Who doesn’t love makeup? It’s fun, fabulous and can bring out that inner artist you didn’t know you had! It can boost your mood, mindset and confidence and has the ability to totally transform your complexion! (some makeup can even improve your skin thanks to its skin nurturing ingredients too.)Having worked at BC, (and in the cosmetics industry for that matter), for many a year, I have to admit I’m very blessed to have been able to try copious amounts of makeup in my time! But, out of the many, I have a few go-to products I simply can’t live without, the ones I go back to time and time again. You know that miracle mascara which turns your non-existent lashes into full, flirtatious lashes? My favourite foundation which really does leave my skin looking fresh and flawless every day and my super convenient compact which lives in my handbag for those urgent touch-ups. We all have our makeup must-haves and our BC customers are no different. Below we’ve put together Beauty Collective’s top 5 performing makeup products, our best-sellers, and there is a very good reason why our customers keep buying these ELES essentials, so read on and see what they are. A few of my absolute favourites are on the list too! ELES Mineral Liquid Powder Mineral FoundationIf you haven’t tried this foundation, you should now! It really will become your go-to solution for achieving that perfect complexion we all seek. Not only is it formulated with skin-loving ingredients including vitamins a, c and e, as well as anti-inflammatory zinc, it allows skin to ‘breath freely, so none of that clogging up pores exacerbating or creating unwanted skin issues which many foundations do! And when applied transforms into a beautiful soft powder finish that is oh so natural!“An amazing product that I have used for years. Gives a natural flawless finish. I am the ‘Queen of Cosmetics’ and without a doubt this is the best product I’ve ever used!” Catherine ELES Age Defying BB Cream 30BB Creams or otherwise known as beauty balms, are infused with antioxidants, brightening agents, acids, broad-spectrum SPF to treat the skin while giving it a fresh, even glow, and let me tell you this BB Cream is no exception! I love it!” Jennifer Baked Finishing Powder in Diffused LightIf you are after a little radiance in your life, try this for size! The soft baked powder provides skin with that hint of a natural sun-kissed glow without having to use a heavy bronzer and thanks to its jet-milled pigments it creates a beautifully luminous airbrushed effect every time!“When you need to look like you always have a great night sleep and eat all the right things….this will make you look like you do. Fresh, bright and perky but no one will realise because it is so natural! I call this the working mum’s secret weapon.” Lisa Precision Brow PencilCreating the perfect brows can completely transform your face and make you look 10 years younger too,! but you need to know how.Just as the hair on our heads can thin with age, so do our eyebrows, so to look younger, we want to create instantly fake fullness and to do this we need to fill them in and shape them with the perfect brow pencil. 9 things you need to stop doing to your skin now

9 things you need to stop doing to your skin now!

by Jo Boyden on Aug 19 2020
You might well think you are following protocol and doing all the right things for your skin – applying SPF daily, using the best products for your specific needs, drinking your two litres of water a day, exercising but not too excessively, getting enough shut-eye… the list goes on, yet still, your skin isn’t where you want it to be, but why? Most of us spend each day taking the right steps, all the while damaging our skin without even realising it! Read on to find out nine things you might be doing which could well be impacting your skin’s overall health; Touching your face If COVID-19 has taught me one thing, it’s to be vigilant about touch! And I have to admit I did not realise just HOW often I touched my face!! Eek.Each time you touch your face, you're exposing your skin to bacteria, so repeatedly touching it with your fingertips, resting your face on your hands, or simply rubbing your head can introduce dirt directly to the skin and in some cases cause pesky pimples and worse! So try to be more wary of your actions, and thoroughly clean your face with a good cleanser at the end of every day! Hitting the pantry at night! Yes it happens to the best of us! You’ve been healthy all week, diligently consuming your super foods but this evening you caved and hit the panty for those sugared treats, surely it’s not that big a deal? Unfortuantely it can be! This is because consuming sugar affects our bodies' collagen stores. Collagen is the magical protein that our bodies produce which helps our skin to remain supple and well, simply look younger. Unfortunately the sugary foods we consume break down both the collagen and elastin in our skin, causing dullness and wrinkles over time, so if it’s possible, it’s best to cut down sugar intake where you can, especially at night, which happens to be the worst possible time! There goes my late night feasts. Going to sleep with makeup on I’m sure we’ve all been guilty of having one too many in our time, or simply hopping into bed exhausted only to realise you haven’t removed your makeup and have little to no energy to get back up to cleanse your face, so to bed with a full face of makeup we go! But I can’t stress enough how failing to remove makeup at the end of every day is a major missed opportunity for your skin to be able to regenerate while you sleep! Not removing your makeup means the skin ceases to breathe freely, pores clog and fatigue signs start to appear. Two of my favourite makeup removers, which both effectively and effortlessly melts away the day's makeup and grime, are Phytomer’s Doux Contour Eye and Lip Waterproof Makeup Remover and ELES Cosmetic’s Transformation Cleansing Oil.Combining the effectiveness of an oil (a trio of oils in fact) and the gentleness of a lotion, Phytomer’s ultra-hydrating makeup remover, eradicates even the most stubborn of lips and eye makeup fast! While the ELES Transformation Oil literally melts away makeup with jojoba oil, safflower oil, olive oil, squalene and vitamin E! What’s more for the month of August when you purchase the Transformation Cleansing Oil, you’ll receive a set of 3 muslin cleansing cloths (for swift and easy removal) for Free!To read more about sleeping in makeup – what it really does to our skin click here. Not getting enough shut-eye If you are like me and one for being guilty of going to bed too late, or simply not getting enough sleep (we are talking the recommended 8 hours a night) know that your skin WILL suffer. This is because it affects the moisture levels in your skin, depleting them, as well as lowering your complexions pH levels, and when your skin’s pH levels drop, they create an imbalance which means your skin isn’t able to produce the moisture it needs, resulting in dry, lacklustre skin. It can also create unnecessary redness, leave skin uneven and even trigger breakouts. To understand more about what really happens to your skin while you sleep click here. Having a hot shower Ok, so no one in winter is going to say no to a hot shower right? It’s one of life’s little luxuries but it does come at a cost to your skin believe it or not. Unfortunately, hot water can strip the skin of its essential moisture and deplete its natural protective barrier which can lead to impairments in the skin’s moisture. We know you aren’t going to stop having those steamy showers of a morning but try and turn the heat down a little, limit shower time and ensure you replenish skin immediately after with a good hydrating moisturiser! I’m currently loving Phytomer’s Hydra Original Thirst Relief Melting Cream, it’s deliciously rich and delivers intense and lasting hydration to my skin! Not frequently changing your bedding We are accustomed to washing our clothes after every wear but why is it at the end of every day, we fall into bed without giving our sheets a second thought? Unfortunately clogged pores can occur when we don't wash our bedding weekly. This in turn can lead to blemishes and breakouts. Why? Because there is a build up of bacteria and oil on our sheets, especially pillowcases caused by sweat, saliva and dead skin cells. Yuck. Over exfoliating You are doing as you think is right and exfoliating your skin once or twice a week but could you be over exfoliating? Using exfoliators with AHA’s and BHA’s when it’s not necessary can cause your skin to become dehydrated and dry. If you notice you are developing dry patches or flaky skin you could well be over-doing it. This is why it's important to use the correct exfoliator for your skin type and always follow exfoliation with hydrating and moisturising creams. Spending too much time in front of a screen I know I speak for so many of us when it comes to too much screen time these days. Whether it be our laptop, tv, iphone or ipad, screen time does effect our skin and here’s why; All devices (now labeled the silent anti-agers of our generation!) emit ‘blue light’. This light creates a free radical that damages our DNA, by penetrating all the way to the dermis where our collagen and elastin live causing loss of firmness, increase in visible lines as well as inflammation and dark spots! Scary stuff. Your best defence? Try to cut down your time and use targeted skincare and makeup products!Using products containing iron oxide can help neutralize and repair blue light damage. Try Pevonia's Youth Renew Tinted Moisturiser or ELES Mineral Sheer Tint SPF 20.The skin naturally contains antioxidants. These are quickly damaged and depleted when exposed to free radicals. By applying a topical antioxidant containing Vitamins C and E you can assist in counteracting the damaging effecting of blue light. Try Medicalia's C Serum with Oxyzomes which protects and infuses the antioxidant deep within the skin for maximum anti-free radical benefits and collagen-boosting effects.I also love Pevonia's Stem Cells Phyto-Elite Intensive Cream. It is rich in Vitamins C, E, Marine Collagen and Retinol! It deeply repairs any damage caused to the skin, effectively minimising the most common signs of premature ageing. And if you purchase this cream in the month of August, you'll receive the full size matching Stem Cells Foaming Cleanser for Free! Using dirty makeup brushes Your makeup tools are meant to be washed. Besides bacteria, both brushes and sponges also accumulate dead skin cells and oil which can clog your pores leading to skin irritation and pesky pimples! Also if you apply your makeup with a dirty bush the end result can be a streaky and patchy complexion! Clean brushes definitely make for a smoother makeup application so get cleaning them at least once a week! For “green” and allergy-free brushes, opt for taklon bristle brushes, this smooth synthetic fibre is ideal for makeup application as it does not absorb or trap pigment, making it so much easier to keep clean too!

7 ways makeup can actually improve your mental wellbeing

by Jo Boyden on Apr 29 2020
While it might have been tempting to forego makeup altogether since #isolife and hey it’s the perfect time to give your skin a break, right? There is no denying the impact makeup can actually have on your wellbeing. When it comes to wearing cosmetics, the benefits go way beyond looks and we are here to explain how;1 It can transform your mood and mindsetIf you’re one of the many currently working from home whilst home-schooling your kids, I’m feeling you. The daily juggle is real and the idea of any time to yourself is almost laughable, but practising self-care at home is imperative, as is maintaining routines where possible!A simple beauty regimen can be so beneficial for those who have a hard time implementing or prioritizing self-care. Setting aside some time and energy for daily makeup application – and we aren’t talking hours, it can be as little as 5-10 minutes – can have a profound effect on your mindset. Taking time out to pop on a little mascara, foundation, concealer and blush even, can help your skin look it’s very best but also greatly elevate your spirits. I personally find getting up in the morning and following the same routine I would if I was still going into the office, is a great motivator! By making myself look presentable I feel better, brighter and so much more productive!2 It can be therapeuticI don’t know about you but those 10 minutes to myself when I can forget about the daily grind or the outside world, and instead just focus on creating my mini makeover, is actually bliss, therapeutic almost. I unfortunately no longer have time for swimming and at-home yoga sessions are few and far between, so my morning makeup routine has become my little self-soothing ritual, especially when the kids have been driving me a wee bit crazy since 7am!3 It can bring out your inner artistYour makeup routine can provide a creative outlet. Whether you’re feeling the minimal makeup vibe or channelling your inner Lady Gaga, with makeup you can be as artistic as you like, no limitations. It can also be a great way to explore different makeup trends and find out which looks work best for you! Nothing like taking this time in isolation to perfect your look for that dinner date or girls night out once lives return to normality.4 It can be fun!Makeup isn’t all about looking presentable, it can be so much fun too! You can play with colours to create looks you never thought possible and for me the only people to judge at the moment are my little minions! Who happen to think any look I don is fab! Phew!Plus if like me your kids find makeup fascinating and are old enough, why not make it into something fun you can share with them too? With kids home 24/7 it’s the perfect time to engage them in makeup play. It provides them with an alternative option to drawing, painting, and doing craft and the looks they create themselves will, in turn, create fun memories forever, I have the photos to prove it!5 It can boost your confidenceIt is fact that wearing makeup can help you cultivate a more polished or even ‘perfected’ version of yourself…so to speak. Concealing any imperfections can increase confidence as well as make you feel more in control of yourself and your skin. And this boost of confidence, in turn, is known to increase productivity. Win Win I say!6 It can improve your skinSay what? Wearing makeup can actually improve your skin? I hear you say. I know this might sound a little ridiculous after all doesn’t the majority of makeup clog your skin? Prevent it from breathing properly? Not if you are using the right makeup products, no!Spending so much time at home in quarantine can have a negative effect on your skin, deplete it of certain essential nutrients and minerals. And while skincare care vastly improve your skin’s appearance, so can your makeup if you opt for formulations with skin nurturing ingredients. By choosing mineral foundations and powers rich in vitamins A, C and E, as well as ginkgo biloba, ginseng, aloe and chamomile, will not only provide your skin with antioxidant protection but also soothe, protect and correct your complexion too! I personally LOVE the ELES Cosmetics best-selling Liquid Powder Mineral Foundation for these exact reasons! The coverage is perfect – silky smooth with a matte finish, creating a totally natural flawless complexion, while also protecting and correcting my skin! Also makeup – anything from your lipstick to your highlighter – can be one of the most efficient anti-ageing measures as they offer additional protection for your skin against the sun’s rays and pollution! It’s easy to forget about applying sunscreen to our lips or around our delicate eye area, I know I’m guilty of this! So pigmented eyeshadows and long-lasting lipsticks can actually help with this. The ELES Moisture Crème Lipstick has an instantly nourishing formula, offers both rich colour and long-lasting wear and it deeply conditions lips with vitamins E, A, C, shea butter, avocado and jojoba oils! I can’t get enough of the Nutmeg shade, I have very pale lips so this adds the perfect sheen of much needed colour!7 It can increase longevityPractising self-care such as makeup application comes with both short and long-term health benefits. Makeup routines we now know can raise your mood helping you both behave and think differently. And due to numerous studies it is proven that people with a more positive attitude quite simply live longer!
self isolating

Self-isolating? It’s time to change up your skincare routine. Here’s why

by Jo Boyden on Apr 07 2020
In this time of social distancing, many of us are being responsible and choosing to stay home, while this is imperative for our safety remaining indoors for extended periods of time can however impact our skin and in turn lead to skin damage! So use this time in quarantine to get your skincare routine down pat. What worked for your skin weeks ago might now need some tweaking and we are here to tell you why. Spending more time on your phone, laptop or in front of your TV than ever before? Yes siree! But did you know the effect extended amounts of screen time can have on your skin?Unfortunately, your devices (now labelled the silent anti-agers of our generation!) emit ‘blue light’. This light creates a free radical that damages our DNA, by penetrating all the way to the dermis where our collagen and elastin live causing loss of firmness, increase in visible lines as well as inflammation and dark spots! Scary stuff. Your best defence? Targeted skincare and makeup products!Using products containing iron oxide can help neutralize and repair blue light damage. Try Pevonia’s Youth Renew Tinted Moisturiser or ELES Mineral Sheer Tint SPF 20.The skin naturally contains antioxidants. These are quickly damaged and depleted when exposed to free radicals. By applying a topical antioxidant containing Vitamins C and E you can assist in counteracting the damaging effecting of blue light. Try Medicalia C Serum with Oxyzomes which protects and infuses the antioxidant deep within the skin for maximum anti-free radical benefits and collagen-boosting effects.I also love Pevonia’s Stem Cells Phyto-Elite Intensive Cream. It is rich in Vitamins C, E, Marine Collagen and Retinol! It deeply repairs any damage caused to the skin, effectively minimising the most common signs of premature ageing. If you are one for usually wearing a lot of makeup, use this time to give your skin a bit of a rest. But don’t get me wrong, I am not saying go makeup-free! While you might not be socialising or have anyone at home to impress, following your usual daily skincare and makeup routine can actually provide a much-needed sense of normalcy in this otherwise abnormal existence we all suddenly find ourselves in! Instead simply opt for heathier formulations like mineral foundations, powders, and bronzers which actually enable your skin to breathe more freely while truly perfecting your complexion!Try ELES Cosmetic’s global best-seller Liquid Powder Mineral Foundation. Formulated with Vitamins A, C & E. it provides both flawless coverage and antioxidant protection. With a change in season brings a change to your skin. One of the biggest skin issues we tend to see this time of year is dryness.Like me, you’ve probably already been dealing with dry hands as a result of washing them constantly, now you are likely to be experiencing a dry, lacklustre complexion too.Make sure you moisturise your hands regularly, preferably after washing when they are still a little damp as the cream helps to trap in moisture. I have been using the Phytomer Oleocreme Ultra-Nourishing Hand Cream and have to say my hands feel (and even look!) amazing. The rich, silky cream soothes and softens dry skin. Integrating a hydrating duo of marine oils, it intensely nourishes, moisturises and comforts while protecting skin from external stress.I personally suffer from dry skin, more so than ever this time of year. So I have recently incorporated two additional products into my routine and the difference this has made to my skin is huge. In the mornings I alternate between using my faithful Pevonia Age Correction Intensifier Collagen and Myoxy Caviar followed by my Pevonia Age Correction Marine Collagen Cream (products rich in hyaluronic acid are known to promote moisture) OR my Phytomer Pionniere XMF Radiance Retexturizing Serum followed by Hydra Continue Radiance Energizing Cream. At night I drench my skin in the Pevonia Vitaminic Concentrate, the perfect overnight repair oil. It combats excessive dryness, dehydration, and premature aging. It’s important to use products with SPF in them even when you aren’t leaving the house. One product that should remain constant in your everyday routine is SPF. While you might not see the need for it now that you're spending the majority, if not all your time indoors, do not be deceived! UVA light from the sun’s rays can actually still penetrate right through window glass believe it or not! Plus while we are still allowed out every day for exercise, I encourage you to take advantage of that and soak up your daily quota of vitamin D. Not only is it good for your health, a daily dose of sunlight is imperative for your wellbeing too. For a fantastic lightweight everyday cream with SPF 30, I highly recommend the ELES Defence Brightening Day Protection SPF 50.
Beauty Collective - Skincare Ingredients

INGREDIENT GLOSSARY: 10 ingredients you definitely want in your skincare and why

by Jo Boyden on May 31 2018
Probiotics, Essential Oils, Vitamin C, Vitamin E, AHA’s, BHA’s, Clay, Charcoal, Collagen, Hyaluronic Acid, Acai, Elastin, Retinol, Caviar, Aloe Vera, Green Tea …The list of “hero” ingredients is endless. But what exactly are the benefits of these ingredients and why do we need them in our skincare? To save all the confusion and prevent you spending hours trolling the internet for answers, we asked skincare expert and Pevonia Australia’s Director of Education, Liane Scior for the low down on her top 10 skincare ingredients (let’s face it without a little help, figuring out which “youth-enhancing” products to buy is enough to give us wrinkles!)“There are so many skincare products to choose from nowadays, all promising an array of solutions for our skin but without understanding the key ingredients and how they’ll benefit our individual needs, purchasing products can be a minefield,” said Scior.“It’s important to firstly work out what you really want from your skincare, for example whether it be luminosity, lesser wrinkles, smaller pores, a clear complexion….then read the benefits of these ingredients and understand if they are for you. Understanding ingredients will not only help you find the right skincare choices, it’ll also save time, money and potentially unwanted breakouts, reactions or simply just a lack of results”.AHA’s (Alpha Hydroxy Acids)Derived from plant and fruit sugars (glycolic, lactic, tartaric, and citric acids) AHA’s break down the glue that holds dead skin cells together allowing for fresh, new skin to come through. The gentle acids exfoliate skin, while offering a multitude of other benefits such an evening out skin tone, helping to fade pigmentation and age spots, hydrating the skin and providing an overall brighter complexion.AHA based skincare products are great for those who have a preference for a gentler exfoliation as they are free from beads and grains found in other exfoliators. Also good for those with dull, ageing and sun damaged skin.Try: Renewing Glycocides CreamBHA’s (Beta Hydroxy Acids)BHA’s are oil soluble mild acids (salicylic acid) that penetrate pores deeply to unclog, clean and clear oil, dirt, pollution and dead skin cells.BHA based skincare products are perfect for people dealing with blackheads, congested skin, breakouts and acneTry: Spot TreatmentCollagenCollagen is technically a protein. It actually occurs naturally in our bodies giving our skin strength and elasticity and working to replace dead skin cells. However as we age, our natural Collagen levels begin to decline which is why we need a little help by applying it topically through skincare.Collagen is re-absorbable, which means it can be broken down, reabsorbed into the skin and used to boost your skin's natural Collagen production processes, leaving you with a plump, refreshed complexion the natural way.Collagen based skincare products are perfect for those looking to counteract the first signs of aging.Try: Age Correction Intensifier Collagen & My-Oxy CaviarRetinolRetinol is a derivative of Vitamin A. It has been proven to boost collagen and elastin production, and energise and speed cell turnover making them function like the cells of a child! Using a well-formulated and stable product with retinol will also visibly reduce the appearance of sun damage, brown spots, lines, wrinkles and large pores.Retinol based products are perfect for those with sun damaged, dull and discoloured complexion. Also good for those suffering from blemished skin as it can reduce pore size and acne or simply aging skin.Try: Micro Retinol Essential MoisturiserHyaluronic AcidHyaluronic acid is a natural substance in skin, a component of the body’s connective tissues. As we age, the environment and lifestyle choices destroy hyaluronic acid in our skin, in turn our skin loses the ability to preserve moisture, resulting in the visible loss of firmness and plumpness. Hyaluronic acid when applied topically through skincare has the ability to replenish moisture (that is crucial to having younger-looking, supple skin) as well as revitalise the skin’s outer layers, so they look and feel plumper, smoother and softer. Hyaluronic based products are also known to improve the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.Try: Age Correction Marine Collagen Cream(Plant) Stem CellsPlant stem cells are undifferentiated cells taken from the stem of a plant. Like human stem cells, they have the ability to self-renew and when applied topically to the skin, help protect the human skin stem cells from damage and deterioration as well as stimulate better cell turnover, leading to more youthful skin cells at the surface of the skin.Products that contain plant stem cells can help keep skin looking young by fighting off wrinkles, protecting against sun damage and reducing inflammation.Try: Stem Cells Phyto-Elite SerumVitamin CVitamin C is a water-soluble vitamin and powerful antioxidant which helps boost collagen production while treating photo-damage. Not only does it penetrate the skin to fight free radical damage caused by the environment it also helps fade pigmentation and repair tired, lacklustre skin visibly boosting skin brightness and luminosity.Vitamin C based products are perfect for those with dull, devitalised, pigmented and aging skin.Try: “C” ComplexeProbioticsProbiotics are good bacteria that normally reside in our bodies and in our skin. Due to sickness, toxicity, the use of antibiotics, and other external factors, our good bacteria diminishes.Topical probiotics help deliver a dose of good bacteria directly to our skin, restoring radiance and balance. Some topical probiotics are recommended for mature skin because of their ability to regenerate as well as protect the skin by retaining moisture, healing wounds, and increasing collagen and elastin production for anti-aging effects. They are also an effective anti-inflammatory which means they bring calm to the skin soothing redness and irritation.Products formulated with probiotics are great for anyone wanting to restore balance and radiance to the skin. Also perfect for those wanting to counteract large pores, uneven texture, oil excess, aging and dehydration.Try: Age Correction Micro Pores Bio-Active MaskElastinElastin is a highly elastic protein in connective tissue that gives skin its flexibility. It is a crucial factor in ensuring we maintain a youthful appearance. Also when applied topically it helps skin retain moisture. Our bodies start to produce less and less of the protein as we get older. As skin loses elasticity it starts to show signs of aging - sagging and wrinkling.Products formulated with elastin are great for those with skin sagging and loss of elasticity. They deliver repairing and tightening benefits, visibly firming the skin.Try: Age Correction Firming Marine Elastin CreamVitamin EAn antioxidant that protects skin effectively against free radical damage which plays a large part in the aging of our skin!By blocking free radicals, products formulated with Vitamin E can reduce the signs of aging including fine lines, wrinkles and brown spots in turn prolonging youthful looking skin.Try: Vitaminic Concentratehttps://www.instagram.com/p/BjW7mVgA5sP/?taken-by=pevoniaaust

Beauty Collective - ANtioxidant bronzer

Applying a Bronzer According to Face Shape for a Natural Sunkissed Look

by Jo Boyden on Feb 22 2018
Do you sometimes wonder how some people always look fresh and sunkissed even during fall? It’s like their complexion is perfect all year round! A healthy-looking skin tone is always on trend and you need a bronzer to add that au naturale glow and warmth to your face.Applying bronzer is key to creating the perfect glow you want to achieve. It also enhances your complexion. Strategically applying it according to your face shape makes that glow look so natural. You'll look like you’re not wearing makeup at all. Also remember that as you gain or lose weight, your face shape may change. Keeping these pointers handy will help you enhance your face shape and complexion. Are you ready? Grab your ELES Anti-Oxidant Bronzer and follow the steps below:The General Rule in Bronzer ApplicationOur goal here is to add a “natural glow” to your everyday look. With contouring, you use a bronzer and a highlighter. This time, we will only use a matte bronzer. The general rule is to apply it on areas of the face on which the sun would naturally touch -- forehead, bridge of the nose and cheekbones.Oval Face ShapeWhere to apply: top of the forehead, along the hairline apples of your cheeks (not the hollows like when you contour) dust along bridge of the nose Heart Face ShapeWhere to apply: forehead (apply more on hairline and temple for a more proportioned look) cheekbones (heart-shaped face has prominent cheekbones so apply bronzer on the cheekbones and a little bit on the side) dust bronzer on the center of the chin Round Face ShapeWhere to apply: Slim the face by applying along the cheekbones downward towards the jaw. This will create a subtle rectangular effect that elongates the face a little bit. Rectangular/Oblong Face ShapeWhere to apply: middle of the forehead to shorten the length of the face middle of the cheeks (right between the hollows and the top of the cheekbones) Square Face ShapeWhere to apply: a little on forehead, curving to the temples to soften the corners of the face top of the cheekbones The ELES Anti-Oxidant Bronzer is ideal for achieving a sunkissed glow because it is matte. It has a very natural colour but you can always build it up if you have a darker skin tone. You can also use it as an eyeshadow or under your favourite lip gloss for a touch of earthy colour on your lips. Here are other benefits: Hypoallergenic Paraben-free Vitamins C & E condition skin and help combat the damaging effects of free radical scavengers GET A FREE KABUKI BRUSH WHEN YOU PURCHASE THE ELES ANTI-OXIDANT BRONZER THIS FEBRUARY!

Plus, you'll have a luminous glow all day long.Let's start with the coverage: It feels very light, you can barely feel it on the skin and you can build it with layers that give you any desired effect from super-light to full. A little goes a very long way! You may need concealer; a little under the eyes and on blemishes if you want the “perfect skin” look, however most are happy with the coverage and don’t feel the need for added cover up.One thing we love is the flexible pigments in HD Luminous that float above lines and wrinkles and adjust to your facial movements, giving you natural-looking coverage that won’t crease or crack. Great news for those of us with fine lines! What’s inside? Pro Barrier Complex helps protect and repair damaged skin. This complex contains LCA Complex for advanced moisturization, multi-layer skin renewal and antioxidant protectionIt is formulated with ceramides, cholesterol and essential fatty acids to aid in restoring a healthy lipid barrier over impaired skin making it ideal for all skin types, including sensitive and rosacea-proneIt also has specially-engineered Titanium Dioxide which helps scatter light for a more even skin tone and Optical Diffusion Technology which helps minimize the look of lines and wrinkles and acts like a “soft filter” for the skin.If that’s not enough we’ll throw in some Ascorbyl Glucoside, which slowly releases Vitamin C for all day skin radiance and Silk Powder to help hide pores. Finally White Water Lily, Indian Jasmine, Vitamin C and Vitamin E help brighten and condition skin.So all up this foundation is so much more than makeup, in fact, if you took away the pigment you’d have a wonderful anti-ageing skin care product! And the exciting news is we’ve added two new shades! Welcome Linen and Cream Beige, two of our most popular shades in the Liquid Mineral Foundation. What’s more…this month when you purchase a HD Luminous Foundation, you’ll receive a free Pro-Blend Sponge, an indispensable tool for getting an airbrush effect to your base!

8 beauty tips to banish rosacea

by Jo Boyden on Apr 01 2017
Rosacea. I’m sure you’ve heard the name but I bet you didn’t know that it’s so common (think 45 million people) that the month of April has been designated GLOBALLY as Rosacea Awareness Month! What exactly is rosacea though I hear you asking… In layman’s terms rosacea is an inflammatory skin condition which often presents with facial redness. However many tend to mistake the redness (or bumps that can come with it), for acne. Other tell-tale signs include; dilated capillaries, congestion and pustules.  Although there’s no cure for rosacea, the great news is by following these essential tips you could avoid flair ups have your skin red-free in next to no time!  Try to avoid alcohol Think beauty products containing alcohol as well as alcoholic drinks we are all a little partial too from time to time! Sadly a glass of wine for instance can worsen the redness caused by rosacea. Noooo! Watch what you eat Certain foods can cause your skin to flush (or otherwise heat up!) try to avoid or at least reduce eating foods including; oranges, strawberries, peanuts, cashews and caffeine. Hot and spicy curries are also a no no! Eat a diet rich in multi vitamins and essential fatty Acids Vitamin A & C foods such as broccoli, sweet potato, carrots and leafy greens help strengthen the skin while foods such as salmon, almonds and eggs rich in fatty acids help produce the skin's natural oil barrier, critical in keeping skin hydrated, plumper, and younger looking while protecting it from environmental irritants. Avoid strenuous exercise. Oh ok then you’ve twisted by arm! Always use sun protection. The sun unfortunately is a trigger for rosacea. Avoid extreme temperatures. So no soaking in a HOT bath (ahhhh), relaxing in a sauna or slaving over a very hot stove! Do not slather on your makeup. Yes we all want to conceal our blemishes but layering makeup may only inflame your symptoms more! You want to select multi-tasking products, colour correctors and breathable foundations and powders so skin if covered but calm without being clogged! Give mineral makeup a go. You won’t regret it. The right skincare will be your best friend. With the constant use of effective skincare rosacea can be reduced and in some cases totally controlled! Pevonia's RS2 range, created by world renowned dermatologist, biochemist and a pioneer in advanced organic skincare, Dr. Sylvie Hennessy, was designed to specifically treat rosacea. Formulated with the most purest, natural, nurturing ingredients including Green Tea, Chamomile, Liquorice, Allantoin, Vitamin E and Rose Essential Oil the range strengthens capillaries, desensitizes, decongests, soothes, and hydrates while rendering skin evenly toned and visibly calmed.
