This is the product you need for glowing summer skin

This is the product you need for glowing summer skin

When it comes to achieving a truly natural glow, there are a number of steps you need to take, from what you eat and the exercise you do, to of course the skincare products you apply, but those brightening serums and skin radiance moisturisers aren’t going to work their magic unless your skin is properly prepped. Cue exfoliation! The easiest way to bring your dull skin back to life! But when we talk exfoliation, any old exfoliator won’t do, making sure you are using the right formula really is paramount! If dullness, dryness or uneven skin texture is holding your glow back, it’s time to introduce a game-changing formula into your routine! A product that makes getting glowing skin easier than ever I’m telling you! But before unveiling the latest skincare obsession, let's discuss why exfoliation is so essential!    What does exfoliation do for your skin? Exfoliation is one of the most important steps in any skincare routine because it helps keep your skin smooth, bright, and healthy. Throughout the day, dead skin cells accumulate on the surface of your skin, leading to dullness, uneven texture, and clogged pores and even breakouts. Regular exfoliation helps to slough away these dead cells, allowing new, fresh skin to come through—instantly making your complexion look more radiant and even-toned. Beyond just improving skin texture, exfoliation also helps boost the effectiveness of your other skincare products. When dead skin builds up, it creates a barrier that prevents your serums, moisturisers, and treatments from properly absorbing into the skin. By removing this layer, your skincare ingredients can penetrate deeper and work more efficiently. Exfoliation also plays a key role in preventing acne and minimizing pores by keeping them free of excess oil, debris, and bacteria. Plus, if you’re dealing with fine lines or hyperpigmentation, exfoliation can help stimulate cell turnover, which improves skin elasticity and reduces dark spots over time. But here’s the tricky part, not all exfoliators are created equal. Many can be too harsh, causing irritation, redness, or even stripping the skin’s natural barrier so you need to be aware of what you are using and the key ingredients that will brighten while being kind! Introducing Hubislab Papaya Enzyme Peeling Wash. This isn’t just another exfoliator, it’s a gentle yet powerful and effective formula that melts away dullness, unclogs pores, clears congestion, and leaves your skin impossibly smooth and radiant. Formulated with papaya fruit enzymes, it works its magic by effortlessly dissolving dead skin cells, refining texture and brightening your complexion, all without harsh scrubbing with can cause irritation (making it the perfect product for even those with sensitive skin.) It’s like a mini at-home spa treatment! Trust us, you haven’t experienced glowing skin until you’ve tried this!   The key ingredient Papaya enzymes are a skincare superhero when it comes to exfoliation! Derived from the papaya fruit, these natural enzymes, particularly papain, work as a gentle yet effective exfoliant, breaking down and dissolving dead skin cells without the need for harsh scrubbing. Unlike traditional exfoliators that rely on gritty particles or strong acids, papaya enzymes soften and lift away impurities using enzymatic action, making them ideal for all skin types, including sensitive skin. They help smooth texture, brighten dull skin, and unclog pores, all while being incredibly non-irritating. Additionally, papaya enzymes offer more than just exfoliation—they also contain anti-inflammatory and skin-soothing properties, helping to calm redness and irritation. Plus, papaya is naturally rich in antioxidants and vitamins A, C, and E, which support skin repair and promote a healthy, radiant glow. So, if you're looking for a powerful yet gentle way to exfoliate, Hubislab’s Papaya Enzyme Peeling Wash really is the perfect choice for revealing fresh, smooth, and luminous skin, without irritation! Everyone in the BC office can vouch for this!
Summer skin: The best body moisturisers for your skins needs

Summer skin: The best body moisturisers for your skins needs

by Jo Boyden on Jan 17 2025
If you love summer like me, you’ll likely be enjoying the warm, longer days and outdoor activities, but sadly, the summer heat can be harsh on our skin, leaving it feeling dry, tight, or even irritated. And unlike our skincare, many of us are guilty of not looking after the skin on our bodies daily, as we should!  If you’ve been overdoing it in the sun, simply find your skin drier than it usually is, or are worried about ageing and a crepey uneven skin tone, it’s time to get serious about what you’re applying to your body. From lightweight lotions, intensely nourishing creams and after sun soothing gels, we’ve rounded up the best summer skin savours for your skin’s needs, 7 products to ensure your body is kept soft, smooth and supple this season.   1. For long days spent outdoors: SPF-infused moisturisers Protecting your skin from harmful UV rays is non-negotiable in summer. SPF-infused body moisturisers are perfect for lazy poolside afternoons or outdoor adventures. Look for broad-spectrum SPF 30 or higher to ensure adequate sun protection, as well as it being deeply nourishing at the same time. For Crepey skin: Firming and hydrating creams Crepey body skin occurs due to a combination of factors, which includes ageing and dehydration but it can also be exacerbated due to prolonged UV exposure which breaks down collagen and elastin accelerating skin ageing and contributing to crepey texture! Addressing these causes with hydrating, collagen-boosting, and protective skincare products can help improve the texture and resilience of crepey skin. To smooth and firm your skin, look for moisturisers rich in ingredients like peptides, retinol, and hyaluronic acid. These ingredients can improve elasticity while deeply hydrating the skin. But all is not lost since it can easily be addressed with brightening body lotions. Make sure you look for formulations with vitamin C, niacinamide, or licorice extract to help fade dark spots and even out your skin tone over time while restoring radiance. Focus on problem areas: Yes! You should be applying your cream all over your body but make sure you do pay extra attention to areas prone to dryness or crepiness, such as elbows, knees, and the back of your hands. Use SPF daily: This is a given! Make sure you apply and then reapply sunscreen throughout the day to protect your skin from UV damage. Exfoliate weekly: Gently exfoliate your skin to remove dead cells. It will allow your moisturiser to penetrate better and be more effective!   From preventing dryness to soothing sunburn, the perfect body moisturizer can make all the difference in your summer skincare routine.
9 beauty trends to watch in 2025

9 beauty trends to watch in 2025

by Jo Boyden on Jan 17 2025
It’s here, 2025! And the beauty world is already abuzz with a fresh wave of beauty trends.   This year is all about embracing individuality, prioritizing wellness, and making conscious choices with a focus on natural, sustainable products, self-care, and cutting-edge innovations.  From skincare to haircare, keep reading to discover the 2025 beauty trends you need to know!  1. Wellness-Centric Beauty  The beauty and wellness worlds have officially merged, creating a new era of holistic self-care. Beauty will be increasingly tied to mental and emotional health, making self-care not just a luxury but an essential part of a healthy lifestyle. The focus is no longer just on looking good, but also on feeling good with an increasing focus on self-care rituals that promote mental clarity, relaxation and sleep.  Products, treatments and practices will focus on nourishing your body, mind and soul! From stress-reducing beauty tools, such as gemstone facial rollers, to aromatherapy infused formulations designed to improve mood and well-being. Incorporating mindfulness into your daily routine will also be on the increase, as well as prioritizing sleep and indulging in relaxing bath rituals. Sounds good to me just need to find the time now!  Why it's trending  Mental health is increasingly being recognised globally. Finally, consumers are starting to prioritise their overall well-being, seeking products that deliver beauty benefits while supporting their mental and physical health.  Our recommendations  Pevonia De-Stress Escape Aromatic Oil - Nourishing face oils are not only important for strengthening your skin but can also be great for your wellbeing too! One of my personal favourites, and adored by many, Pevonia De-Stress Escape Aromatic Oil is the ultimate face oil for your night-time ritual. Just as the name suggests, it quite literally takes you on a de-stressing journey as it eases anxiety while instantly delivering intense hydration and total relaxation for glowing, healthy skin! How? Because of its amazing formulation which includes four pure essential oils; lavender, chamomile, rose and grapefruit to calm, sooth, and deeply rejuvenate mind and skin! Heaven. Even better apply with a Gemstone facial roller. These little massage beauty’s (also touted as an “anti-ageing tool”) offer a multitude of benefits for the skin (and mindset) when used regularly and correctly. They can help fight wrinkles, stimulate collagen production, tighten skin and pores, increase blood circulation to the face, clear toxins, decrease puffiness under the eyes and around the face, and potentially improve inflammatory skin conditions too! Oh, and they even have the ability to release tension! (And did I mention are soo soothing and calming on the skin.) Unfortunately, there is no one size fits all though, with a range of gemstone options, it’s important to look at their individual properties and benefits to find which one will work best for you! To find out more about their benefits as well as how to incorporate them into your daily skincare routine click there.  Pevonia Micro-Emulsion Massage Oil Anti-Stress - Never underestimate the power of massage! And yes I know for many of us a trip to our local spa or salon seems a long way off now, but it is possible to give yourself a little shoulder massage or if you live at home with others try and rope them into doing it for you! My little kids have become pros these last few lockdowns and they absolutely love playing therapist! While it’s not as relaxing or comfortable as I might like! It’s fun for all the family. For a therapeutic back and shoulder massage to alleviate aches and pains at the hands of stress, I highly recommend Pevonia’s Micro Emulsion Massage Oil Anti-Stress. It has a gorgeous aroma, is formulated with nourishing ingredients including Safflower, Geranium, and Orange Oils and it immediately releases pent up tension and fatigue. Bliss.  Phytomer Oligomer Well Being Sensation Essential Minerals Relaxing Bath – Little instantly reduces stress quite like taking a relaxing remineralizing bath. Such a simple yet indulgent way to totally unwind and enjoy ‘me time’. Even better, light a few candles, pop on some soothing sounds, and let the days stresses literally melt away.     This Phytomer balneotherapy treatment at home is the ultimate mineral bath I’m telling you! It’s lightly foaming and enriched with Oligomer – a partially sodium-reduced seawater concentrate that contains all of the remineralizing properties of seawater (yess!) to relax the mind, while revitalizing, strengthening and restoring the skin alleviating any pent-up tension. Oh and its gorgeous Green Tea and Jasmine fragrance is also diffused throughout the duration of your bath leaving a trail of freshness and lightness on your skin. Honestly, it’s bliss.   2. Beauty from within  Gut health will continue to be an essential part of beauty in 2025, as more studies show the link between a healthy gut and radiant skin. Probiotic skincare and ingestible beauty supplements will become more popular, as people seek ways to improve their skin from within. Look for products that combine probiotics, prebiotics, vitamins, and minerals to target specific skin concerns like acne, fine lines, and inflammation.  Why it’s trending  Consumers are prioritising science-backed, wellness-driven solutions that support the skin’s microbiome, boosting natural defence, hydration and overall health. These formulations align perfectly with this year’s focus on holistic self-care too!  Our recommendations  To learn all about pro and prebiotics in skincare and our top 3 recommendations click here.  3. Skin-first cosmetics  The mantra for 2025 is clear! Healthy skin is in. The "skin-first" trend is all about having a healthy, natural complexion over heavy makeup, with products designed to enhance your natural glow. Think dewy foundations, multitasking tinted moisturisers, and skincare-makeup hybrids packed with active ingredients.  Why it’s trending  Consumers want products that blur the line between skincare and makeup, simplifying routines while delivering long-term benefits.  Our recommendations  ELES Liquid Powder Mineral Foundation SPF 15 - Foundation, in the past, has always been categorised as makeup, a short term ‘fix’ or superficial layer to conceal flaws and help create the illusion of perfect skin. But who says your foundation can’t have long-term skin benefits like your skincare products? After all shouldn’t your foundation enhance your complexion not mask it? Well ELES’s best-selling Liquid Powder Mineral Foundation does just this! Not only is it formulated with anti-inflammatory zinc as well as Vitamins A, C and E, it allows skin to “breathe freely” whilst shielding against age aggressors. It’s free of heavy fillers and pore-clogging ingredients (phew!) and the skin-safe formula contains no chemical ‘nasties’ or potential irritants, such as fragrance, talc, oil and dyes. If you are a lover of liquid foundation but after something silky and light, then you should invest in this beauty! Not only does it provide a flawless, soft, subtle powder finish, it also provides broad spectrum sun protection! Honestly what more could you ask for!  ELES Blue Light Radiant BB Cream 30 - This outstanding BB Cream is packed with a powerhouse of nourishing skincare goodies including peptides, vitamin C, niacinamide, hyaluronic acid, and vitamin E! Multi-tasking it protects, primes, tints, nourishes, evens out skin tone and helps to strengthen skin and its game-changing formula shields skin from not only from damaged UV rays but blue light from our devices too! Not just another BB Cream, this BB Cream will improve your skin’s elasticity while softening the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles and will leave skin with a long-lasting radiant glow every time you apply. It’s brilliant!  ELES Dual Action Concealer - Packed with collagen, vitamins C & E, hyaluronic, Tetrapeptide 5 and Matrixyl® Synthe 6™, this anti-aging concealer not only conceals fine lines and dark circles, it smooths, brightens, depuffs and treats them too, all whilst helping gradually improve skin's texture and elasticity around the eyes! Eyes look beautifully refreshed and radiant. Its medium coverage formula provides continuous hydration and a natural longwearing finish. Apply beneath the eyes and pat into the skin to look as though you’ve just slept 10 hours.    4. Sustainable and Clean Beauty  Eco-conscious beauty is no longer a niche. it’s the standard! This year, environmental consciousness will be driving demand for sustainable and clean beauty products. Consumers have really started scrutinizing product safety and environmental impact and are after brands that adopt eco-friendly packaging, ethically sourced ingredients, and transparent manufacturing processes.  Why it's trending  Awareness of environmental issues has heightened, and consumers are demanding accountability from beauty brands.  Our recommendations  At Beauty Collective our focus IS on providing our customers with the best of the best when it comes to our brands which includes sustainable beauty formulated with high-quality, pure, natural and marine ingredients. From eco-friendly packaging, cruelty-free formulations, sustainable initiatives and responsible manufacturing, each of our brands are committed to reducing environmental impact and ensuring ethical sourcing to help combat climate change and build a more responsible, future-focused beauty industry.    5. Biotech Skincare  2025 is set to usher in a new era of biotechnology-infused skincare. There will be an increased focus on products powered by lab-grown ingredients, which are not only effective but are also cruelty-free and sustainable.   Biotechnology uses a minimal amount of plant tissue gently scraped from the source. This process helps preserve the plant’s tissue for a better, healthier extract. Without damaging or endangering the botanical species, this process ensures zero negative impact on the environment. Earth’s natural sources are unharmed. Additionally, biotechnology aids in the removal of pollution from our soil, water, and air. In fact, by 2030 the World Wildlife Fund estimates that Biotechnology “has the potential to save the planet up to 2.5 billion tons of CO₂ emissions per year.”  AMAZING!  Why it's trending  Biotech is looking to be a major trend in 2025 due to its ability to create high-performance, sustainable ingredients through lab innovation. From lab-grown actives to vegan collagen, biotech offers eco-friendly, science-backed solutions that cater to consumers’ demand for effective, ethical, and environmentally conscious beauty products. Phew!  Our recommendations  Phytomer products  At the forefront of cosmetic discoveries, Phytomer Laboratory is one of the few in the world to master marine biotechnology. This advanced method consists of cultivating marine microorganisms to produce totally new natural active ingredients with remarkable effectiveness on the skin.  Pevonia Stem Cells line incorporates a breakthrough biotechnology proven to successfully generate and cultivate plant stem cells. This outstanding youth enhancing range harnesses the power of natural plant stem cells to repair, rejuvenate, and protect skin. Designed for anti-aging, it boosts cell renewal, reduces wrinkles, and restores elasticity. With advanced formulations, it delivers visible results while promoting skin health, making it a favourite in luxury skincare!    6. Advanced Haircare Solutions  The focus on hair health is intensifying this year, with products offering scalp care and bond-building treatments gaining popularity. Innovations such as overnight repair serums and protective styling products are becoming essential components of haircare routines.   Whether you’re addressing hair damage or prioritising scalp health, 2025 is all about personalised hair solutions.  Why it’s trending  People are realising that healthy hair starts with a healthy scalp, and brands are delivering targeted solutions to meet these needs.  Our recommendations  Pevonia Hair Energize Extra-Strength Overnight Serum - Infused with encapsulated caffeine, keratin, vegetal biotin, moisturising panthenol and rosemary leaf extract, this highly concentrated, lightweight yet nourishing serum works deeply into the scalp to combat hair loss and thinning hair while improving hair moisture, resilience, flexibility, and manageability. The result – healthier, stronger, fuller and more vibrant tresses!  For more information on Pevonia’s entire Hair Energize Collection and the outstanding results for hair health click here. 7. Minimalist Makeup with Bold Accents  Minimalist beauty reigns supreme this year, but it’s far from boring! Glowing skin and natural finishes form the base, while bold accents like vibrant blush, graphic eyeliner, or statement lip colour add a touch of personality.  Why it’s trending The trend reflects a balance between simplicity and self-expression, making it easy to adapt to individual tastes.  Our recommendations ELES Mineral Sheer Tint - loaded with minerals, vitamins and sun protection this beautiful, tinted moisturiser (and one of ELES Cosmetics best-sellers) imparts a sheer, natural radiance to skin (no joke). It’s skin caring and skin perfecting in one simple step!! Baked Blush in Tulip – this pigment packed soft power blush packs a punch when it comes to long lasting vibrancy that’s for sure! Baked on Italian Terra Cotta Tiles to give the product a creamy texture, they have been uniquely designed to be used wet or dry, but when worn wet with a makeup sponge they will provide intensity to any look! What’s more it can also be used as an eye shadow, and when applied with a damp brush can even work as a matte lip colour too! 8. Blue Health  Blue health is a wellness concept focused on the physical and mental benefits of interacting with the sea. Rooted in the idea that water fosters relaxation and rejuvenation, it’s gaining traction in 2025 as people prioritise holistic self-care. This trend extends into beauty and wellness, with marine-based skincare ingredients like algae and seaweed taking centre stage for their hydrating and nutrient-rich properties. Additionally, water therapies, ocean-inspired rituals are reshaping self-care routines. Blue health resonates deeply as consumers seek harmony with nature and prioritise eco-conscious, wellness-driven lifestyles.  Why it’s trending  From marine-based skincare ingredients to water therapy and ocean conservation efforts, blue health aligns with holistic self-care and sustainability.   Our recommendations Phytomer harnesses the power of ocean-derived ingredients like seaweed, algae, and seawater to create high-performance, sustainable skincare. With its commitment to eco-friendly practices and marine biotechnology, Phytomer embodies the essence of Blue Health, offering products that not only enhance skin health but also inspire a deeper connection to the sea and its healing properties. I personally LOVE Phytomer and use their products for my daily skin and body ritual. Some personal favourites of mine include; Phytomer Cyfolia Organic Radiance Cleansing Cream - This super-soft, velvety and creamy cleansing cream is formulated with so many clever ingredients including; the formidable Cyfolia algae, revitalising seawater – oligomer, organic orange water, organic vegetal oils, rose, cedarwood, spiced pink peppercorns, and aloe vera which envelope the skin with a beautiful, fresh fragrance. It’s soo good!  9. Glass Skin 2.0: The Dewy, Hydrated Glow-Up  The glass skin trend is back (well actually it never really left!), but this time it's all about achieving a healthy, hydrated glow from within. Focus on skincare that nourishes and plumps the skin and embrace a minimalist makeup approach that lets your natural radiance shine through.  Why it's trending  Glass Skin 2.0 is trending this year as it redefines the original trend of achieving a luminous, poreless complexion. In the ever-evolving world of beauty, everyone is constantly searching for the best tips, tricks, and solutions to achieve the perfect complexion or that much desired look, so it’s no surprise that many of us take to Google to seek answers. From explaining the benefits of retinol, the best way to get rid of spots, to how to minimise pores, keep reading to learn all about the most common beauty questions us Aussies typed into Google this year.   How do I reduce the size of my pores? Pores are tiny openings in the skin that release oil and sweat. While their size is genetic, they can appear larger due to oil buildup, dirt, or ageing. The good news is you can minimise their appearance by following a few simple steps, this includes being religious when it comes to cleansing twice daily, making sure you exfoliate to remove dry skin build up, opting for pore-refining products formulated with salicylic acid or niacinamide and making sure you protect your skin with sunscreen and anti-ageing products to maintain skins elasticity. For your ultimate guide to minimising large pores and the best products click here.   How to contour? Contouring has become a very popular makeup technique, with so many seeking tutorials and tips. It’s all about creating shadows and highlights to enhance your facial features giving you face a more sculpted, lifted look. To contour you need to use a matte contour shade two shades darker than your skin tone and a highlighter for the high points of your face and remember practice and experimentation are key! For you step by step guide on how to contour like a pro click here.   What does retinol do for your skin? Retinol, a derivative of vitamin A, is a powerhouse ingredient in skincare. If fact retinol is known as the “super-ingredient” every beauty professional hails as the holy grail of the skincare world when it comes to premature ageing! It boosts collagen production, reduces the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, and promotes cell turnover for smoother, brighter skin. Retinol also helps fade dark spots, minimise acne, and refine pores, leaving your complexion more even and youthful. Regular use can transform dull, ageing, or blemish-prone skin. However, it should be introduced gradually to avoid irritation and always paired with sunscreen, as it increases skin sensitivity to sunlight. From hydration heroes to collagen boosting wonders, each one has been handpicked for their ability to transform your skincare routine and deliver visible results in little to no time!     Firstly though, what makes a serum a must-have in your skincare routine? Unlike moisturisers, serums are lightweight and highly concentrated, allowing them to penetrate deeper and work more effectively on specific skin concerns. They’re formulated with game-changing ingredients like retinol, hyaluronic acid, and peptides, which are proven to rejuvenate, hydrate, and repair the skin. Whether you’re looking to boost radiance, smooth out wrinkles, or prevent premature ageing, there’s a serum for your every need.   How to choose the right serum The best serum for you depends on your skin type and concerns; If you are concerned about fine lines and wrinkles, you’ll want to opt for a serum rich in retinol or peptides. If its dullness and pigmentation you want to improve, choose a serum formulated with vitamin C or niacinamide. If you are dealing with dryness and dehydration, make sure you look to introducing a hyaluronic acid serum to your skincare routine. Why you need to use a night cream and the best ones for you

Why you need to use a night cream and the best ones for you

by Jo Boyden on Oct 25 2024
Ever wonder why your skin feels tired, dull, or even dry in the morning? The answer may lie in what you're missing at night! While you sleep, your skin enters repair mode, making it the perfect time to give it a little extra help with a night cream. These creams are designed to deeply nourish, hydrate, and rejuvenate your skin while you rest, so you wake up with a fresher, more radiant complexion. Keep reading as we explain why exactly it is that you should introduce a night cream to your routine if you haven’t already, and the best ones for your skin.   Why you need a night cream During the day, our skin battles environmental stressors like pollution, UV rays, blue light damage from our digital devices and for many of us makeup too, which can lead to premature ageing and other skin issues over time. But at night, while you sleep, your skin’s natural repair process kicks in, working to heal any damage and regenerate cells. Amazing right? Well a night cream can boost this process, leaving you with a smoother, more radiant complexion by morning.   But why not simply use your day moisturiser instead of a night cream you might ask? Unlike daytime moisturisers, which mainly focus on hydration and protection, night creams are packed with a multitude of richer, more potent ingredients from hyaluronic acid, to peptides, ceramides, niacinamide and more, that work together to enhance skin renewal and elasticity, target fine lines, as well as restore moisture levels. They are also formulated with active ingredients like retinol that works best when you’re sleeping. These ingredients promote cell turnover, smooth fine lines, and prevent early signs of ageing. Therefore if you skip this imperative step in your routine at night, you’re missing out on some of the most intense repair and hydration your skin can get! Night creams are also formulated to penetrate deeper into your skin providing intense hydration that lasts throughout the night!   How to choose the best night cream? Not all night creams are created equal! Just with your day creams, the best one for you depends on your skin type and concerns. If you’re battling dryness, look for rich, creamy formulations rich in hyaluronic acid or ceramides for deep hydration. For anti-ageing, opt for formulas with retinol or peptides to firm and smooth your skin. If brightening is your goal, night creams with vitamin C or niacinamide work wonders for evening out your complexion and reducing dark spots. And if you are worried about blemishes and acne marks, choose something with niacinamide and tea tree oil.   How often should you use a night cream? For the best results, you should be using a night cream every night after cleansing your skin. You can also use it over one or more serums as a night cream will lock in the benefits while retaining moisture in the skin.   Our top night cream recommendations; Best for Dry Skin Phytomer Hydrasea Night Plumping Rich Cream This gorgeously nourishing comfort cream literally envelopes the skin immediately restoring the skin barrier and locking in moisture leaving your skin feeling soft and supple by morning. Night after night, skin appears more plumped and revitalised.  1 review   Best for dull skin Vie Collection Night Peel Progressive Resurfacing Cream This ultra-soft night version of the chemical peel is a modern balm with a creamy texture that offers complete exfoliation to the skin, helping to brighten, refine and improve smoothness for a younger-looking complexion. Its formula is enriched with benchmark acids and has a progressive diffusion to act continuously all through the night. Each morning the complexion appears more luminous and even. After one month the skin looks renewed. Seriously.   Best for ageing skin Pevonia Micro Retinol Essential Moisturiser This light and gentle moisturiser increases cell turnover, stimulates collagen and elastin production (essential for youthful, plump skin), fades hyperpigmentation and helps skin stay hydrated and glowing without irritation. It’s a multi-tasking wonder! You should introduce it slowly though. This is because retinol makes your skin more sensitive to UV rays and sunlight decreases the efficacy of the product, hence why its such an essential night cream. To find out more about retinol and this Pevonia’s Micro Retinol range click here. Best for hyperpigmented skin Hubislab Derma Max Brightening Clinic This deeply moisturising night cream formulated with tranexamic acid, antioxidants and vitamins, nourishes the skin whilst soothing irritation, improving elasticity, correcting pigmentation and brightening the complexion all whilst you sleep! With the right night cream, you will wake up to healthier, plumper, nourished and glowing skin every morning!
Menopause and your skin: The effects and the best solutions

Menopause and your skin: The effects and the best solutions

by Jo Boyden on Oct 11 2024
If you’re perimenopausal (or perhaps you’ve already reached the menopause), you’ll likely feeling it’s effects. Your body is going through changes, your hormones are out of sync and your skincare routine that once worked wonders is now having little to no effect! But why is this you may be thinking? We all know Menopause is a natural part of ageing, but some of the changes it brings can be somewhat of a surprise – especially when it comes to our skin! From unexpected dryness to deep set wrinkles, keep reading as we discuss exactly how the menopause affects our skin and the best solutions to care for it.   So what exactly happens to your skin during perimenopause and menopause? During perimenopause and menopause, your skin starts to undergo noticeable changes due to hormonal fluctuations, particularly the decline in estrogen levels.   Common Skin Concerns During Menopause Wrinkles and sagging skin Estrogen stimulates collagen production, which keeps skin firm and plump. As estrogen levels drop during perimenopause, collagen production starts to dramatically decrease, leading to thinning skin, sagging, and more pronounced, deeper wrinkles especially around the mouth, eyes and neck! Reduced elasticity Along with collagen loss, elastin fibers—responsible for skin's elasticity—also break down, resulting in looser, less resilient skin. Increased dryness Estrogen also helps regulate the skin’s moisture levels by boosting natural oil production. As this decreases, your skin may become drier, rougher, tighter and more prone to irritation. It may also become more sensitive to products that once felt fine. Thinning skin As estrogen levels drop, and therefore with less collagen and moisture the skin’s protective barrier weakens, causing it to thin and making it more fragile and prone to bruising, sensitivity, and damage. Age spots Hormonal changes combined with years of sun exposure can exacerbate pigmentation issues resulting in the appearance of more age spots or dark patches, particularly on the face, hands, and chest. Slower cell turnover The rate at which your skin regenerates, slows down, leading to a dull, uneven complexion and a buildup of dead skin cells. These changes can affect your overall skin texture and appearance, but the right skincare routine can help manage and improve these concerns. Blemishes Pimples and breakouts are surprisingly common as you approach the menopause transition. And if you had a history of acne as a teenager, you’ll more susceptible to getting acne flare ups around the menopause too! This typically happens due to fluctuations in hormone levels. As estrogen levels decrease, the effects of male sex hormones called androgens increase. Androgens increase the production of sebum, the skin's natural oil. This excess oil can then mix with bacteria, dead skin and debris to clog pores resulting in breakouts! The best skincare tips and products for perimenopausal and menopausal skin Perimenopausal and menopausal skin requires extra care due to hormonal changes that affect its texture, hydration, and elasticity. Here are some of the best skincare tips and products to keep your skin healthy and radiant during this phase!   Hydration is key As estrogen levels drop, your skin produces less natural oil, leading to dryness. To combat this you need to use a rich, hydrating moisturiser. Look for products with ingredients like hyaluronic acid, glycerin, and ceramides to lock in moisture and strengthen the skin barrier. Solution: We highly recommend Pevonia Age Correction Marine Collagen Cream. This Pevonia global best-seller and beautifully nourishing cream is not only rich in ceramides, glycerin and hyaluronic acid but collagen too! Deeply hydrating, it rejuvenates skin, replenishing vital nutrients while softening fine lines and wrinkles. It’s so good! Boost collagen production Loss of collagen and elastin leads to sagging and wrinkles. To promote collagen synthesis you’ll want to use products rich in retinol and or peptides: Retinol increases cell turnover and collagen production, while peptides help stimulate collagen to improve firmness. Solution: Hailed the anti-ageing wonder serum, Medicalia's Retinol Concentrate is designed to normalize and boost cellular performance with Micro-Retinol technology. Ideal for all mature skin types or as preventative care, the serum helps improve elasticity, plump the skin and diminish the look of wrinkles, resulting in a brighter, more evenly toned complexion. Protect from UV damage Menopausal skin is more prone to sun damage, which can lead to age spots and further loss of elasticity so youll need to be sure that you are religious about applying broad-spectrum SPF daily. Make sure you choose at least SPF 30 to prevent further UV damage and hyperpigmentation. Solution: From Hubislab's Post Rays UV Protect Sun Block SPF50+ PA+++ to Vie Collection's Mela White Protective Sunscreen SPF 30 find out all about SPF protection and the best one for you here. Gentle exfoliation is a must When youre going through the perimenopause and menopause cell turnover starts to really slow down, leading to dull, uneven skin. Regular exfoliation is therefore essential as it helps slough off dead skin cells to reveal new hidden ones underneath! Just make sure you opt for chemical exfoliants. AHAs (like glycolic acid) or BHAs (like salicylic acid) will gently exfoliate without irritating sensitive skin. Solution: Pevonia Renewing Glycocides Cream. Combining glycolic acid with hydration hero hyaluronic acid, this exfoliating treatment cream works to dissolve dead skin cells, improving skin texture and diminishing fine lines too! Skin resurfaces soother, brighter and younger…seriously. Strengthen the skin barrier Another symptom of menopause is thinner more fragile skin so it's crucial to keep the barrier strong. Use products with ceramides and niacinamide as these ingredients help repair and strengthen the skin barrier, reducing irritation and sensitivity. Solution: We can’t get enough of Vie Collection's Serum De Vie - High Performance Youth Concentrate! For those serious about combating the signs of ageing, this powerful, beautifully nourishing serum is a game-changer. Its advanced formula works at a cellular level to protect skin cells while targeting fine lines, wrinkles, loss of elasticity and hyperpigmentation, helping to restore a youthful, firm and smooth complexion. With its powerful blend of antioxidants and peptides, it helps to stimulate collagen production and improve skin elasticity while niacinamide slows the transfer of melanin to key parts of the skin to fade the look of dark spots and age spots. It’s the ultimate weapon in your anti-ageing arsenal, believe me! Fight hyperpigmentation Hormonal changes can increase pigmentation issues, leading to age spots. To help this you need to use brightening serums with Vitamin C or niacinamide: These ingredients help fade dark spots and brighten the skin. Solution: Phytomer Oligoforce Lumination Targeted Dark Spot Mask with Vitamin B3 (rich in Niacinamide) This sheet mask soaked with a lotion enriched with Vitamin B3 visibly smoothes, plumps and evens skin tone after each application. Day after day, wrinkles are reduced, dark spots faded and skin tone evened out.  When it comes to Vitamin C (paired with niacinamide) , our absolute favourite is Derma Max Vitamin-C Complex 50% Ampoule. This perfectly nourishing Vitamin C based brightening complex helps reduce discolouration and lighten skin tone. Paired with niacinamide, it prevents the formation of hyperpigmentation and reduces melanin production. The result, brighter, more even skin!   Soothe with anti-inflammatory ingredients Menopausal skin can become more sensitive and prone to redness or irritation so try incorporating calming ingredients. Look for products with aloe vera, chamomile, or green tea to reduce inflammation and soothe irritation. Solution: Hubislab Post Rays Chamomile Complex 70% Ampoule. We have tried and tested this powerhouse product ourselves and are here to tell you just how good it really is! Firstly it’s deeply nourishing and soothing at the same time. It feels like silk when applied to the skin and it instantaneously calms irritation. It’s antibacterial and anti-inflammatory and we love that it purifies, protects and strengthens too, thanks to its outstanding cocktail of 70% Chamomile combined with other natural soothing ingredients.   Use night treatments Nighttime is when your skin repairs itself, making it a crucial time to use targeted treatments. Solution: Phytomer Night Recharge Youth Enhancing Cream. Sometimes the moisturiser we use in the day isn’t quite enough at night. This is when a night cream is a great option! At night, our skin goes into repair and regeneration mode so a richer night cream can make all the difference. In fact, a good night cream will not only sooth and calm skin while you sleep, but also deliver lasting moisture while addressing common skin concerns such as moisture loss and skin ageing! They also help in the skin repair and renewal process by improving cell turnover! The Phytomer Night Recharge is a beautiful rich textured cream which literally cocoons skin while restoring youthful vitality with a nourishing blend of active marine botanicals, alpha hydroxy acids and conditioning oils.   Be armed with treatment creams for blemish and acne flare ups Following a specific skincare routine can really help to keep acne at bay.  By using a gentle cleanser, non-comedogenic moisturiser, and targeted treatments, you can make all the difference to your skin. Some spot treatments can work wonders at reducing, and in some cases eliminating, unwanted blemishes overnight. This is because they encourage rapid healing by controlling bacteria, reducing inflammation and diminishing the follicular accumulation of keratin. For the most effective results look for spot treatments formulated with ingredients such as benzoyl peroxide or salicylic acid. We highly recommend Phytomer's Oligopur Blemish Target Gel as the best spot treatment! It targets blemishes with precision, rapidly improving the skin’s appearance and eliminating spots almost overnight! Simply apply a small amount of product to your pimples and let the powerful ingredients keep your skin follicles clean to achieve an even and bright complexion by morning. Also, don't forget sunscreen – it's like armour for your skin, yes even for those of us with acne! And I know it sounds counterintuitive, slathering sunscreen all over acne flareups but believe me when I say avoiding sunscreen can worsen the appearance of acne, and if the skin gets sunburnt, the symptoms of acne can be painfully exasperated. Just be sure to choose your sunscreen wisely. Using the right sunscreen can prevent and heal acne, soothe the skin, keep dark spots and clogged pores at bay, all while protecting from harmful UV rays. We love Hubislab Herb 8 Soothing Blemish Balm SPF30 PA++   By combining these tips and using the right products to address the unique needs of your skin you can maintain healthy, glowing skin during perimenopause and menopause.
The most searched skin concerns: Expert approved solutions

The most searched skin concerns: Expert approved solutions

by Jo Boyden on Oct 04 2024
When it comes to our skin, we all have our individual concerns, but how many of us have actually taken to google to seek solutions? And what skin conditions are people searching the most? Well we did a little investigating, and the results might actually surprise you, especially if you’ve been feeling alone with your skin woes. From rosacea and acne to hyperpigmentation and wrinkles, keep reading as we count down the most searched skin conditions on google this year and our expert solutions to tackle them! Rosacea As a supplier or some of the worlds leading professional products, it comes as no surprise to our team at BC that this skin condition is the most searched. Rosacea is said to affect up to a fifth of the population so if you are a sufferer you most certainly are not alone! To learn more about Rosacea, it’s causes and the best solutions, click here. Or if it’s makeup recommendations you’re after, you can find our expert suggestions here. Acne As the second most commonly searched skin condition, acne continues to be a leading concern, especially among younger demographics. I’m sure many of us have experienced unruly blemishes in our time, whether we suffered from pimples as an adolescent or if they have come to haunt you in adulthood, but many amongst us are prone to acne. What exactly is acne you might ask? And could you have it? Click here to find out all there is you know. And if you’re searching for the best makeup products to conceal and heal your acne you can find our top recommendations here. Blackheads Not far behind acne is blackheads. And yes, I’m certain when I say we have all dealt with a black head or two, or many more in our time! Blackheads are in fact a type of acne (acne vulgaris). They're open bumps on the skin that fill with excess oil and dead skin. They look as if dirt is in the bump, but an irregular light reflection off the clogged follicle actually causes the dark spots. To learn more about blackheads and shop our highly recommended solutions click here. Hyperpigmentation Hyperpigmentation, including melasma and age spots (also known as dark spots, sun spots and liver spots), is another frequent search, particularly as people seek solutions to even out their skin tone and reduce dark spots. The condition most commonly occurs due to overproduction of melanin, the natural pigment in the skin, which is why it’s often exacerbated during the sunny summer months (thank you sunshine!) However, it can also occur due to inflammation caused from conditions like acne, just what you don’t need, and while hyperpigmentation can be hard to avoid for some, you can definitely help reduce its severity by following a few key steps. To learn everything you need to know about hyperpigmentation including the causes and the best treatments click here. Age spots Next on the list is age spots. As mentioned above age spots are a common form of hyperpigmentation. They are flat, dark patches that commonly appear on areas of the skin that are frequently exposed to the sun (like the face, hands, shoulders and arms) this is due to prolonged sun exposure as well as ageing. Age spots are harmless they can make people feel self conscious. The great news is there are means to dramatically reduce their appearance with skincare solutions as previously mentioned.  The best skincare solutions include using broad-spectrum sunscreen daily to prevent further darkening, and incorporating brightening treatments with ingredients like Vitamin C, niacinamide, and hydroquinone. Regular exfoliation with AHAs (alpha hydroxy acids) or retinol can also help fade existing spots by promoting skin cell turnover and revealing fresher, clearer skin underneath. If you want to know the best products to treat your age spots click here. Whiteheads At the top of many people’s woes are whiteheads. Like with blackheads, I’m sure the majority, if not all of us have not experienced these little bumps many a time. Another common type of acne, whiteheads occur when pores become clogged with oil, dead skin cells, and bacteria. Unlike blackheads though, which as previously mentioned are open to the surface and turn dark due to oxidation, whiteheads remain closed, creating small, white or flesh-coloured bumps. They typically appear on the face, particularly in areas like the forehead, nose, and chin, but can also occur on the chest, shoulders, and back. While they may seem harmless, we know whiteheads can be frustrating to deal with, especially if they keep coming back. Luckily, with the right skincare routine, you can keep whiteheads at bay and maintain a clearer, healthier complexion. Just be sure you cleanse twice a day, morning and night and look for ingredients like salicylic acid, which helps to unclog pores and prevent new whiteheads from forming. Exfoliation is also paramount as it helps remove dead skin cells that can clog pores and lead to whiteheads. Opt for chemical exfoliants like AHAs (alpha hydroxy acids) or BHAs (beta hydroxy acids), such as glycolic acid or salicylic acid. These acids help dissolve the buildup inside pores, keeping them clear and preventing future breakouts. We LOVE the ProCorrective Clear Control Exfoliator.  Formulated with Salicylic Acid, Caviar Lime, Tea Tree and Rosemary, it provides gentle but effective exfoliating action to open and clear pores, combatting acne-causing bacteria. Dry skin I’m sure we’ve all experienced dry skin at some point in our lives but many struggle with this skin condition all year round. If your skin has been feeling somewhat tight of late, itchy and irritated even, or if you’re prone to dry patches and flakiness on your face, it’s likely you have dry skin too! But what exactly is causing your dry complexion you might ask? And why doesn’t your current skincare routine appear to be working to help counteract this condition? As we can see from the search volume, at #7 on the most searched skin conditions, dry skin is very common and can affect anyone at any age. Typically, it happens when our sebaceous glands don’t produce enough oil (sebum) and our skin in turn loses too much water. This is because our natural oils help trap in moisture to keep the skin soft, smooth and supple, if there isn’t enough oil, moisture can escape, leaving the top layer of skin prone to dryness. Unfortunately, the lack of oil production is caused by a number of external factors including genetics (thanks parents!), dry air or indoor heating, over exfoliating, long hot shower (who doesn’t love one of those!). harsh products, ageing and hard water (tap water that contains a high concentration of minerals including calcium and magnesium, this hard water can change the pH balance of your skin as well as leave a film over your skin’s surface that may clog pores, cause dryness and even trigger breakouts, itching and flaking! Ouch. When it comes to improving your dry skin we cant go past these top skincare recommendations from the experts.   Wrinkles Starting to see signs of ageing on your face? Worried about wrinkles? According to the google search you are most definitely not alone! In fact, wrinkles are a major concern for both men and women, so much so that wrinkle injections are a fast-growing market, accounting for almost 40% of cosmetic surgery procedures performed in the world, and 70% of aesthetic medicine interventions. But what if Botox and the likes aren’t for you? Are there safer, natural and needle-free alternatives that really work to diminish the appearance of wrinkles? In short yes! While there is no serum or wrinkle cream that can magically make wrinkles disappear in a week quite like Botox, thanks to the advancement in both technology and skincare ingredients, the natural alternatives can seriously achieve similar smoothing and plumping results. What’s more these non-invasive topical alternatives give you more control over the change in your appearance (no poker-face in sight!), provide a much more natural look, plus when used daily as part of your skincare routine will achieve outstanding on-going results. Want to know what the best products to fight skin ageing and reduce your wrinkles are? Click here.   Oily skin If you’re fed up with your face feeling greasy every single day, you’re constantly looking for ways to prevent your makeup sliding off your skin by mid-morning, or you’re simply over staring in the mirror and seeing a super shiny complexion staring back (and not because you’ve been adopting the ‘hyper glowing skin’ trend of late), it’s time to get serious about your oily skin condition. Despite oily skin being a nuisance, believe it or not, it’s actually not all doom and gloom! Oily skin happens when the sebaceous glands in your skin make too much sebum. Sebum is the waxy, oily substance that protects and hydrates the skin (it’s actually a blessing as it’s vital for keeping the skin super healthy and youthful looking) however, too much sebum can lead to oily skin! This in turn results in your greasy, shiny complexion and can also result in clogged pores, and unwanted acne if not treated! Fear not though, with the right routine for oily skin you can keep this skin condition of yours at bay!

The secret to a flawless finish: Must-have beauty products

The secret to a flawless finish: Must-have beauty products

by Jo Boyden on Aug 16 2024
I’m sure I’m right in saying we’d all love to achieve that coveted flawless finish - a smooth, even complexion that looks naturally radiant and free of imperfections! While achieving perfection might seem like the impossible for some, I’m here to tell you that with the right products and techniques, you can definitely get pretty darn close! Keep reading as we reveal the beauty products you need to help you achieve a truly flawless finish. Start with a good skincare routine Before you even think about makeup, lets talk skincare! To achieve a flawless finish you need to get your skincare routine down pat as no makeup, no matter how good it is, will apply smoothy without going onto healthy, hydrated skin! Cleanser First things first, you need to make sure your skin is perfectly cleansed. A cleanser preps skin by removing dirt, oil, and impurities that can clog pores and lead to breakouts or uneven texture. Clean skin allows your makeup to adhere better and last longer, creating a smoother canvas for application. A good cleanser also balances the skin’s pH, preventing dryness or excessive oiliness that can affect your makeup applying smoothly. By starting with a clean, refreshed face, you will set the foundation for a radiant, flawless complexion. Exfoliator Your exfoliator will not only help remove dead skin cells (which if left on the surface of your skin can lead to clogged pores, dullness and rough skin texture!) but by exfoliating your skin you will enable your skincare products like your moisturiser and serum to penetrate more deeply and effectively, in turn boosting their efficacy and therefore deeply nourishing your skin, and as I said before makeup will never look and feel flawless without going onto a healthy, hydrated complexion. You don’t need to exfoliate every day though as this can lead to over-exfoliation, once or twice weekly is ideal. Moisturiser This is non-negotiable. Just be sure to choose a moisturiser suited to your skin type. For combination to oily skin you’ll want to opt for a lightweight, oil free formula. For ageing, dry and dehydrated skin a richer cream formulated with hyaluronic acid should be your go to. N.B. Applying a serum under your moisturiser for an added extra boost of nourishment can be a real game-changer when it comes to achieving that truly flawless finish. Primer When it comes to your makeup, the foundation of a flawless look starts with a good primer. A primer fills in pores, smooths fine lines and skin texture, brightens and primes skin, and preps it for makeup oh and it helps your makeup last longer too! N.B Look for one that matches your skin type—a hydrating primer for dry skin or mattifying primer for oily skin. Now it’s time for your makeup. Foundation Now, let's talk foundation. Your foundation will help even out skin tone, cover blemishes, minimise the appearance of pores and increase skins luminosity! The key though is to find a shade that matches your skin tone perfectly and a formula that suits your skin type. Matte for oily skin, dewy for dry skin. To learn more about the perfect foundation for your skin type click here. Concealer If you suffer from dark circles, are prone to redness or are currently dealing with blemishes or imperfections a concealer should be your go to for touching up your skin! Opt for one that provides full coverage without caking, blending seamlessly into your skin for a natural finish. Blush & Bronzer A blush or bronzer will really enhance your features adding to that flawless finish. They add warmth and dimension to your face. Blush gives your cheeks a healthy glow, while bronzer contours your features for a sun-kissed look. Illuminator or highlighter An illuminator be it stick, powder or cream, will create a natural highlight, and gives skin a fresh, delicate glow, perfect for a brighter appearance! Apply to cheekbones, brow bones, and cupid's bow. Setting your makeup is essential To ensure your makeup stays put all day, setting products are essential! You can opt for a translucent powder which can help control shine while setting your foundation, or simply use a setting spray to lock your makeup in place, preventing smudging and fading. The finishing touches If it’s a complete look you’re going for, you’ll want to finish off with a few other makeup essentials. Eyebrows Well-groomed eyebrows frame your face so youll want to invest in a good eyebrow product, be it a precision pencil or a brow balm. Eyeshadow Eyeshadow enhances your eyes by adding depth, dimension, and colour. It can highlight your eye shape and complement your overall look too! Choose a neutral eyeshadow palette for an everyday look. Mascara Mascara accentuates your eyes by defining, lengthening, and volumizing your lashes, making them appear fuller and more defined.  Lipstick or Lip Gloss Completing your makeup with a lipstick or lip gloss will add colour and dimension as well as a polished finish to your face. These products help define your lips, making them stand out and balancing the overall makeup. Whether you opt for a bold lipstick or a subtle gloss, both will enhance your features and tie the entire look together. Plus, they can complement your outfit, mood, or the occasion! And remember don't underestimate the power of good tools. Invest in quality makeup brushes and sponges for a smooth, streak-free application. Proper tools can make all the difference in achieving a professional finish.
Skin in need of nourishment? These are the best products

Skin in need of nourishment? These are the best products

by Jo Boyden on Jul 26 2024
Feeling like your parched skin could do with a little extra love but not sure where to start? Whether your skin’s need for that boost of nourishment is due to stress, lack of sleep, or perhaps it’s the current cold weather that’s causing havoc with your complexion, we are here to help! Keep reading as we round up the best nourishing skincare products. 8 products that will turn your skin from dehydrated to gorgeously glowy in little to no time. Firstly though why are you currently dealing with a parched complexion? Your skin may be feeling particularly dry or dehydrated at the moment due to a combination of environmental, lifestyle, or health factors. Here are the most common causes: Environmental Factors Seasonal Changes: Cold weather and low humidity levels during winter can suck the life out of our already depleted complexion stripping moisture from our skin, leading to dryness. Indoor Heating: Having the heating pumping 24/7 (I know I’m guilty of this!) can reduce indoor humidity, further dehydrating our skin. Sun Exposure: Even in colder months, UV rays can damage our skin and deplete its moisture levels so make sure you are wearing your sunscreen daily! Lifestyle Factors Hydration: Let’s face it, many of us get a little lazy when it comes to rehydrating ourselves during the colder months but not drinking enough water can (and will!) lead to dehydrated skin. Diet: A diet lacking in essential fatty acids, vitamins, and antioxidants can impact our skin's ability to retain moisture so make sure you stock up on your leafy greens, berries and fatty fish. Hot Showers: Who doesn’t love a long hot shower in the morning (and evening!) when its cold outside but believe me when I say by doing so you will strip your skin of its natural oils, causing dryness. Lack of Sleep: Inadequate sleep can lead to a decrease in blood circulation, making the skin look pale and tired. During sleep, the skin repairs and regenerates, so lack of sleep can hinder this process. Stress: Chronic stress can lead to hormonal imbalances that affect the skin, potentially causing issues like acne, dryness, and dullness. Skincare Routine Harsh Cleansers: Using cleansers that contain alcohol or other harsh ingredients can strip your skin of its natural oils, so be vigilant about what you are putting on your skin! Lack of Moisturiser: Skipping moisturiser or using one that isn’t hydrating enough can leave your skin feeling dry. This is why we are here to help! Over-Exfoliation: Exfoliating too often can damage your skin's protective barrier, leading to moisture loss. Best to stick to exfoliating once or twice a week. Health Factors Age: Unfortunately as we age our skin not only reduces its production of collagen and elastin, but it also produces less oil too, making it more prone to dryness. Medical Conditions: Conditions like eczema, psoriasis, and hypothyroidism can cause dry skin. Medications: And if you happen to be taking certain medications right now (and that includes diuretics and acne treatments) they too can have drying effects on the skin. The best products to rejuvenate and nourish your dry and dehydrated skin Now for the products that can really help! The benefits of face oils and the best ones for your skin

The benefits of face oils and the best ones for your skin

by Jo Boyden on Jun 14 2024
If your skin is feeling particularly parched or you’re wondering how to achieve that coveted healthy glow, face oils could be your answer. These potent elixirs are packed with nourishing ingredients that can seriously transform your skin, offering benefits that extend far beyond simple hydration. From enhancing your skin's barrier to providing a boost of antioxidants, face oils are a necessary addition to any skincare routine. Keep reading as we reveal everything there is to know about face oils, from their multitude of benefits that moisturisers and serums alone may not provide, to the best ones for your skin type. Whether your skin is dry, oily, sensitive, or mature, there's a face oil out there for you! Firstly, exactly what are face oils? Face oils are typically formulated with botanical and essential oils as well as plant extracts and antioxidants. They are designed to soften, nourish and balance your complexion, locking in hydration and providing skin with the additional moisture it needs for a truly glowing complexion. Non-comedogenic, they won’t clog pores and cause breakouts either! Why use a face oil Adding a face oil to your skincare routine can be a transformative step towards achieving healthier, more radiant skin. Face oils are packed with nourishing ingredients that penetrate deeply into the skin, providing intense hydration and locking in moisture. They can help balance oil production, making them suitable for various skin types, including oily and acne-prone skin. Face oils also contain antioxidants that combat free radicals, reducing signs of aging like fine lines and wrinkles. Whether used alone or mixed with your moisturiser or foundation, face oils will leave your skin feeling soft, supple, and glowing. The Benefits of Face Oils Adding a face oil to your skincare routine can be beneficial for several reasons Deep Hydration Face oils are incredible for deep hydration. Unlike moisturisers that may evaporate quickly, or often sit on the surface of your skin, oils penetrate deeply into the skin, locking in moisture and keeping your skin soft and supple. Enhanced Skin Barrier Our skin barrier is essential for keeping out pollutants and retaining moisture. Face oils contain essential fatty acids that strengthen this barrier, making your skin more resilient and less prone to irritation. Rich in Antioxidants Many face oils are packed with antioxidants, which help combat free radicals and prevent premature aging. Oils like argan are rich in vitamins A and E, promoting skin elasticity and reducing fine lines. Skin plumping In your 40s wrinkles can start to look more obvious because the skin’s natural oils decrease, the moisture barrier breaks down, and the skin dries out. Because oils are lipophilic, or fat loving, they pass through the lipid layer of the skin faster, preventing water loss and plumping skin with moisture more effectively. Balancing Properties It might seem counterintuitive, but oils can help balance oily and acne-prone skin. Oils like tea tree and grapeseed have antimicrobial properties and can regulate sebum production, reducing breakouts and giving you a clearer complexion. Soothing and Calming For those with sensitive or irritated skin, oils such as chamomile and calendula can provide soothing relief. Their anti-inflammatory properties help reduce redness and calm irritated skin, promoting a more even and calm complexion. The best oil for your skin type The most nurturing oil for sensitive skin Naturys Sensitive Hydra Oil If you suffer from sensitive skin and are prone to redness and irritation, this oil really can help transform your complexion! However, you can also add it to your foundation or moisturiser especially during the winter to get an extra level of nourishment. Myths About Face Oils Oils Will Make My Skin Oily: The right oil can actually help balance oil production and reduce greasiness. Oils Cause Breakouts: Non-comedogenic oils are designed not to clog pores and can actually help prevent acne. Oils Are Only for Dry Skin: There’s a suitable oil for every skin type, each offering unique benefits. Beauty Collective - multi-masking

What is multi-masking and is it right for your skin?

by Jo Boyden on Oct 27 2023
Ever wondered why a certain skincare product works wonders for your friend but leaves your skin looking far from flawless? Well, the answer lies in our skin type. You might have dry skin, while your friend’s is naturally oily. But then sometimes you might find that different areas of your face suddenly have different needs. Perhaps your cheeks are dry, but you’re experiencing pimples on your forehead and chin. Then what? It is a good idea to use your rich, dry skin moisturiser on your oily T-zone?! This is where skincare trend “multi-masking” could be your go to! Multi-masking is all about customising your skincare routine to target specific areas of face. Intrigued? Keep reading to learn all there is to know about multi-masking and whether it’s right for your skin. What exactly is multi-masking? Think of multi-masking as the art of using different face masks on various parts of your skin simultaneously to help combat a variety of skin concerns. Its like creating a tailored treatment for your skin addressing those different concerns at the same time.So if your forehead is oily but your cheeks are dry and then you’re experiencing pesky pimples on your chin and nose, multi-masking could be the perfect remedy. Is multi-masking right for you? While multi-masking can be a game-changer for some, it might not be for everyone. Here are a few things to consider; Identify your skin concerns Take a closer look at your skin and pinpoint the specific areas that need attention. If you have multiple skin concerns, multi-masking will likely be a great option for you. Choose the right mask for the right areas of your face Face masks are designed to target specific areas of concern and therefore each face mask depending on that concern will be formulated with different key ingredients. You need to be sure you select masks that cater to your skin's individual needs. Whether it's hydration, exfoliation, oil or blemish control, there's a mask out there for you, just choose wisely! For areas of your face suffering from dry skin, you’ll best to use a hydrating mask. Oily T-zone, apply a purifying mask to that area. Certain areas of your skin looking dull and devitalised, applying a brightening mask will do wonders for your skin! For oily skin areas with enlarged pores we recommend Pevonia’s Age Correction Micro-Pores Bio-Active Mask. The exceptional mask has been uniquely formulated to control sebum production and help reveal a matte complexion with a more even-toned, visibly minimized pores and younger-looking skin.If certain areas of your skin are dealing with breakouts try Pevonia’s Pure Skin Charcoal Mask is the perfect antidote for congested, dull skin. It neutralises pollutants, draws out impurities and leaves skin glowing with pure freshness! For dry skin, we love a super hydrating mask like Pevonia’s Ageless Skin Collagen Mask, it combats dehydration in just 10 minutes. The rich texture is a soothing balm as your skin literally drinks in the moisture leaving it both dewy and hydrated. And if skin is a little dull Pevonia’s Brightening Green Apple Mask is the best! It’s a clay-based mask to deep cleanse the pores and beautifully brighten skin tone! Patch test new masks first Before slathering different masks all over your face, it's crucial to do a patch test first. This will help you determine if your skin reacts well to the ingredients in each mask. Don’t overdo it While multi-masking can be both effective and fun! Don’t go overboard and over apply! Applying too many products at once can overwhelm your skin and lead to irritation. Its best to stick to 3 masks maximum at once. What are the benefits of multi-masking? By targeting different areas of your face with specific treatments, you can address multiple concerns simultaneously. It's like giving your skin a tailored spa treatment, leaving you with a refreshed, rejuvenated, and glowing complexion all over. How do you apply the masks? Using a brush or your fingers, carefully and evenly apply each mask to the appropriate area of your face. Then sit back and relax for 10 minutes while the masks work their magic. Remove with lukewarm water. For more on why you should incorporate face masks into your skincare routine, as well as the many benefits, click here. What’s more, for the month of October, 2023, when you purchase a Pevonia Face Mask, you’ll receive a Mask Brush for FREE.
Ceramide

Ceramides: Everything you need to know

by Jo Boyden on Oct 05 2023
If you’ve been hearing a lot of buzz about ceramides but wondering what they actually are you’ve come to the right place.Unlike your hero ingredients hyaluronic acid, retinol, vitamin c, collagen and more, ceramides are the unsung heroes of the skincare world, quietly working behind the scenes to keep your skin healthy, hydrated and protected! Whether you have dry skin, sensitive skin or just want to maintain your skins natural glow, ceramides will be a valuable addition to your skincare arsenal. But before we talk about the best ceramide skincare, we need to understand what ceramides actually are and how they will help your skin. What are ceramides?Ceramides are natural lipids (fats) found naturally in high concentration in the cell membranes within our epidermis (the top 5 layers of our skin), however, ceramides are especially concentrated in the stratum corneum (the outermost layer of the epidermis.) Think of this layer as your skin’s protective barrier. How do ceramides help our skin? Barrier protection Ceramides help to protect and strengthen your skins barrier, shielding it from external aggressors such as harsh weather conditions, bacteria and pollutants. This helps reduce skin redness, irritation and sensitivity. Moisture retention Ceramides help your skin hold onto moisture. They act like little sponges, preventing water loss and keeping your skin hydrated and plump. Skin Conditions If you suffer from skin conditions like eczema or psoriasis, ceramides can be especially beneficial. They help repair the damaged skin barrier, reducing inflammation and irritation. Anti-Ageing As we age, ceramide levels in our skin dramatically decrease, leading to dryness and fine lines. Using ceramide-infused products can help counteract these effects, leaving your skin looking more youthful.Using skincare rich in ceramides, or products formulated with ingredients that stimulate ceramide production can help counteract these effects. These products can help improve skin health, boost hydration, protect against harmful UV rays, rejuvenate skin and boost barrier function. Just remember no ceramides? Nothing to keep all those hydrating ingredients from evaporating from the skin. You'll usually find ceramides in moisturisers, but you also can find them as a key ingredient in cleansers, serums, and other skin-care products too! Here are our top five ceramide rich skincare favourites. Skincare essentials for your next flight

by Jo Boyden on Sep 22 2023
Whether you’re a frequent flyer or are about to set off on your next getaway since school holidays are nearly here, you’ll likely know that travelling can take a toll on your skin. Long flights, changing climates and recycled cabin air (eek) can leave your complexion looking dull and drab and your skin dehydrated. However if you arm yourself with the right skincare essentials in preparation for your next flight, you can save your skin and step off the plane looking as radiant as ever! Keep reading as we count down 6 skincare essentials that’ll keep your skin glowing even at 30,000 feet! Water Sure it might not be a skincare product as such but remember when it comes to looking after your skin on your next fight, the first and most crucial rule is to stay hydrated! Airplane cabins are notorious for their dry air which can sap the moisture from your skin like nothing else! So before you even board the plane make sure you’re well hydrated by drinking plenty of water, and continue to do so throughout the flight! Cleanser As soon as you get settled into your seat it’s a good idea to start your skincare routine to ensure your skin is clean and ready to absorb moisture! After all keeping your skin clean and fresh is essential, even when you’re on the move. Invest in a travel-sized cleanser that fits snugly into your in-flight toiletry bag. Choose a gentle cleanser that suits your skin type, whether it’s a cream, gel, or foam formula. Cleansing your face will remove impurities, excess oil, and makeup that can clog up skin on a long-haul flight! Try Pevonia CleanRefresh Foaming Oil Cleanser. Suitable for all skin types (but especially recommended for that dry, parched skin travelling can leave us with) this cleanser is an oil cleanser, that feels like gel and when mixed with water transforms into a beautiful foaming lather that in turn delivers a truly luxurious cleansing experience! It’s lipid rich, alcohol-free and soap free. What more could you want! Nourishing and cleansing in one. Can’t be bothered to get out of your seat, then try Phytomer's best selling Rosee Visage Toning Cleansing Lotion. No water needed! Simply apply this alcohol-free and infinitely gentle cleansing lotion with a cotton pad to remove the days makeup and grime and enjoy beautiful fresh, cleansed skin. If your favourite cleanser doesn’t come in travel size, you could try decanting it, or why not opt for a travel friendly kit instead? We are loving Pevonia’s range of travel friendly skincare kits. Hydrating Serum Applying a hydrating serum to your skin after cleansing will make a huge difference. Serums are lightweight, nourishing and help lock in moisture so no more moistures being sapped from your skin thanks to the cabin air! We recommend Phytomer Hydra continue 22h moisture flash Gel. If you do a lot of flying, this should become your go-to to restore hydration in skin both before, during and after flights. This beautiful light textured gel is like giving your skin its own glass of water to keep hydrated and the results are also immediate. Multi-tasking moisturiser Moisturising is the secret to keeping your skin plump and radiant throughout the flight. You don’t want anything too rich, instead opt for a moisturiser in a lightweight formula that will both hydrate and brighten your skin. Look for ingredients like hyaluronic acid or ceramides and vitamin c to replenish moisture and keep your skin looking visibly radiant too. We are loving Phytomer's Hydra Continue Radiance Energizing Cream. It’s a beautifully nourishing but lightweight cream with a velvety finish. The products name definitely reflects the results, as this subtly scented moisturiser is both energising and radiance inducing that’s for sure! Facial mist On a long-haul flight believe me when I say a facial mist will become your new best friend. They are the perfect product (and travel companion!) to give your complexion a quick boost, replenishing tired, dry or tight skin within seconds, any time of day! We can’t get enough of Pevonia’s Hyaluronic Acid HydraMist. As well as Hyaluronic Acid, it’s formulated with a blend of ultra-calming Chamomile, Aloe, Green Tea and aromatic essential oils, making this powerhouse product ideal for all skin types, especially dehydrated, irritated, and ageing skin! However should your skin be on the sensitive side, a little itchy or irritated even, it will work its magic to calm, nurture and alleviate too. Its soo good. Sheet Masks Perfect for travel, sheet masks are a great way to provide your skin with a big boost of hydration, nourishment and other skincare benefits, plus they are so quick and easy to use (unlike most cream masks). We love ELES Sheet Masks. You can choose from a calming and soothing sheet mask, a hydrating and brightening sheet mask or if you are worried about ageing try the youth recovery sheet mask. You’ll love the way your skin laps up the moisture from the mask and leaves if feeling cool, calm, deeply nourished and visibly refreshed. Not familiar with sheet masks? 6 winter beauty essentials we’re currently coveting

by Jo Boyden on Aug 10 2023
As someone who loves the warm, sultry months of summer, I always find it hard adjusting to the dry, cold air of winter, and this is coming from the person who spent 25 years living in the UK! I guess I just don’t like the way my skin goes from dewy and glowy to dehydrated and drab in just a matter of months.Cold days, zero humidity and artificial heating we all become accustomed to in winter, can put undue stress on our skin, leading to a dry, lifeless or super sensitive complexion! So when our skin starts to change, as a result of the change in season, it’s time to up the ante and incorporate new beauty products in your daily routine – winter companions your skin now needs. We’ve listed our go-tos, 6 beauty essentials we are currently coveting this winter, the products we know will take your skin from dry, dull and irritated to nourished, glowy and perfectly protected in next to no time. Pevonia Age Correction Marine Collagen CreamIf Hyaluronic Acid doesn’t already feature in your daily skincare routine, it should now! When it comes to dehydration, (which by the way is the no. 1 skincare issue during winter) the first product you should double down on is hyaluronic acid skincare! This is because hyaluronic acid is ‘The Don’ when it comes to hydration.Pevonia’s Age Correction Marine Collagen Cream isn’t just formulated with collagen, it’s packed with Squalane, Glycerin and Hyaluronic Acid too! It’s the perfect combination of rich but light and literally infuses skin with moisture replenishing vital nutrients. I love, love, love this product (in fact all year round!) and when combined with Pevonia’s Age Correction Intensifier Collagen & Myoxy Caviar, this powerful duo deliver radiant, moisture-rich skin.Pevonia Vitaminic ConcentrateI’m a huge advocate for face oils in winter. Not only do they calm and nourish skin, more importantly they strengthen the skin’s barrier which in winter can be seriously compromised. Due to their oily nature, face oils are wonderful for layering over the skin for intense hydration and protection.Remember face oils are for everyone, so don’t be scared to use them. For many years now I have turned to my faithful friend Pevonia’s Vitaminic Concentrate during the winter months and I can honestly say it’s a game-changer for my skin. It’s a luxurious dry oil (so absorbs very fast!) with a mandarin aroma which is to die for, and it radically combats excessive dryness, dehydration, and premature aging all in one!ELES Cosmetics Age Defying BB Cream 30If your skin is dull and lacking life you want to choose a foundation with hydrating and skin brightening benefits. After all your foundation should enhance your complexion, not mask it. This winter look to switching up your foundation for one formulated with hyaluronic and Vitamin A, these key ingredients will help skin appear more hydrated, plumped and healthy! We love ELES’s Age Defying BB Cream 30 for so many reasons! It’s a multi-tasking miracle! It literally primes, tints, nourishes, protects, blurs and evens out your skin tone for a truly, natural, flawless finish. And thanks to its skin-loving ingredients over time it helps to promote cell health, strengthen elasticity, reduce the appearance of fine lines and restore that natural glow you once donned! What’s more, you’ll feel as though you aren’t even wearing makeup oh and it provides skin with the necessary SPF 30 sun protection which is just as imperative in the cooler winter months as it is in summer!ELES Cosmetics Baked BlushWe are all on a quest for that healthy youthful glow, especially in the winter months when it’s almost non-existent, so blush is a must! Just a few swipes of blush will not only add colour and depth to your cheeks but can make your entire complexion look healthier, and your skin more youthful. It adds an extra glow that bronzer and highlighter just can’t mimic. We highly recommend the ELES Baked Blush in a shade of your preference – my current favourite is Posey. It adds instant radiance to your cheeks thanks to its highly pigmented formula. Plus, it’s silky smooth and super nourishing, great for dull, dehydrated skin types!Just be sure to apply it correctly – use a Blush Brush and lift colour upwards towards your temple from the apple of your cheek. You won’t regret introducing this little staple!Pevonia Dry Oil Body MoisturiserOften, we become lazy when it our bodies in winter! Neglecting the areas of our skin we have become accustomed to looking after in warm summer months! However, during winter, the skin on our bodies becomes just as dry and lacklustre as the skin on our face! And I’m sure none of us like that uncomfortable, itchy feeling every evening when we’ve indulged in a hot shower or bath but not bothered to moisturise after! We get it though, not everyone is a fan of rich body moisturisers that can leave your skin feeling a little on the sticky side! Cue Pevonia’s international best-selling body product (and one of our all-time favourites) the Dry Oil Body Moisturiser! Even though it’s a ‘dry oil’ it literally indulges and nourishes skin without leaving an oily or greasy feeling, at all! This is because it absorbs immediately into skin leaving it feeling silky soft and supple after every application instead! If you apply it straight after the shower while your skin is still a little damp, you’ll lock in moisture and reap in the benefits too. Plus it’ll restore any moisture lost from standing under that super-hot water I mentioned earlier that many of us I’m sure love to indulge in, in the cold winter months! Guilty as charged!Phytomer Oleocreme Ultra-Nourishing Hand CreamOur hands often bear the brunt of the winter chill, this is why a good hand cream is an absolute essential for me in winter, and hey why shouldn’t we look after our hands as we do our face? The thing is before I discovered Phytomer’s Oleocreme Ultra-Nourishing Hand Cream I hated the feel of wearing hand cream and I’d want to wash my hands immediately after I’d applied it, so instead I used to bear the brunt of dry cracked skin! Not anymore! My favourite hand cream (and I’ve tried many) absorbs into skin immediately and intensely nourishes, soothes and softens my dry, damaged hands. I take it everywhere I go!

From Dry to Dewy: The best skincare routine for Dry Skin

by Jo Boyden on Jul 20 2023
Whether you love or loathe cold, winter weather, there is no mistaking the havoc it can cause on our skin. Ever dealt with (or perhaps currently experiencing) dry, flaky patches? Tightness even? Or perhaps it’s a dull lacklustre complexion you have become accustomed too of late! Well, we are here to tell you how you can transform that dry skin of yours to deliciously dewy in next to no time. All you need to do is follow the right skincare routine for dry skin! And stick to it daily. Morning skincare routine for dry skinWhen it comes to the best skincare routine for dry skin, the products you use in the morning will differ from those you apply at night. First and foremost you want to make sure you build a skincare routine rich in moisture, you need to rehydrate that parched skin of yours, but you want to ensure you then keep it nourished and hydrated too!Step 1 - Hydrating CleanserThe first step in any skincare routine is cleansing, but for us dry-skin folks, it's essential to use a gentle, hydrating cleanser. Look for cleansers with a creamy or oil-based formula that won't strip your skin of its natural oils. Harsh, foaming cleansers can be our arch-nemesis, so avoid those like the plague!Try Pevonia Hydrating Cleanser. Thanks to its outstanding combination of marine collagen, marine elastin, hyaluronic acid and glycerin, this nourishing, creamy textured cleanser thoroughly removes skin impurities and excess oil without any residue, all whilst helping to preserve your skin’s moisture too!N.B Exfoliation is essential too as you’ll want to rid your skin of any lingering dry, dead, skin cells to make way for the healthy, new cells patiently waiting underneath! How often you exfoliate will depend on the sensitivity of your skin though, so best to start with once a week and use a gentle exfoliating cleanser. This will keep skin brighter and balanced (without stripping away moisture) and will also assist in products such as your serum being able to fully penetrate your skin for optimal end results.Step 2 - Hyaluronic Acid SerumYou might we wondering if you really need a serum in your skincare routine because doesn’t your moisturiser offer enough nourishment? Well I’m here to tell you how necessary a serum really is! Serums are like a shot for the skin. Firstly they tend to perform above and beyond many regular skincare products, this is because they are developed with a higher concentration of targeted active ingredients. Secondly, the purpose of a serum is to target a specific concern. In our case dryness!Incorporate a hyaluronic acid serum into your morning skincare routine, and your skin will thank you for it! Believe me. Hyaluronic acid is a dry-skin superhero! This moisture-binding ingredient can hold up to 1000 times its weight in water, leaving your skin feeling hydrated and plump.Try Pevonia Hyaluronic Acid Hydra Serum. The ultimate for seriously thirsty skin, this serum eliminates dryness almost instantly as it quite literally blasts even the most dehydrated of complexions with a surge of moisture, maintaining surface hydration throughout the day. By adding moisture back into your skin, this serum immediately boosts skin’s suppleness and combats ageing in multiple ways thanks to its skin-plumping properties.Step 3 - Eye CreamIf you have dry skin, it's essential not to forget to incorporate an eye cream into your daily routine. The skin around the eye is some of the most delicate on the body, so it needs that little extra TLC that your moisturiser can not provide. In fact, the skin under our eyes is up to 1/10 thinner than other facial skin so it’s crucial to care delicately for this area to avoid any damage. While you might think your moisturiser will suffice, you’d be wrong! Like a moisturiser, an eye cream’s main objective is to deliver brightening and anti-ageing ingredients to the skin, however in a milder, gentler, safer dose. Moisturisers tend to have a much richer consistency in comparison to their counterpart which if applied under the eyes can prove too much, resulting in irritation, allergic reactions and milia. A hydrating eye cream can help prevent dryness, nourish already present crepiness, and combat signs of ageing such as fine lines, wrinkles, undereye puffiness and dark circles! Look for ingredients such as hyaluronic acid, vitamin c, vitamin c, shea butter, collagen and vitamin B as they will help restore the delicate skin and retain moisture.Try Pevonia Evolutive Eye Cream. This anti-ageing eye cream deeply nourishes and renews the delicate under eye area in multiple ways. Formulated with a powerful blend of anti-agers including hyaluronic acid, vitamin A and glycolic acid, it firms, smooths and hydrates dry, crepey skin.Step 4 - Nourishing MoisturiserA moisturiser not only infuses your skin with hydration but also helps trap in all of the products underneath it to make the ingredients even more effective. When it comes to dry skin, a super nourishing moisturiser rich in specific ingredients such as shea butter, ceramides, glycerin, natural oil (think avocado, jojoba, or rosehip) and hyaluronic acid is a must! It’ll help replenish your skin with the nourishment it craves.Try Phytomer Nutritionnelle Dry Skin Rescue Cream – this is a salvation for even the driest skin, bringing comfort, hydration and protection. Step 5 - SunscreenSunscreen is a non-negotiable step in any skincare routine, regardless of skin type. Sun damage is the no. 1 cause of premature ageing so what’s the point of spending money on all those anti-ageing skincare products if you undo all the good by not being religious with your sunscreen application! Protecting your skin from sun damage will make all your other skin care products more effective!Choose a lightweight sunscreen that won't clog pores or cause breakouts. Go for a chemical or mineral sunscreen of at least SPF 30 (preferably 50). Sun damage can worsen dryness, so don't forget this crucial step, even on cloudy days.Try ELES Luminous Defence Brightening Day Protection 50+ It’s super lightweight and full of great ingredients that prevent hyper-pigmentation and dehydration. It also gives you a bit of glow which is a bonus that many sunscreens don’t provide.Step 6 - Facial MistFor that extra boost of cooling hydration and to lock in all those skincare ingredients throughout the day a facial mist is a must!Try Pevonia Hyaluronic Acid Hydra Mist This product is a dream. It provides the perfect spritz to replenish tired, dry or tight skin. Night skincare routine for dry skin Step 1 - CleanserFirst thing you’ll likely want to do (and should do) after a long day is remove the days makeup and grime from your face with a good cleanser or face wash. Should you wish to double cleanse, you can do that too!Try using an oil cleanser first followed by a cream cleanser to refresh your skin and leave a dewy finish.Step 2 - Hydrating TonerFollow your face wash with a hydrating toner. Unfortunately, toners are often the forgotten skincare product, usually because people don’t understand their purpose, but they are in fact an essential product in any skincare routine! Why? Because a good toner will not only remove any excess makeup and grime that your cleanser might have missed but it will also prep your skin for the goodness that follows (we are talking ingredients in the rest of your skin care routine!) The best toner for dry skin will pump up hydration but also restore skin, balance pH too.Opt for an alcohol-free, hydrating toner that contains ingredients such as hyaluronic acid and glycerin to lock in moisture as well as plump up your skin. Pat it on gently with your hands or use a soft cotton pad.Try Pevonia Hydrating Toner – Formulated with Hyaluronic Acid, Licorice, and Vitamin E, it works to hydrate, revive and fully refresh the skin. Great for anyone with worried about ageing, dehydration or devitalised skin. Step 3 – face mask With so many steps in your daily skincare routine, you might be wondering if masking is really another necessary step, after all, what more can this product do for your skin that your cleanser, toner, exfoliator, serum and moisturiser hasn’t already done? Well, the answer to that is a lot actually! Face masks are in fact an essential part of any skin care routine, and for very good reason. Not only do they help protect your skin from environmental pollutants and other irritants, but they also help to keep skin looking and feeling healthy. They are also a great way to give your skin a boost of nourishment and help to target any skin concerns you may have too., dry skin in this case!Treat yourself to a hydrating face mask once or twice a week. Sheet masks, gel masks and cream masks formulated with ingredients such as hyaluronic acid, aloe vera and jojoba oil can work wonders for dry skin. Sit back, relax, and let the mask work its magic!Try Vie Collection Mesoforce Hyaluronic Acid Vitamin Mask. This revitalizing and nourishing mask takes its inspiration from mesotherapy to visibly revitalize the skin. Its formula contains a cocktail of vitamins and hyaluronic acid that ensure beautifully nourished, plumped and radiant skin after every application.Step 4 – Brightening SerumAt night you can either opt for your hyaluronic acid serum again, or change it up with a good vitamin C serum. After all you want to brighten that dull complexion of yours as well and rehydrate it.Try Pevonia Vitamin C Complexe. This product is a-mazing for that perfect pick-me-up. Vitamin C and hydration hero hyaluronic acid, work together to quite literally drench skin with repairing antioxidants, deeply nourishing skin while correcting photo-damage. Not only does it have the most beautiful citrus aroma, when applied skin looks instantly brighter and dewier too!Step 5 - Night CreamWhile you might well love your everyday moisturiser, it’s likely it’s not providing enough nourishment for your skin at night. This is because at night, our skin goes into repair and regeneration mode so a richer night cream formulated with specific ingredients, can make all the difference. In fact, a good night cream will not only sooth and calm skin while you sleep, but also deliver lasting moisture while addressing common skin concerns such as moisture loss and skin ageing! They also help in the skin repair and renewal process by improving cell turnover!Try Phytomer Night Recharge Youth Enhancing Cream. This beautifully rich textured cream literally cocoons skin while restoring youthful vitality with a nourishing blend of active marine botanicals, alpha hydroxy acids and conditioning oils.Step 6 - Face OilFor an extra boost of hydration, face oils are a game-changer.
