure, or simply because of your age, those wrinkles can make you look and feel older than you actually are. But all is not lost! I’m here to tell you there are ways to visibly reduce them and restore a more youthful, refreshed look! Keep reading as we count down 9 proven tips and products to help smooth out your under-eye area and keep those obvious wrinkles at bay.   Hydrate, Hydrate, Hydrate! The skin under your eyes needs constant moisture to stay plump and healthy. Dry skin shows wrinkles more prominently, so it’s essential to hydrate both inside and out. Drink plenty of water throughout the day (think 8 glasses and more if you can!) and use an eye eye or serum in the morning specifically formulated for hydration. Look for ingredients like hyaluronic acid, glycerin, and peptides to lock in moisture and plump up the skin.   Sun protection is a Must By now we should all know that UV rays are one of the leading causes of premature ageing, including under-eye wrinkles!! Daily use of a broad-spectrum SPF 30 or higher will protect your skin and eyes from harmful sun damage.   Invest in a gemstone roller A gemstone roller will not only help reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles around the eyes, but when used correctly, it can dramatically reduce puffiness by moving excess fluid around your eyes towards your lymph nodes where it filters out the toxins too. Cool right? To find out more about the facial rollers and how to use them click here.   Invest in an anti-ageing eye cream specifically formulated to target under eye wrinkles At night make sure you apply a really nourishing anti-ageing eye cream. Look for ingredients such as vitamin C, retinol, collagen, hyaluronic acid, and peptides, which will help promote collagen production helping to reduce wrinkles but it will help brighten the under-eye area too! We love Vie Collection Chrono Eyes Puffiness – Dark Circles Wrinkle Cream. This outstanding eye cream draws its inspiration from the eye rejuvenating hyaluronic acid injections carried out in aesthetic doctors practices! It’s suitable for everyone, even those with super sensitive eyes and it does exactly what the bottle says! It attacks puffiness, dark circles and wrinkles with a powerful burst of encapsulated high molecular weight hyaluronic acid, injectables-like peptide, fatty acids, vitamin c and niacinamide for exceptional results.   Be armed with a good concealer Completely eradicating under eye wrinkles is next to impossible but it is possible to make your reduced wrinkles look non-existent by arming yourself with a really good concealer specifically for the delicate eye area. Simply dot the concealer using your pinky finger (the warmth of your fingers will help the concealer to melt into your skin creating a smooth, natural application). My go-to concealer is the ELES Dual Action Concealer. Its an anti-ageing wonder rich in Vitamins E & C, caffeine, collagen, hyaluronic acid and Tetrapeptide 5 which works to depuff, smooth, brighten and conceal the eyes, neutralizing dark circles and hiding fine lines. Its moisturising formula also provides continuous hydration as well as a natural longwearing finish meaning it lasts for hours without seeping into fine lines and wrinkles! Bonus!   Adjust your diet Make sure you eat foods rich in vitamin E which can help to fight enzymes that break down skin elasticity. Vitamin E also fights free radicals which causes wrinkles and ageing. It also helps to remove blemishes and dark circles too! Foods like almond, peanuts, sunflower seeds, spinach, and broccoli are good!   Don’t over expose your eyes to sun! Sunscreen isn’t the only way to protect your peepers from the sun! To prevent wrinkles from forming prematurely around the eyes, don’t forget to wear sunglasses, this will prevent squinting. Oh and opt for a protective hat too!   Get your beauty sleep! One of the most common contributors to undereye wrinkles is lack of sleep! Eek, so you need to ensure you are getting enough beauty sleep every night, we are talking 7-9 hours minimum! Lack of sleep affects your skin's hydration, collagen levels, and blood circulation. When you don’t get enough shut eye your skin becomes dehydrated, making fine lines and wrinkles more visible. Lack of sleep also increases cortisol, the stress hormone, which breaks down collagen—the protein responsible for keeping skin firm and smooth. And finally poor sleep reduces blood flow, causing the under-eye area to appear dull and tired, while fluid retention leads to puffiness and sagging, further exaggerating wrinkles!! Yet another reason why quality sleep is so essential!   Upgrade your pillow case If you are one for sleeping with your face in the pillow, you might want to consider switching up your cotton pillowcase to a silk or satin alternative instead. Silk has natural moisturising properties to retain moisture around the eyes. The dense weave of the silky-smooth fibres also keep moisture close to your skin, this extra moisture can help to reduce dark circles, fine lines and wrinkles. Just remember, Rome wasn’t built in day, and your under-eye skin won’t transform overnight either sadly (if only!) Be patient and be religious with these steps and you’ll be waking up to smoother, brighter and younger looking eyes soon!
SPF protection: Choosing the best sunscreen for your skin

SPF protection: Choosing the best sunscreen for your skin

by Jo Boyden on Sep 06 2024
With the weather warming up and many of swapping out our jumpers for summer attire, it’s time to make sure we are being serious about our suncare! And yes, you should be wearing SPF protection all year round come rain, hail or shine, but it’s the spring and summer months that can really do the most damage to our skin due to an increase in sun exposure and UVA and UVB intensity. With so many sunscreen options out there though, it’s easy to feel confused about which one to choose, how much to apply, and why it’s so important in the first place. Keep reading as we explain why SPF is non-negotiable for anyone who cares about their skin and how to choose the best sunscreen for you.   Firstly, why is sunscreen so important? As much as we all love the sun, it sadly emits harmful ultraviolet (UV) rays that can do serious damage to our skin, leading to premature ageing and in some cases skin cancer. These UV rays come in two main forms: UVA and UVB, and they both affect our skin in different ways. A daily SPF acts as a protective barrier, preventing these rays from damaging our skin.   UVA verses UVB rays When it comes to protecting your skin from the sun, understanding the difference between UVA and UVB rays is essential for choosing the right sunscreen. UVB rays affect the surface of your skin and are primarily responsible for sunburn. They also play a significant role in developing skin cancer. UVB rays vary in intensity depending on the season, but they’re dangerous year-round. UVA rays penetrate deeper into your skin and are responsible for premature ageing, causing wrinkles, fine lines, and dark spots. UVA rays can also contribute to skin cancer. They are present year-round, even on cloudy days, and can even penetrate through windows! Scary stuff! To protect against both UVA and UVB rays you need a broad-spectrum sunscreen.   What does SPF stand for and what does it actually mean? SPF stands for Sun Protection Factor, and it’s a measure of how long your skin is protected from UVB rays only, before it starts to burn. For example, SPF 30 means your skin is protected 30 times longer than it would be without sunscreen. However, this doesn’t mean that higher SPF numbers offer exponentially more protection. Here’s how it breaks down: SPF 15 blocks about 93% of UVB rays. SPF 30 blocks about 97% of UVB rays. SPF 50 blocks about 98% of UVB rays. While SPF 100 might seem like overkill, there’s only a slight increase in protection from SPF 50 to SPF 100, so don’t stress too much about going over SPF 50. What matters most is that you’re applying enough sunscreen and reapplying it regularly.   How does SPF work? SPF doesn’t create an impenetrable shield but rather extends the amount of time you can stay in the sun without burning. For example, if your skin would normally burn after 10 minutes in the sun, applying SPF 30 theoretically extends that time by 30 times, giving you about 300 minutes (or 5 hours) of protection. This can vary based on factors like skin type, intensity of sunlight, and amount of sunscreen applied. There are two main types of sunscreens - physical (mineral) and chemical sunscreen: Physical or mineral-based sunscreens are formulated with ingredients like zinc oxide and titanium dioxide which create a barrier on your skin’s surface that reflects UV rays. They’re great for sensitive skin and are often less irritating. Chemical sunscreens formulated with ingredients like homosalate, avobenzone and oxybenzone, work by absorbing UV rays before they can damage your skin. They’re often lighter in texture but may irritate sensitive skin.   How long does SPF really last for? Even though the SPF number indicates extended protection, sunscreens typically last only 2 hours before they need to be reapplied. This is especially true if you’re swimming, sweating, or towelling off. Water-resistant sunscreens can help, but they still need to be reapplied frequently to maintain their effectiveness.   Additional application tips: Be sure to apply sunscreen generously to all exposed areas of your skin, and don’t forget often-missed spots like your ears, neck, and the tops of your feet. The key to effective sun protection is consistency—whether it’s sunny or cloudy, always include sunscreen in your daily skincare routine, it’s THE most important step!   Choosing the right SPF: For daily use, an SPF 30 sunscreen is generally sufficient, as it blocks about 97% of UVB rays. However, if you have fair skin, are prone to burning, or spend a lot of time outdoors, consider an SPF 50 or higher for additional protection. Keep in mind that no sunscreen can block 100% of UV rays, so reapplication every two hours, or after swimming or sweating, is crucial.   What is the best sunscreen for you? The first thing you want to do when selecting your sunscreen is to know your skin type. If you have oily skin, you’ll want to look for a non-comedogenic, oil-free formulations that won’t clog pores. Dry skin? Opt for a sunscreen with hydrating ingredients like glycerin or hyaluronic acid. For sensitive skin, mineral sunscreens are your best bet, as they’re less likely to cause irritation. For daily use under makeup, a lightweight, mattifying sunscreen might be more suitable. Some sunscreen products can be specially formulated to provide other benefits to the skin, such as extra moisture, and may contain beneficial ingredients like soothing niacinamide and ceramides to restore your skin’s natural protective barrier.   Our sunscreen recommendations; Hubislab Post Rays UV Protect Sun Block SPF50+ PA+++ This amazing multi-tasking sun block provides complete UV and antioxidant protection for ageing or stressed-out skin! Its non-irritating, has an SPF of 50+ and protects the skin against UV radiation, preventing dryness, dullness and signs of premature ageing including hyperpigmentation. Rich in peptides and collagen it keeps skin nourished, healthy and elastic and the invisible matte formula applies smoothly and stays on all day. With zinc oxide as its main ingredient, there is zero irritation, so it is ideal for all skin types including those with extremely sensitive and/or ageing skin.   Medicalia Sunscreen SPF 40 with Blue Light Shield The one and only reason why so many people are reluctant to use sunscreen (despite knowing how important it is) is because they can’t stand the texture or smell. It’s a fantastic option for those who are after a great sun protection but are already suffering from sun damage.   ELES Blue Light Radiant BB Cream 30 If you are looking for an SPF product that is your makeup and daily moisturiser in one, look no further than this best-selling BB Cream with SPF 30 from ELES. 9 signs of a damaged skin barrier and how to fix it

9 signs of a damaged skin barrier and how to fix it

by Jo Boyden on Sep 06 2024
A healthy skin barrier is the secret to glowing skin. When it’s healthy, our skin looks radiant and plump, but when it’s damaged it can become prone to dryness, inflammation, breakouts and more! If you’ve been dealing with skin issues that just won’t go away, your skin barrier could well be to blame!  Keep reading to learn about 9 common signs of a damaged skin barrier, why yours may be compromised and the best solutions to fix it!   What is our skin barrier? The outer most layer of our skin, or technically known as the stratum corneum, our skin barrier is a complex system of lipids, proteins and cells. It’s the first line of defence against bacteria and external aggressors, from pollution and harsh weather conditions, to stress, smoking and even blue light damage from our digital devices! Think of it as a protective shield keeping irritants out and locking moisture in. What are the most common signs of a damaged skin barrier? Increased sensitivity Do you find your skin reacting to products that never used to be a problem? Unfortunately a damaged barrier can make your skin hypersensitive. This means that products with active ingredients like retinol or vitamin C might suddenly cause stinging or irritation. Aghh How to fix it: Simplify your skincare routine. Focus on soothing and hydrating skin. Opt for fragrance-free, hypoallergenic products designed specifically for sensitive skin, then slowly reintroduce active ingredients once your barrier is repaired. Dryness and Flakiness Dry, flaky skin can be a major sign that your skin barrier isn’t holding onto moisture the way it should. Even if you’re moisturising regularly, your skin might still feel parched and tight. How to fix it: You need to incorporate a hydrating serum rich in hyaluronic acid into your daily routine and up the ante with your moisturiser too! You want a nourishing moisturiser formulated with ceramides, hyaluronic acid and glycerin which will help lock in moisture and rebuild the barrier. Redness and Inflammation One of the first indicators of a damaged skin barrier is redness that just won’t go away. If your skin is constantly inflamed, blotchy, or has developed conditions like rosacea, it’s a sign that your protective layer is compromised. Without the barrier functioning properly, your skin is more susceptible to irritants and environmental factors that can cause persistent redness. How to fix it: Calm your skin with products containing anti-inflammatory ingredients like niacinamide, aloe vera, and chamomile. Avoid anything that could further irritate your skin, like harsh exfoliants or overly fragrant products. Breakouts and Acne When your skin barrier is compromised, your skin can overproduce oil to compensate for the lack of moisture. This can lead to clogged pores, breakouts, and even acne in those of us who normally have clear skin. How to fix it: Use a gentle cleanser that will remove excess oil without stripping the skin of its natural moisture. And make sure you avoid products that could clog your pores. Incorporate lightweight, oil-free moisturisers that hydrate without causing breakouts. Tightness and Discomfort Do you often feel like your skin is tight or uncomfortable, especially after cleansing? This could be a sign that your barrier is stripped of its natural oils. When your skin loses its protective lipids, it can no longer maintain its elasticity and comfort, leading to a sensation of tightness. How to fix it: The first step to fixing tight, uncomfortable skin is to replenish lost moisture and help rebuild the lipid layer of the barrier. Creamy or oil-based cleansers are great for restoring hydration while gently removing dirt and impurities and look for products rich in ceramides, fatty acids, glycerin, hyaluronic acid and squalane which will help restore the natural protective layer as well as lock in moisture. Hyperpigmentation A weakened barrier can make your skin more susceptible to damage from the sun and environmental pollutants, leading to an increase in hyperpigmentation such as dark spots, also known as age spots and sun spots! If you notice that your skin is developing more pigmentation issues, it could be a sign that your barrier needs some serious TLC. How to fix it: Incorporate antioxidants such as vitamin c and niacinamide into your skincare routine as they can help repair the skin and reduce the appearance of dark spots by neutralizing free radicals. Once your barrier is stronger you can then start introducing targeted treatments to fade hyperpigmentation. And sunscreen is a non-negotiable! Look for sunscreens that not only protect your skin from sun damage but also help repair hyperpigmentation too! Itching and burning sensations If your skin feels itchy, tingly, or has a burning sensation, even when you’re using your usual products, this could be a sign that your skin barrier has been compromised. This discomfort is your skin’s way of telling you it needs some extra care. How to fix it: Avoid using hot water on your face and skip harsh treatments like scrubs or peels. Opt for soothing, fragrance-free moisturisers and avoid over-washing. Dehydrated skin despite an oily appearance Ever had skin that feels oily on the surface but tight and dry underneath? This is a classic sign of a damaged barrier. Your skin might be overproducing oil to make up for the lack of moisture, leading to that uncomfortable mix of oily and dehydrated skin. How to fix it: Balance your skin with hydrating products that aren’t too heavy. Hyaluronic acid serums and light, non-greasy moisturisers can help provide the moisture your skin needs without adding excess oil. Ingredients like glycerin and squalane can provide moisture balance. Premature ageing Without proper protection, your skin is more exposed to free radicals and environmental damage which can accelerate the ageing process! Therefore a damaged skin barrier can lead to premature wrinkles, fine lines, and a loss of elasticity. How to fix it: Focus on repairing your barrier with nourishing, antioxidant-rich products that protect and strengthen your skin. Incorporate ingredients like peptides, vitamin C, vitamin E and sunscreen to help combat free radicals and boost collagen production.   Why do you have a damaged skin barrier? A damaged skin barrier can result from a variety of factors! Anything from your lifestyle and skincare habits to the environment. Here are the most common reasons your skin barrier could be compromised right now; Over-exfoliation Using exfoliants too frequently, whether physical scrubs or chemical exfoliants (like AHAs and BHAs), can strip away the outermost layer of your skin. This layer is crucial for protecting the underlying skin, and over-exfoliating can leave your skin vulnerable to damage. Harsh skincare products Products with high concentrations of active ingredients, such as retinol or acids, can be too strong for some skin types, especially if used too often or without proper moisturising and sun protection. Harsh cleansers with sulfates or alcohol can also strip your skin of its natural oils, leading to a weakened barrier. Environmental factors Exposure to extreme weather conditions—like harsh winds, cold temperatures, or excessive sun—can compromise your skin barrier. Pollution and other environmental toxins can also stress the skin, leading to barrier damage over time. Dehydration There are many reasons your skin might be dehydrated. From the products you are using (you need more moisture) to a change in weather or simply being over exposed to hot or cold air be it air con or heating! And then there is the chance we are simply dehydrated from not drinking enough water I know many of us can be guilty of that! Over-cleansing Washing your face too often or using water that’s too hot can strip your skin of its natural oils. This over-cleansing can disrupt the skin’s natural pH balance and lead to barrier damage. Eek! Stress and lack of sleep Sadly stress and inadequate sleep can really take a toll on our skin. Stress hormones like cortisol can lead to inflammation and impair the skin’s ability to repair itself, making your barrier more susceptible to damage. Allergies and irritants Using products that contain allergens or irritants, such as fragrances or certain preservatives, can trigger allergic reactions or irritation, leading to a compromised skin barrier. Poor diet Yes! You read that right. What you eat can definitely reflect on your skin! A diet lacking in essential nutrients like healthy fats, vitamins, and antioxidants, can weaken your skin barrier. Consuming too much sugar or processed foods can also lead to inflammation and skin issues. Ageing As you age, your skin naturally loses some of its ability to retain moisture and regenerate. This makes the skin barrier more prone to damage and less efficient at protecting against external factors. Medical Conditions Certain skin conditions, like eczema, psoriasis, or rosacea, inherently involve a compromised skin barrier. These conditions require specific care to help manage symptoms and protect the skin.   How to repair a damaged skin barrier If you now know your skin barrier has been damaged there are simple steps you can take to fix it so fear not! Just remember restoring your skin barrier won’t happen overnight though, so make sure you are consistent with your care and you will see improvements we promise! Here are a few general tips: Avoid hot water Ok so this is one I am definitely guilty of. I LOVE a piping hot shower or bath but I do know that this is damaging my skin! Sadly hot water can strip your skin of its natural oils, exacerbating dryness and irritation. Try to be less like me and use lukewarm water when at least cleansing your face! Stay Hydrated Drinking plenty of water helps to maintain your skin’s hydration levels from the inside out (one hand holding my water bottle as I type this!) Try to manage stress and get plenty of shut eye! Stress-reducing activities like meditation, listening to music and exercise can definitely help alleviate stress. And there is a reason “beauty sleep” is a thing! By trying to get enough sleep (7-9 hours day night) can really make a difference to your skin. Protect your skin from the sun Well this is definitely a given. We all know that the sun is the no. 1 cause of damage to our skin. And unfortunately a damaged barrier is more vulnerable to UV damage, so make sure to apply a broad-spectrum sunscreen daily. You should already be anyway! Simplify your routine and use nourishing skincare Less is more when your skin barrier is damaged. Stick to a basic cleanser, cut back on exfoliants, retinol creams, and other potentially irritating products and focus on gentle, hydrating serums and moisturisers formulated with nourishing and barrier-repairing ingredients including ceramides, hyaluronic acid, niacinamide and glycerin. These ingredients help to replenish your skin’s natural lipids and restore its protective function. Daily Sunscreen is a Must Why It matters: I’m certain I don’t need to tell you this since I harp on about it all the time, but for those who still aren’t being religious with their sunscreen I’m going to reiterate once again why you should! Sun exposure is one of the leading causes of premature aging. UV rays can cause wrinkles, fine lines, and age spots. Consider using a silk pillowcase to reduce friction and help keep your skin smooth and always apply a night oil or nourishing night cream. Recommended product: Phytomer Night Recharge Youth Enhancing Cream. Sometimes the moisturiser we use in the day isn’t quite enough at night. This is when a night cream is a great option! Top Tip: Include plenty of fruits, vegetables, lean proteins, and healthy fats in your diet. Foods like berries, nuts, fish, and leafy greens are particularly beneficial for the skin. Limit sugar, processed foods, and alcohol consumption. Excessive alcohol consumption and smoking can accelerate skin ageing by causing dehydration, inflammation, and collagen breakdown.   Just remember maintaining youthful skin is a blend of good skincare habits and the right products. By protecting your skin from the sun, staying hydrated, using anti-aging ingredients like retinoids and antioxidants, and maintaining a healthy lifestyle, you can keep your skin looking youthful and radiant for years to come. Seriously!

Skin in need of nourishment? These are the best products

Skin in need of nourishment? These are the best products

by Jo Boyden on Jul 26 2024
Feeling like your parched skin could do with a little extra love but not sure where to start? Whether your skin’s need for that boost of nourishment is due to stress, lack of sleep, or perhaps it’s the current cold weather that’s causing havoc with your complexion, we are here to help! Keep reading as we round up the best nourishing skincare products. 8 products that will turn your skin from dehydrated to gorgeously glowy in little to no time. Firstly though why are you currently dealing with a parched complexion? Your skin may be feeling particularly dry or dehydrated at the moment due to a combination of environmental, lifestyle, or health factors. Here are the most common causes: Environmental Factors Seasonal Changes: Cold weather and low humidity levels during winter can suck the life out of our already depleted complexion stripping moisture from our skin, leading to dryness. Indoor Heating: Having the heating pumping 24/7 (I know I’m guilty of this!) can reduce indoor humidity, further dehydrating our skin. Sun Exposure: Even in colder months, UV rays can damage our skin and deplete its moisture levels so make sure you are wearing your sunscreen daily! Lifestyle Factors Hydration: Let’s face it, many of us get a little lazy when it comes to rehydrating ourselves during the colder months but not drinking enough water can (and will!) lead to dehydrated skin. Diet: A diet lacking in essential fatty acids, vitamins, and antioxidants can impact our skin's ability to retain moisture so make sure you stock up on your leafy greens, berries and fatty fish. Hot Showers: Who doesn’t love a long hot shower in the morning (and evening!) when its cold outside but believe me when I say by doing so you will strip your skin of its natural oils, causing dryness. Lack of Sleep: Inadequate sleep can lead to a decrease in blood circulation, making the skin look pale and tired. During sleep, the skin repairs and regenerates, so lack of sleep can hinder this process. Stress: Chronic stress can lead to hormonal imbalances that affect the skin, potentially causing issues like acne, dryness, and dullness. Skincare Routine Harsh Cleansers: Using cleansers that contain alcohol or other harsh ingredients can strip your skin of its natural oils, so be vigilant about what you are putting on your skin! Lack of Moisturiser: Skipping moisturiser or using one that isn’t hydrating enough can leave your skin feeling dry. This is why we are here to help! Over-Exfoliation: Exfoliating too often can damage your skin's protective barrier, leading to moisture loss. Best to stick to exfoliating once or twice a week. Health Factors Age: Unfortunately as we age our skin not only reduces its production of collagen and elastin, but it also produces less oil too, making it more prone to dryness. Medical Conditions: Conditions like eczema, psoriasis, and hypothyroidism can cause dry skin. Medications: And if you happen to be taking certain medications right now (and that includes diuretics and acne treatments) they too can have drying effects on the skin. The best products to rejuvenate and nourish your dry and dehydrated skin Now for the products that can really help! CLEANSER: Pevonia Hydrating Cleanser Why it’s great: Everyone needs a good daily cleanser in their skincare collection and this cleanser is the one that keeps topping our favourites list year after year. Why? Because its anti-ageing and deeply nourishing! Creamy textured, it’s formulated with marine collagen, marine elastin and other natural nourishing and nurturing ingredients that hydrate and gently but deeply cleanses the skin removing impurities without any residue. How to use: Use it every morning and evening by applying a small quantity all over your face and neck and working with wet fingertips. Remove with a washcloth or a sponge wet with warm water and towel dry. Follow with Hydrating Lotion for optimal results! TONER: Pevonia Hydrating Toner Why it’s great: This nourishing toner beautifully balances skins pH while removing any residual impurities after cleansing. It also perfectly preps the skin for better absorption of that much needed serum and moisturiser to follow! Hyaluronic Acid, Licorice, and Vitamin E combine to hydrate and revive the skin. How to use: Use morning and evening after thoroughly cleansing with the Hydrating Cleanser. Wipe your face and neck with a cotton pad moist with Hydrating Lotion. How to use: In the evening, after cleansing and toning, press 3 to 5 drops of this oil all over your face and neck avoiding the eye area. Massage gently. For best results, use in the evening in conjunction with moisturiser. FACE MASK: Phytomer’s Hydrasea Thirst-Relief Rehydrating Mask Why it’s great: Fine lines, wrinkles and irritation can all be the contributors of dehydrated skin, and sometimes, you need something a bit more potent than your serum and moisturiser. Cue this mask from Phytomer! It literally feeds the skin with ultimate nourishment so you can feel your complexion tighten and plump in nearly an instant. The end result is youthfully restored skin. The ultimate skincare routine for sensitive skin

The ultimate skincare routine for sensitive skin

by Jo Boyden on Jul 04 2024
If you have sensitive skin, you’ll know how challenging it can be to find the right skincare products that actually work and don’t just exacerbate your already inflamed skin! Redness, irritation, and dryness can make it seem next to impossible to achieving that calm, radiant complexion you so wish for, but impossible it is not! With the right approach and gentle products, you can soothe your sensitive skin and maintain its overall health. Keep reading for our guide to the ultimate skincare routine for sensitive skin. A guide we’ve tailored just for you, featuring must-have products and tips to keep your sensitive skin happy and healthy. Firstly though, why are you suffering from sensitive skin? Unfortunately sensitive skin can be caused by a variety of factors. It might be due to genetics (thanks mum and dad!), making your skin more reactive to certain triggers. Environmental factors such as pollution, extreme weather conditions, and exposure to harsh chemicals can also contribute. Over exfoliated skin or simply overuse of skincare products, especially those with strong fragrances or alcohol, can strip the skin's natural barrier, leading to sensitivity. Stress and hormonal changes can also play a significant role, disrupting the skin's balance. Additionally, underlying skin conditions like eczema or rosacea can cause heightened sensitivity. It’s best to try and identify and avoid your triggers (along with using gentle skincare products) to help manage your sensitive skin. The best skincare routine for sensitive skin Step 1: Start with a Gentle Cleanser The first step in any skincare routine is cleansing, but for sensitive skin, it's crucial to use a gentle, fragrance-free cleanser that doesn’t strip away natural oils. Opt for a fragrance-free, non-foaming cleanser with soothing and healing ingredients like aloe vera, glycerin, niacinamide and chamomile. Try: Naturys 2 in 1 Makeup Remover + Micellar Gel. Formulated with nasturtium and niacinamide, this natural 2-in-1 cleanser and makeup remover is good or all skin types but has been specifically targeted for sensitive skin. Gently but effectively it removes makeup, dirt and impurities from face and eyes without causing any irritation or dryness, leaving skin instantly fresh, soothed and more supple. How to Use: Use your fingertips to apply the cleanser and gently massage onto your face in circular motions. Rinse with lukewarm water and pat your skin dry with soft towel to avoid further irritation. Step 2: Hydrating Oil Oils are like potent treatments that target specific concerns deeply nurturing the skin. For sensitive skin, choose an oil that focuses on hydration and calming effects. Try: Naturys Sensitive Hydra Oil. This quick-absorbing soothing face oil is particularly suitable for sensitive skin types and is the best ally against skin redness and irritation, signs of stress, pollution and blue light. Rich in plant-based active ingredients, including blueberry oil, bisabolol, and lycopene, it protects skin from environmental damage while diffusing redness and discomfort. How to Use: Apply a few drops to clean, dry or slightly damp face and neck, gently patting it into your skin until fully absorbed. Can be used alone or mixed with your moisturiser. Step 3: Moisturiser Moisturising is essential for locking in hydration and protecting your skin barrier. Choose a moisturiser that is free from fragrances, dyes, and other potential irritants and instead opt for nourishing, soothing ingredients that will hydrate, calm and improve skin. Try: Naturys De-Sensitive Cream. The perfect antidote for reactive and dehydrated skin prone to redness, this beautifully nourishing cream effectively calms skin while combatting redness. Copper Tripeptides also help promote collagen and elastin production, firming the skin and reducing fine lines while increasing oxygen supply for more supple skin. How to Use: Apply the moisturiser to your face and neck, gently massaging it in until fully absorbed. Step 4: Sunscreen Sunscreen is a non-negotiable step in any skincare routine. But sadly sensitive skin is particularly vulnerable to sun damage so sunscreen is a must. Sensitive skin needs broad-spectrum protection without harsh chemicals. A mineral-based sunscreen is less likely to irritate and provides effective protection. Look for ingredients like zinc oxide or titanium dioxide. Try: Hubislab Post Rays UV Protect Sun Block SPF 50+++. Not only is it formulated with both zinc oxide and titanium dioxide so perfect for sensitive and ageing skin since zero irritation, it’s also rich in hydrolyzed Collagen and peptides keeping skin nourished, soft and supple! Its invisible matte formula also applies smoothly and stays on all day long! How to Use: Apply a generous amount of sunscreen to your face and neck every morning, even on cloudy days. Step 5: Weekly Treatment – Exfoliator A weekly treatment like an exfoliator can provide essential extra care for sensitive skin. And I know you might be thinking exfoliating sounds counterintuitive, after all you don’t want to exacerbate your already irritated skin, right? The thing is exfoliating is essential for everyone, no matter your skin type. Why? Because it removes dulling dead skin cells, prevents clogged pores and encourages cell turnover, you just have to be careful what sort of exfoliator you use! Try: Naturys Sensitive Enzymatic Peeling Cream. Formulated for all skin types including those suffering with common skin sensitivities, this exfoliant and regenerating cream gently removes dead cells and unclogs the pores without causing any irritation. As you work the cream into your skin, the pineapple and papaya enzymes, combined with AHAs and rice microgranules, gently but deeply exfoliate skin eliminating impurities, blackheads, dead cells, sebum and toxins. Your complexion after? Softer, smoother, calmer and brighter! How to Use: Apply the peel 1-2 times a week onto the face and delicately massage. Leave on for 5-7 minutes and rinse with warm water. Avoid the eye contours. Additional tips for sensitive skin Patch Test New Products: Always test new products on a small area of your skin before applying them to your entire face to ensure you don’t have an adverse reaction. Avoid Harsh Ingredients: Steer clear of products with alcohol, fragrances, and harsh exfoliants. Look for labels that indicate "hypoallergenic" and "non-comedogenic." Stay Hydrated and Maintain a Healthy Diet: Drinking plenty of water and eating a balanced diet rich in antioxidants can help support your skin's health. Remember taking care of sensitive skin doesn’t have to be daunting. By following this ultimate skincare routine and using gentle, effective products, you can reduce irritation, strengthen your skin barrier, and achieve a calm, radiant complexion. Remember consistency and patience are key!

The benefits of face oils and the best ones for your skin

by Jo Boyden on Jun 14 2024
If your skin is feeling particularly parched or you’re wondering how to achieve that coveted healthy glow, face oils could be your answer. These potent elixirs are packed with nourishing ingredients that can seriously transform your skin, offering benefits that extend far beyond simple hydration. From enhancing your skin's barrier to providing a boost of antioxidants, face oils are a necessary addition to any skincare routine. Keep reading as we reveal everything there is to know about face oils, from their multitude of benefits that moisturisers and serums alone may not provide, to the best ones for your skin type. Whether your skin is dry, oily, sensitive, or mature, there's a face oil out there for you! Firstly, exactly what are face oils? Face oils are typically formulated with botanical and essential oils as well as plant extracts and antioxidants. They are designed to soften, nourish and balance your complexion, locking in hydration and providing skin with the additional moisture it needs for a truly glowing complexion. Non-comedogenic, they won’t clog pores and cause breakouts either! Why use a face oil Adding a face oil to your skincare routine can be a transformative step towards achieving healthier, more radiant skin. Face oils are packed with nourishing ingredients that penetrate deeply into the skin, providing intense hydration and locking in moisture. They can help balance oil production, making them suitable for various skin types, including oily and acne-prone skin. Face oils also contain antioxidants that combat free radicals, reducing signs of aging like fine lines and wrinkles. Whether used alone or mixed with your moisturiser or foundation, face oils will leave your skin feeling soft, supple, and glowing. The Benefits of Face Oils Adding a face oil to your skincare routine can be beneficial for several reasons Deep Hydration Face oils are incredible for deep hydration. Unlike moisturisers that may evaporate quickly, or often sit on the surface of your skin, oils penetrate deeply into the skin, locking in moisture and keeping your skin soft and supple. Enhanced Skin Barrier Our skin barrier is essential for keeping out pollutants and retaining moisture. Face oils contain essential fatty acids that strengthen this barrier, making your skin more resilient and less prone to irritation. Rich in Antioxidants Many face oils are packed with antioxidants, which help combat free radicals and prevent premature aging. Oils like argan are rich in vitamins A and E, promoting skin elasticity and reducing fine lines. Skin plumping In your 40s wrinkles can start to look more obvious because the skin’s natural oils decrease, the moisture barrier breaks down, and the skin dries out. Because oils are lipophilic, or fat loving, they pass through the lipid layer of the skin faster, preventing water loss and plumping skin with moisture more effectively. Balancing Properties It might seem counterintuitive, but oils can help balance oily and acne-prone skin. Oils like tea tree and grapeseed have antimicrobial properties and can regulate sebum production, reducing breakouts and giving you a clearer complexion. Soothing and Calming For those with sensitive or irritated skin, oils such as chamomile and calendula can provide soothing relief. Their anti-inflammatory properties help reduce redness and calm irritated skin, promoting a more even and calm complexion. The best oil for your skin type The most nurturing oil for sensitive skin Naturys Sensitive Hydra Oil If you suffer from sensitive skin and are prone to redness and irritation, this oil really can help transform your complexion! Its deeply nurturing formulation of blueberry oil, bisabolol, and lycopene, not only soothes skin and calms redness, but it also nourishes and protects skin from environmental and blue light damage! “I love this oil, it’s really helped my sensitive skin. With its incredible scent and silky texture, it leaves skin feeling ultra soft and hydrated. Its great for my combination skin. I use this product in the morning before my Lumafirm Repair Cream. My skin has never looked better. The De-Stress Escape Oil is my new favourite product!” Anne When to use a face oil It’s best to incorporate your facial oils in the night-time skincare routine, as when kept overnight, skin can best absorb the oil, which in turn helps to nurture and repair the cells. However, you can also add it to your foundation or moisturiser especially during the winter to get an extra level of nourishment. Myths About Face Oils Oils Will Make My Skin Oily: The right oil can actually help balance oil production and reduce greasiness. Oils Cause Breakouts: Non-comedogenic oils are designed not to clog pores and can actually help prevent acne. Oils Are Only for Dry Skin: There’s a suitable oil for every skin type, each offering unique benefits. Face oils are a powerful addition to any skincare routine, providing hydration, protection, and nourishment. Whether you are looking to hydrate, balance or rejuvenate your complexion, with the right oil tailored to your skin type, you can achieve a healthier, more radiant skin.
