Two products that work together to visibly lift, firm, brighten, and hydrate your delicate peepers! Whether you’re battling puffiness, dark circles or fine lines, this trusted pair has you covered! Keep reading to find out why they should be a staple in your daily routine too!   The power pair This two-step eye care delivers visible results by targeting the delicate eye area with gentle yet effective formulas that work in perfect harmony. Each ingredient in both products work together to nourish and brighten tired, ageing eyes, while reducing wrinkles, dark circles and puffiness.   Step One: Brighten and De-Puff with Pevonia “C” Evolutive Eye Gel A personal favourite of mine and highly recommended by the BC Pros, this cooling, and incredibly refreshing vitamin C-infused eye gel is your go-to for energising the delicate under-eye area. Also formulated with marine collagen, hyaluronic acid, elastin, green coffee and ginkgo biloba leaf extract, it works to increase circulation and flush away toxins to immediately reduce puffiness while also smooth fine lines, and reviving fatigued eyes. Its lightweight texture absorbs quickly, making it perfect for morning use or layering under makeup. And the result? Instantly refreshed, awake-looking eyes that feel oh so soothed. But don’t just take our word for it, our customers rave about this eye gel too. “I have been using this eye gel for years and would highly recommend it to anyone concerned about tired, puffy and ageing eyes. I love that it’s a cooling gel that deeply nourishes and depuffs my tired eyes in an instant! Plus, I am certain it’s kept my fine lines and wrinkles at bay!” - Joey B So, I bought this product because of the reviews. I had a problem with puffy old looking eyes and I'll tell you, it worked INSTANTLY on me! I was hoping that it would do the job when I was on my way out the door hating the way my eyes looked. Then applied and it worked right away! - Suzette “I love this eye gel, I have been using it for years now. Even on the puffiest eye mornings, it makes your eyes feel so nice. It's like medicine for your under eye area. I love it.” - Jane G  Step Two: Nourish and Rejuvenate with Pevonia Evolutive Eye Cream This rich yet non-greasy eye cream is the second essential step in your eye care ritual. Loaded with anti-ageing and nourishing ingredients including hyaluronic acid, squalane, vitamin e, glycolic acid and retinol, it deeply hydrates, firms, brightens and calms the skin while reducing crow’s feet, leaving skin feeling supple, smooth and radiant. Ideal for night-time replenishment, this eye cream also encourages cell turnover and continues repairing the skin cells while you sleep too! It really is outstanding and our customers agree too! “This is the best eye cream I ever used. I absolutely love the texture, not too light but not heavy either. Keeps my eye contour hydrated all day and I actually stopped using a concealer around my eyes as I simply don't need it anymore! I started to have really deep wrinkles around my eyes-tried so many different creams-but the wrinkles just kept getting deeper and I always had a dry looking eye contour at the end of the day. Well after using this cream for let’s say a week I saw a huge improvement in my eye contour! Highly recommend this cream!” - Demi “I love this eye cream. It is light and refreshes my eyes to help me stay youthful.” - Sacha W This eye cream is amazing - I have noticed a difference within a week of using - My eye area now looks hydrated. Very happy !!” - Margaret L Why Use Both? Using both products in tandem ensures you’re covering all eye area concerns—hydration, puffiness, brightness, elasticity, and fine lines. Gemstone Facial Rollers From rejuvenating jade to calm and soothing rose quartz, detoxifying Obsidian to purifying amethyst, we highly recommend introducing a gemstone roller into your morning ritual. So clever! To find out more about gemstone rollers, their multitude of benefits and how to incorporate one into your beauty routine click here. 6. ELES Dual Action Concealer And finally, the makeup must have for concealing under eye darkness! When it comes to camouflaging dark under eye circles, a concealer is by far your best bet! And this anti-aging concealer actually helps to gradually improve skin's texture while concealing those obvious under eye dark circles. Its nourishing and brightening formula of vitamin E, vitamin C, caffeine and peptides, provides continuous hydration as well as a natural longwearing finish meaning it lasts for hours without seeping into fine lines and wrinkles! Just remember to choose a shade that’s lighter than your natural skin tone as this will help brighten the area so you look like you’ve had plenty of sleep. For the most brightening effect, apply your concealer in a “V” or upside-down triangle shape beneath your eye. Swipe it directly under the eye, but bring it down to a point on your cheek beside your nostril and fill in the entire area. Blend well with a small makeup brush and then finish with a powder to set the concealer so it doesn’t crease. “This concealer is perfection. It goes on smooth, doesn't crease, and covers dark circles completely. The concealer lasts forever because you don't need to use a lot to get full coverage.” - Marwa Yates, BC Customer “This is my go too concealer especially for my dark circles under my eyes. This is awesome on its own when I don’t want to wear make up but I was to cover my dark circles or under my foundation. Definitely worth the investment.” - Christina K, BC Customer “I love this product been using it for 2 years. You only need the littlest amount to hide dark under eyes reduce the look of wrinkles around your nose and mouth. I always have to have it.” – Josephine Piper   As well as using a high-quality eye cream or gel, it's very important to adopt healthy lifestyle habits too! Unfortunately, like with anything, your lifestyle plays a crucial role when it comes to eye ageing too. Make sure you stay hydrated as dehydration really does exacerbate fine lines and dark circles. Sleep (and I’m talking quality 7 – 9 hours a night minimum) is essential! (lack of sleep will only pronounce dark circles and puffiness more). Believe it or not, what you eat can affect your eyes so try to eat a diet rich in antioxidants and omega-3s, nourish the skin and always wear your sunglasses to protect your eyes from UV damage! Tired eyes? Top tips to instantly brighten dark circles

Tired eyes? Top tips to instantly brighten dark circles

by Jo Boyden on Nov 15 2024
Feeling fatigued and showing it around your eyes? I feel you! As a busy working mum of two I often find myself looking in the mirror in the morning and being shocked at how tired I look! Unfortunately dark circles can make us look older and more tired than we actually are too! But fear not, I’m here to tell you there are quick and easy ways to brighten up your under-eye area! Keep reading as we discuss why you might be waking with dark circles daily and our expert tips on how to restore a youthful glow in next to no time.   So why are you waking with dark circles? While we can all probably do with a little more sleep than we are getting, dark circles are often misunderstood as simply a result of poor quality or lack of sleep, but they can actually arise from various other factors too; Dehydration Not drinking enough water can make your skin look dull and can even cause the area around your eyes to darken, as the skin here is delicate and reacts quickly to fluid levels. Genetics and skin tone Some people are more prone to dark circles due to their genetics (thanks parents!), especially if they have fair or thin skin, which can make blood vessels under the eyes more visible. Allergies or sinus congestion Allergies and sinus issues can lead to inflammation and swelling in the blood vessels around the eyes, which may worsen dark circles. Ageing As we age, the skin loses collagen and becomes thinner, which can make dark circles more noticeable due to the skin’s reduced ability to cover blood vessels. Lifestyle Factors High-stress levels, excessive screen time, and frequent rubbing of the eyes can also contribute to darkening around the eyes.   Top tips on improving dark circles Chill out with cold compresses Cold compresses are a classic trick for a reason! The cold helps constrict blood vessels, reducing puffiness and lightening dark circles. You can use anything from chilled spoons to a gel eye mask, or even cucumber slices. Place them on your eyes for about 5-10 minutes, and you’ll notice an immediate difference in the appearance of dark circles and puffiness too.  Use brightening eye products with key ingredients Eye gels and creams can be highly effective when they contain ingredients specifically designed to target darkness and puffiness. Look for formulas that include: Vitamin C: A powerful antioxidant that brightens skin and reduces pigmentation. Caffeine: Known for its ability to reduce puffiness by shrinking blood vessels. Hyaluronic Acid: Hydrates and plumps up the skin, making dark circles less noticeable. Niacinamide: Brightens skin, strengthens the skin barrier, and reduces pigmentation and inflammation, which can make under-eye circles less noticeable. Using an eye product daily, especially one formulated with these brightening ingredients, will help your under-eye area stay hydrated and refreshed. We highly recommend; Vie Collection’s Chrono Eyes Puffiness-Dark Circles Wrinkle Cream. It’s a mouthful to say, but a product that does exactly what it says! This beautifully fine cream is enriched with moisturising and brightening ingredients including hyaluronic acid, niacinamide and vitamin c to deeply nourish and repair the delicate eye area while reversing puffiness, dark circles, and wrinkles! Oh and it instantly brightens the eye area too!   Try gentle massage with a gemstone roller By doing so you’ll help improve circulation, remove toxins from the eye area significantly improving dark circles and bags under the eyes, reduce inflammation, refresh the skin and tone your face! In fact gemstone rollers offer a multitude of other benefits too to your skin too. Click here to find out more.   Hydrate, Hydrate, Hydrate! Dehydration can make dark circles appear darker and cause fine lines under the eyes. Make sure you’re drinking enough water throughout the day to keep your skin hydrated. Limit screen time and take breaks If dark circles are a recurring issue, you might want to consider reducing your screen time! This is because too much of staring at your screen (and I’m sure many of us are guilt of this whether it be during the day or late into the night!) can cause eye strain and fatigue. Why is this you might be wondering! Because our screen emits blue light which is damaging to our eyes and can actually encourage fatigue and exacerbate dark circles! Try following the 20-20-20 rule: every 20 minutes, look at something 20 feet away for 20 seconds to rest your eyes. Taking regular breaks from screens will reduce strain and keep your eyes looking brighter and fresher. Stress less Yes, that’s right, stress is a contributor to those dark circles of yours! So try to stress less! Easier said than done when you are trying to juggle so many balls, however, try to introduce a little me time into your life, time for you to relax and unwind. Read a book perhaps, listen to soothing music or even practice yoga or meditation every day. Every little helps you and those dark circles of yours! Watch your diet Try to eat a diet rich in antioxidants, vitamins, and healthy fats. Foods like leafy greens, citrus fruits, nuts, and seeds all help promote skin health, making you look and feel more rested! Use green tea bags for an antioxidant boost Green tea is rich in antioxidants and tannins, which can reduce puffiness and dark circles. Simply take two (used) green tea bags, place them in the refrigerator, and once they’re chilled, place them over your eyes for about 10 minutes. This quick and natural remedy helps tighten the skin and reduce the appearance of under-eye darkness. Really!   Get your beauty sleep We don’t all need hours and hours of sleep like some but getting enough good quality sleep is essential for keeping dark circles at bay. Aim for 7-8 hours of quality rest each night to allow your body to repair and refresh itself. Sleep with your head slightly elevated to prevent fluid buildup around the eyes, which can lead to puffiness and dark circles in the morning. Remember there is NO substitute for a good night’s sleep! Conceal smartly Concealer can work wonders for tired eyes when applied the right way. A good undereye concealer can give you complete coverage as well as make you look bright-eyed in seconds! Choose a creamy concealer in a shade that matches your skin tone or is slightly peach-toned to neutralize the blue or purple tones of dark circles. Dab a small amount on the inner corners and blend it outward for a natural look. To avoid a cakey appearance, use a lightweight, hydrating formula and only apply where you see shadows. Try  ELES Dual Action Concealer. This is my personal secret weapon for concealing dark under eye circles and helping me look like I’ve had 8 hours of blissful slumber as opposed to only 5!   Use sunscreen daily Protecting skin from sun damage can prevent darkening and worsening of circles caused by pigmentation. You’ll also want to religiously wear your sunglasses as this can make a huge difference.   Just remember dark circles don’t have to be a permanent fixture! By incorporating these quick fixes and lifestyle adjustments into your routine, I promise you’ll notice a fresher, more radiant under-eye area in no time.

Want more youthful eyes? The best eye cream ingredients

by Jo Boyden on Jan 26 2024
If you’ve recently noticed that your eyes are beginning to show obvious signs of ageing and it's starting to concern you, it's time you thought about investing in a good quality eye cream. You might be wondering where to start though, since let’s face it, there are many eye creams, gels, serums and treatments on the market, and you don’t want to fork out for something and not see results right? This is why, when it comes to eye creams, the right ingredients can make all the difference, especially when it comes to addressing specific concerns around your delicate eye area.Whether you are battling dark circles, puffiness perhaps? Or it’s the fine lines and wrinkles that are concerning you, below is a list of the best ingredients you’ll want to look out for when making your eye cream purchase. Firstly though, why is an eye cream so important? Will a moisturiser not suffice?Eye treatments whether it be creams, gels or serums are specifically formulated to target and care for the delicate area around the eyes, the thinnest layer of skin on our entire bodies! In fact, the skin under our eyes is up to 1/10 thinner than other facial skin so it’s crucial to care delicately for this area to avoid any damage.Like a moisturiser, an eye cream’s main objective is to deliver brightening and anti-ageing ingredients, however in a milder, gentler, safer dose. Moisturisers tend to have a much richer consistency in comparison to their counterpart which if applied under the eyes can prove too much, resulting in irritation, allergic reactions and milia.Eye creams also tend to be targeted to specific eye concerns such as crow’s feet, under eye bags and dark circles. The bottom line is that eye creams are essentially facial moisturisers that are modified for use on the more delicate skin around the eyes this includes the use of specific ingredients. Here are the ones you should be looking out for…. Hyaluronic Acid A truly powerhouse ingredient for hydration, hyaluronic acid attracts and retains moisture, plumping the skin and reducing the appearance of fine lines. For more on hyaluronic acid and the reasons why you should use this ingredient under your eyes click here Retinol Known for its anti-ageing properties, retinol helps stimulate collagen production and promote cell turnover, reducing the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.Just be sure to start with a lower concentration of retinol and gradually increase to avoid any irritation as the eye area is sensitive. Collagen This powerhouse protein helps improve elasticity and firmness, reducing the appearance of fine lines, making those crow’s feet less noticeable! Vitamin C A powerful antioxidant, vitamin C brightens dark circles, helps with collagen synthesis, and protects the skin from environmental damage. Niacinamide (Vit B3) Niacinamide helps improve the elasticity of the skin, reduces inflammation, and brightens the under-eye area. Caffeine Caffeine constricts blood vessels, reducing puffiness and dark circles. It also has antioxidant properties. Caviar Caviar extract is as close as we'll come to a time machine for those fine lines and wrinkles, especially around the eyes. Eye treatment formulated with caviar have powerful anti-ageing effects by tightening fibres in the skin while replenishing them with key nutrients. Peptides Peptides stimulate collagen production, improving skin firmness and reducing the appearance of wrinkles. Ceramides Ceramides strengthen the skin barrier, preventing moisture loss and addressing dryness around the eyes. Green Tea Green tea is rich in antioxidants that soothe and protect the delicate eye area. Licorice With anti-inflammatory and skin-brightening properties, licorice extract can help reduce puffiness and dark circles. Our top eye treatment recommendations; Pevonia Age Correction Eye ContourThis power repair eye contour gives tired, ageing eyes the burst of hydration they need! under eye crepiness

Top tips to improve under eye crepiness

by Jo Boyden on Sep 01 2023
If like me, you’re in your 40’s (or older), you may have fallen victim to under eye crepiness – that undesirable loose, wrinkled skin that can make you look tired, but also older than you actually are! This is because as we age the collagen and elastin levels in our skin starts to decline, as it does the delicate skin around our eyes (one of the first and most prevalent areas to show premature ageing) becomes dryer and thinner, and well crepey! Luckily all is not lost though! There are a number of steps you can take to improve its appearance, and we aren’t talking chemical peels, dermal fillers, laser and Botox, no siree, we are all about natural, non-intrusive alternatives. Keep reading as we reveal them all!Firstly though, why might you be more susceptible to under eye crepiness? The most common cause of fine lines, wrinkles and crepey skin under your eyes is unfortunately ageing, which can of course be influenced by genetics (thank you Mum and Dad!) But other common contributing factors which may be possible to avoid include;UV radiation – exposure to UV rays accelerates the breakdown of collagen leading to premature ageing, this is why it’s essential to protect our peepers! If you don’t wear sunnies every single day like you do your sunscreen, you should now!Smoking – smoking exposures your skin to extra oxidative stress, in turn damaging its collagen and elastin. Smoking also constricts the blood vessels under your eyes by blocking circulation to your blood vessels and depriving your skin of necessary vitamin A.Environmental factors - environmental factors, such as dry weather, wind, and pollution can all contribute to undereye ageing.Pulling repetitive expressions – well I’m definitely guilty of this! Facial expressions, like smiling, frowning, and furrowing your brow, can cause fine lines to develop prematurely around your delicate eye area. Eek!Even the way we sleep can have a negative impact on our eyes! What you might say? Yup, if you sleep with your face buried in your pillow (guilty as charged) you are likely to be more prone to premature fine lines, wrinkles and eye crepiness, than those that don’t! Aghhh. How can you improve undereye crepiness?Although crepey skin will not disappear overnight, it can be drastically improved with time, the right anti-aging products, as well as lifestyle changes. It can take weeks or even months to see results, but by following these top 10 tips you can bid adieu to that saggy, sullen, crepey skin under your eyes. Stay hydrated. All. The. Time. Yes, you’ve heard it a million times before, drink all the water. Hydration is key my friends. Make sure you are drinking enough water throughout the day (we’re talking 8 glasses minimum). When you drink water, it’s like giving your skin a drink from the inside out too (and that water has to nourish all your other vital organise too! Treat sunscreen like is your BFF Never underestimate the power of sunscreen. Those harmful UV rays are a major contributor to premature aging. So, slather on that sunscreen every morning, even on cloudy days. Your future self will thank you!Not a huge fan of sunscreen? We get it. Soo many sunscreens feel greasy, don’t smell great or simply don’t sit well on our skin, and then there are those thick white sunscreens that look like a paste when applied too! That’s why we love the ELES Luminous Defence Brightening Day Protection SPF 50. It’s not greasy but instead silky soft, the scent isn’t unpleasant, and it applies beautifully to my skin. And thanks to its formulation its helps nourish and restore skins luminosity too, not to mention it’s high SPF of 50! Invest in an eye cream rich in hyaluronic acid and use it day and night Investing in a good quality eye cream that's packed with hydrating and skin-loving ingredients including hyaluronic acid and peptides will do wonders for ageing eyes. Gently pat the product around your eyes morning and night for that extra boost of moisture and optimal results. For more on the benefits of using hyaluronic acid under your eyes and our 3 favourite eye treatments click here. Add a gemstone facial roller to your daily beauty routine The roller will, not only help reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles around the eyes, when used correctly, it can dramatically reduce puffiness by moving excess fluid around your eyes towards your lymph nodes where it filters out the toxins too. Cool right? To find out more about the facial rollers and how to use them click here. Introduce tea time for your eyes Tea isn’t just for drinking you know, it’s also good for soothing your eyes too! Try placing cold tea bags (caffeine free, herbal tea is best!) on your closed eyes for a few minutes. The tannins in tea can help tighten the skin and reduce puffiness too! Consider practicing eye massage Light massage with your ring finger can improve bloody circulation and actually help your skin appear smoother. Remember gentle, gentle though as applying too much pressure to already thin, delicate skin can have the adverse effect! Give your eyes a rest from screen time Increased time in front of your laptop and on your phone can reap havoc with your precious peepers. In fact, spending just two consecutive hours on a digital device can cause eyestrain or fatigue while overexposure to blue light also suppresses the release of melatonin, the hormone that regulates sleep, therefore disrupting our normal sleep pattern. And we all know poor sleep can lead to premature ageing, especially around the delicate eye area! Make healthy lifestyle choices Your overall health reflects on your skin, including the delicate eye area. Eat a balanced diet rich in antioxidants, vitamins, and omega-3 fatty acids. And if you're a smoker, consider kicking the habit – smoking accelerates skin aging like nobody's business. Using gentle cleansing is a must Be kind to your skin when you cleanse but also never skip on cleansing, it’s a must, just be sure to use a gentle, hydrating cleanser that doesn't strip away your skin's natural oils. Harsh cleansers can contribute to dryness and crepiness. Try Medicalia’s Gentle Cleanser. Introduce cold compress magic Incorporate cold compresses into your routine. Applying a cold, damp cloth or chilled spoons over your eyes for a few minutes can help reduce puffiness and refresh your skin. Keep skin hydrated Invest in a good hydrating mist. A quick spritz throughout the day can give your skin the moisture it craves, helping to minimize crepiness. We love Pevonia’s Hyaluronic Acid Hydra Mist. It’s one of my all time favourites. Make sure you get enough Zzzz’s Beauty sleep is real people! After all it’s not dubbed beauty sleep for nothing! Make sure you're getting enough restful sleep each night. Elevate your head slightly with an extra pillow to prevent fluid from pooling around your eyes, which can lead to puffiness and crepiness. Upgrade your pillow case If you are one for sleeping with your face in the pillow, you might want to consider switching up your cotton pillowcase to a silk or satin alternative instead.Silk has natural moisturising properties to retain moisture around the eyes. The dense weave of the silky-smooth fibres also keep moisture close to your skin, this extra moisture can help to reduce dark circles, fine lines and wrinkles.Just remember, Rome wasn’t built in day, and your under-eye skin won’t transform overnight either sadly (if only!) Be patient and be religious with these steps and you’ll be waking up to smoother, brighter and younger looking eyes soon!
Beauty Collective - Jade Roller

Face Roller – the perfect skincare addition

by Jo Boyden on Aug 04 2023
Gemstone 'jade' rollers. They aren’t a new beauty trend, in fact people have been using this massage tool since the 7th century! Originated in ancient China, jade rollers were then considered to be a precious gemstone with anti-ageing superpowers, and jade ‘rolling’ was a skincare ritual reserved for the elite, however in recent years it appears that every skincare fanatic, beauty blogger and industry expert has started to rave about them, and not just jade rollers per se, but gemstone rollers, a range of face rollers made of semi-precious stones that include jade, but also amethyst, obsidian, rose quartz and more. If you haven’t tried using a jade roller, or gemstone roller should I say, you might be wondering what all the fuss is about, after all, do these tools of the trade really deserve a spot in your skincare routine? Especially when you feel overwhelmed with the products and tools you already use! In short though the answer is yes! And we are going to tell you why! Firstly what is a jade roller? A jade roller is a skincare tool made from a smooth, naturally cool gemstone called jade. It typically consists of a larger stone for the cheeks, forehead, and neck, and a smaller stone for more delicate areas like the under-eye and around the nose. But why should you consider adding this seemingly simple tool to your extensive collection of serums and creams? Because of their many benefits…. What are the benefits of using a jade roller? They are an amazing massage tool Facial massage is not only a way to indulge your skin, it also provides skin with numerous benefits. But instead of just using your fingers, what better way to massage your face than with a gemstone roller! The gentle massaging action not only feels amazing (like you’re enjoying a facial in your favourite spa), it also helps stimulate facial muscles (which can help tighten your skin), relieve tension, and improve blood circulation and lymphatic drainage. They help reduce puffiness The healing properties and natural coolness of the gemstone can help constrict blood vessels, effectively reducing puffiness and inflammation on your face, especially around the eyes and cheeks. No more tired, puffy face in the mornings! They help relieve stress and induce relaxation We all know that stress can take a toll on our skin, leading to breakouts and premature aging. But incorporating a jade roller into your skincare routine can be a game-changer in combating stress. The rhythmic rolling motion helps relax facial muscles, releasing tension and promoting an overall sense of calm. It's like giving your face a mini meditation session! They help boost the effectiveness of your skincare products If you are guilty of investing in expensive skincare products but maybe not seeing the desired results, here's a little secret: gemstone rollers can enhance your product absorption game. After applying your favourite serum, moisturiser or oil, simply roll the gemstone over your skin. The roller's massaging action allows those potent ingredients to penetrate deeper into your skin (really!) maximizing their effectiveness. Hello, glowing and nourished complexion! They help reduce the appearance of fine lines While we can't promise that using a gemstone roller will magically erase all your wrinkles, regular use can improve skin's elasticity, leading to a reduction in fine lines and wrinkles over time. They are a natural and non-invasive approach to younger looking skin In a world full of high-tech skincare gadgets and invasive procedures, gemstone rollers offer a refreshing alternative. They are gentle, natural, and suitable for most skin types. So, whether you have sensitive, oily, or combination skin, you can roll your way to healthier-looking skin without any worry! How to use a jade roller Thinking about incorporating a gemstone roller into your skincare routine? Ensure you use it gently, avoid applying excessive pressure, and clean it regularly to maintain hygiene. For best results, we recommend cleansing your skin first, then applying a small amount of serum or light oil to your skin. Take your jade roller and start at the chin. Using broad, long strokes roll the jade roller horizontally to the hairline - you should apply slight pressure but not so that it is "pulling" your skin. Then, from the nose, gently roll towards the ear - smoothing the skin under the eyes. Moving up, use the small end of the roller around the corner of the eye, rolling to the temples. Last up, place the roller above the eyebrow and push up towards the hairline. You can also finish by rolling horizontally from the middle of the forehead out towards the temples. How often should you use a Facial Roller? You can use a roller every day for optimum results. If there is a day where you feel like your skin is especially puffy, then morning and evening should work wonders! Don’t forget to regularly clean your roller. Since the tools are being used on your face and can easily spread bacteria, clean them with warm water and soap after use and store in a clean, dry place. From depuffing to boosting product absorption, and providing a relaxing experience, gemstone rollers are the perfect addition to your skincare routine. So, next time you're treating yourself to a self-care session, why not add a little jade rolling action to the mix? Your skin will thank you for it! Hyaluronic Acid for the under eye

6 reasons why you should use hyaluronic acid under your eyes

by Jo Boyden on Mar 15 2023
We are taught from an early age to look after our skin - to cleanse every evening and apply moisturiser to keep skin supple and nourished day and night. But more often than not, our eyes get forgotten. The irony is the skin around our eyes is the most delicate on our face and the first to show signs of ageing. Eye ageing starts in the form of fatigue, we’re talking dark, sullen skin or under eye puffy circles, then the fine lines and wrinkles start to form, all of which could be dramatically reduced if we were to look after our eyes from any early age. Prevention is key as they say! But also, it’s never too late to show those peepers of yours some TLC and the best way to do this is to use a nourishing eye cream rich in hydrating and anti-ageing ingredient hyaluronic acid! Keep reading to learn why using a hyaluronic acid eye cream or serum in your daily skin care routine is a must! Using a hyaluronic acid eye cream will make a noticeable impact on your eyes delicate skin’s moisture levels Hyaluronic acid is a powerful humectant, meaning it attracts and retains moisture in the skin, this is essential for keeping the skin around the eyes hydrated and supple. Using an eye cream formulated with hyaluronic acid will reduce fine lines and wrinkles As we age the skin around our eyes becomes dryer, thinner and loses its elasticity which leads to fine lines and wrinkles! And unfortunately the dryer this delicate area, the more visible those unwanted wrinkles are! Hyaluronic acid eye creams not only help prevent this from happening, but they also help to plump up the skin reducing the appearance of the already existing fine lines and wrinkles. Applying hyaluronic acid under your eyes can help soothe and calm irritated skin The delicate area surrounding your eyes can be easily irritated and in turn become inflamed. Hyaluronic acid has anti-inflammatory properties that can help soothe and calm the skin, reducing puffiness and redness around the eyes. Hyaluronic acid eye creams can brighten and even skin tone Dark circles and uneven skin tone around the eyes can be caused by dehydration and sun damage. This is turn can make eyes look dull and tired. Hyaluronic acid eye creams especially when they are formulated with vitamin C, can effectively help to brighten and even out the skin tone by hydrating the skin and promoting cell turnover. Hyaluronic acid is a powerful antioxidant which can protect your peepers In addition to its hydrating and anti-inflammatory properties, hyaluronic acid is also a powerful antioxidant which can help to protect the skin from damage caused by environmental stressors such as UV rays and pollution. Using a cream rich in hyaluronic acid can help prevent premature eye ageing As I mentioned earlier prevention is key when it comes to premature ageing. By being proactive and using a hyaluronic acid eye cream will improve skins elasticity no end and prevent premature wrinkles from even forming!Overall, using a hyaluronic acid eye cream or serum can help to keep the delicate skin under your eyes hydrated, plump and youthful looking. However, when using hyaluronic acid under the eyes, it’s important to choose a product that is specifically formulated for this area of the face as some products may be too heavy. Look for lightweight serums or eye creams that contain hyaluronic acid and apply them gently using your fingertip. Some of our favourite, and our bestselling eye creams formulated with hyaluronic acid include; Vie Collection Chrono Eyes Puffiness – Dark Circles Wrinkle CreamThis outstanding eye cream draws its inspiration from the eye rejuvenating hyaluronic acid injections carried out in aesthetic doctors practices! It’s suitable for everyone, even those with super sensitive eyes and it does exactly what the bottle says! It attacks puffiness, dark circles and wrinkles with a powerful burst of encapsulated high molecular weight hyaluronic acid, injectables-like peptide, fatty acids, vitamin c and niacinamide for exceptional results.“This is a wonderful eye cream, it gives immediate gratification thanks to a pearlescent finish that instantly brightens the eye area and it has definitely calmed my puffiness, lightened by dark circles and even smoothed my wrinkles! It’s truly a fabulous eye cream that is well worth the price tag.” Lisa MPevonia C Evolutive Eye GelEven thought this eye gel has ‘C’ in the title for Vitamin C, it is also rich in Hyaluronic Acid and Ginkgo Biloba, making it one powerhouse product! These three potent ingredients work together to deliver not only decongesting and brightening benefits but they also affectively target dark circles and wrinkles. The results speak for themselves. Renewed, rejuvenated, refreshed and visibly brighter eye contour with visible reduction in wrinkles.“I have been using this for 15 yrs and best eye gel for keeping the wrinkles at bay” Isabelle C Age Correction Eye ContourThis power repair eye contour gives tired, ageing eyes the burst of hydration they need! Deeply nourishing thanks to its combination of marine collagen, marine elastin and sodium hyaluronate (the salt form of hyaluronic acid that is synthesized to create a smaller molecular structure for stability, increased resistance to oxidation and deeper penetration of the skin providing vital nourishment deep down not just at surface level) it targets signs of fatigue, visibly reducing puffiness, fine lines and wrinkles. What more could you want?“Reduces wrinkles and firms eyelids. It's also cool and soothing to eye area. No oily film to interfere with applying eye makeup. Have seen reduction in fine lines in crow's feet area.” Laura L

Unfortunately our eyes are the first area of our face to show ageing, but help is on hand, and it doesn’t involve surgery or injectables! We’ve put together the top 13 beauty tips for ageing eyes to help every mature woman look years younger naturally….keep reading…Use an Eye Cream specifically designed for mature skin, and use it religiouslyUsing an eye cream specifically designed for mature skin can help reduce wrinkles and fine lines around the eyes. Make sure to use an eye cream that contains vitamin c for skin brightening, fatty acids and peptides, which help stimulate collagen production and reduce the appearance of wrinkles.Try: Vie Collection Chrono Eyes Puffiness Dark Circles Wrinkles Cream. Formulated with hyaluronic acid, injectables-like peptide, Phytosterols + Fatty acids, Vitamin C and Vitamin B3! This beautifully fine cream deeply nourishes the eye area while reversing puffiness, dark circles, and wrinkles! Seriously! it gives immediate gratification thanks to a pearlescent finish that instantly brightens the eye area, and it has definitely calmed my puffiness, lightened my dark circles, and even smoothed my wrinkles! I’m testament to that!Invest in a gemstone facial rollerAnd thank me later! By introducing this little gem (pardon the pun!) into your morning beauty routine, you’ll calm any fluid build-up around your eye area (which unfortunately increases with age). As well as their many medicinal benefits gemstone rollers can dramatically reduce puffiness by removing excess fluid around the eyes towards your lymph nodes where it filters out toxins! So clever! To find out more about gemstone rollers and their multitude of benefits click here.Use good undereye concealerLet’s face it, undereye circles can age you! While you’ll eye cream can improve the appearance greatly, a good undereye concealer can work it’s magic by totally covering them! Firstly though you’ll want to prime your skin first. This will help fill in any lines and make the skin appear smoother (essential if you want to prevent makeup falling into the creases and exacerbating signs of eye ageing!) Use your ring finger and gently dab your primer over the wrinkles to the sides of your eyes and spread. Now it’s time for your concealer. A good undereye concealer can give you complete coverage as well as make you look bright-eyed in seconds! Choose a shade lighter than your natural skin tone (as this will help brighten the area) but also opt for a “peachy” tone as this will counteract the blueish tinge of the shadows.Try ELES Dual Action Concealer my secret weapon for concealing my dark under eye circles and helping me look like I’ve had 8 hours of blissful slumber as opposed to only 5! It’s formulated with a myriad of anti-ageing wonder ingredients including Hyaluronic acid, Caffeine, Vitamins C & E, Collagen and more! And it actually helps to gradually improve skin’s texture while concealing those obvious under eye dark circles. Its moisturising formula provides continuous hydration as well as a natural longwearing finish meaning it lasts for hours without seeping into fine lines and wrinkles! It’s seriously good stuff. Simply apply with a small concealer brush and then finish with a powder to set the concealer so it doesn’t crease. For the most brightening effect, apply your concealer in a “V” or upside-down triangle shape beneath your eye. Swipe it directly under the eye, but bring it down to a point on your cheek beside your nostril and fill in the entire area.Use a little eye shadow to create the illusion of bigger eyesTo make our eyes look bigger, gently sweep a vanilla coloured shadow on your eyelids from your eyelashes to the crease. Use a medium tone shade in the crease – and slightly above the crease if you have hooded eyes. It can make your eyes pop without you looking OTT. Then use a touch of the vanilla-coloured eyeshadow just beneath the arch of your eyebrow to lift the eye, as well as at the inner corner of the eye.Wear mascara but choose it wiselyMascara is one of the most important products for adding definition and volume to the eyes, but there are a few points you need to know when it comes to selecting the right mascara for your ageing eyes.- Check out the ingredients in the mascara you are using. You might well have fallen for the marketing hype – longer, fuller lashes in seconds, but if your mascara contains preservatives, they can irritate your eyes which in turn will make you rub them more, this results in unwanted lash loss and let’s face it you want to cling onto those lashes of yours.- Be wary of using waterproof mascara daily. Waterproof mascara does indeed cause less smudging and smearing however the formulation can be harsher on your eye lashes, causing them to dry out as well as be tougher to remove (cue rubbing!) Where possible use water-soluble long wear mascaras but when you need to go waterproof (essential for beach and pool breaks) just be sure to check out the ingredients and remove with a good eye makeup remover.- Opt for smudge proof, lash-defining mascara. Sadly one of the symptoms of ageing eyes can be skin sagging this is when wearing mascara can be tricky as more often than not the mascara will smudge all around the eyes! By choosing a long-wear lash-defining mascara like ELES Lash Fortifying Mascara you’ll reduce any mascara fall out and every lash will be evenly coated and separated for that perfect natural look. What’s more the mascara is formulated with hydrolyzed keratin, panthenol, hyaluronic acid and vitamin e to strengthen, condition and protect lashes.- Mascara expires. When it does, throw it out and buy another, even if you think you’ve got a few more weeks or months in it! Every time you use your mascara you are pumping air into the wand, this creates bacteria. The average life of a mascara once used for the first time is 3 months. An expired mascara can (and will!) spark lash loss and lets face it you don’t need to be losing any more lashes!Don’t use an eye lash curler to curl your lashes, try this instead…You’ve been told to curl your lashes with an eyelash curler to create more volume and lift for your lashes, but this isn’t a good option as we get older. This is because as we age our lashes do too. It’s inevitable they will get weaker and thinner. Using an eyelash curler can create more damage than good and the curler can cause lashes to break. Instead a popular way to curl your lashes is by using a metal teaspoon. Press the spoon, concave side in, against your eyelid above your lashes. Now use your fingertip to press your eyelashes against the convex curve of the bottom of the spoon. Hold your lashes in place for 10 to 15 seconds and repeat in the corners. Or you can even use something as simple as your finger to curl your lashes! Simply close your eye and use your fingertip to gently push your upper eyelashes up against the top of your eyelid. Hold the eyelashes up for 30 seconds and then release them.Use a white eye pencil or waterline liner to brighten eyesAfter applying your eyeshadow and mascara, next line the inner rim of your lower lash line or waterline as it’s otherwise known with a white pencil or a nude waterline liner! (We recommend ELES’s Waterline liner). By doing so it’ll immediately open up your eyes as well as make the whites of your eyes look whiter (synonymous with younger looking eyes!)Don’t Rub Your Eyes! For itchy or irritated eyes try this insteadRubbing your eyes can cause wrinkles and dark circles. If you have itchy or irritated eyes, use a cold compress or eye drops to relieve the symptom. Applying slices of cucumbers is also a great idea! The cooling effect of the cucumber will relax the skin and alleviate any irritation or swelling around the eyes!Reduce Sun ExposureWe all know excessive exposure to the sun is the no.1 reason for skin ageing. But too much time soaking up those harmful rays can also result in premature wrinkles and age spots around the delicate eye area too. Make sure you’re always wearing sunglasses when outdoors to protect your peepers but also wear a hat and apply sunscreen too! You protect the rest of your skin, so don’t forgo the eye zone!Lay off the salt!Believe it or not, too much salt in your diet can affect your eyes and make them look older. Unfortunately, the delicate skin around your eyes is at higher risk of getting puffy the more salt you consume. Extra sodium unfortunately makes your body retain water. This excess water causes puffiness. Aghhh. So, try to ditch (ok maybe just cut down!) on those favourite foods (and drinks) of yours that are heavy on the salt.Stay HydratedWhen your body is dehydrated, your skin cells start to lose their plumpness. The skin around your eyes is already thinner than other parts of the body, so any reduction in plumpness in this area is visible relatively quickly. As a result, dehydration can cause your eye area to appear darker, discoloured, sunken, or hollow so you will look older than your years! By drinking plenty of water (aim for 8 glasses a day) you will help keep your skin hydrated and smooth, which can help reduce the appearance of those unwanted obvious wrinkles, fine lines and dark circles!. Remember water hydrates and plumps skin cells to make your skin look brighter, vibrant, and more youthful. It’s amazing stuff!Don’t go to sleep with your eye makeup onI’m sure we’ve all been guilty of skipping our evening cleansing routine once in a while because the idea of peeling ourselves off our bed just doesn’t feel like an option, but did you know just how bad this can be for your eyes? Not removing your makeup at night hinders the skin renewal process that takes place while you sleep. The days makeup and grime can clog the pores and trap dirt which can be damaging to your skin but you’re your delicate eye area. Mascaras make your lashes stiff; it’s part of its job. But leaving it on while you sleep will cause the stiffness to turn into dryness that can trigger lashes to break and soon result to lash fallouts! So instead opt for a good, gentle, easy-to-use eye makeup remover. We love Phytomer’s Doux Contour Eye and Lip Waterproof Makeup Remover as it simply melts away makeup and grime with minimum effort! Combining the effectiveness of an oil (a trio of oils in fact) and the gentleness of a lotion, this ultra-hydrating makeup remover, eradicates even the most stubborn eye makeup both gently and fast!Get Enough SleepNot getting enough sleep can cause your skin to look puffy and dull. Aim for 7-8 hours of sleep a night to ensure your skin looks fresh and youthful. With the right products and habits and by following these simple tips, you can keep eyes looking younger for longer without resorting to expensive treatments or surgery.

Mature skin? The best way to cover under eye dark circles

by Jo Boyden on Dec 09 2022
Eyes looking tired? Dark circles more apparent? Unfortunately as we age so do our eyes! In fact our eyes experience ageing before any other part of our face, so dark under-eye circles, puffy peepers and fine lines and wrinkles are a given. All is not lost though! By arming yourself with a few key products, familiarising yourself with a couple of simple makeup tricks, and following our step-by-step guide, you can both improve and cover under-eye dark circles and other signs of eye ageing, even for those of us with mature skin! Firstly why do we get dark under-eye circles as we age? As we get older, our skin becomes thinner. This is the result of a decrease in fat and collagen production (which maintains our skin’s elasticity) As this occurs, the dark blood vessels beneath our skin become more visible, causing the area below our eyes to darken. Dark under eye circles can also be the cause of lack of sleep (which unfortunately increases with age too!) as well as poor blood circulation and insufficient toxin drainage! What is the best way to improve and cover dark under-eye circles? Start by giving yourself a mini facial massage with a gemstone roller By doing so you’ll help improve circulation, remove toxins from the eye area significantly improving dark circles and bags under the eyes, reduce inflammation, refresh the skin and tone your face! In fact gemstone rollers offer a multitude of other benefits too to your skin too. Click here to find out more. Invest in a good eye cream or gel or both! For mornings when your eyes are feeling particularly puffy, reaching for a cooling eye gel will do wonders for reviving this delectate area while reducing puffiness. We love Pevonia’s C Evolutive Eye Gel, it’s a personal favourite of mine and highly recommended by the BC Pros. It’s a wonderful, cooling gel, formulated with anti-ageing dynamo Vitamin C, skin saviours’ hyaluronic acid and Ginkgo biloba, as well as green coffee and it’ll have your peepers decongested and depuffed in one swift application! Also use a tapping motion with your finger which you apply it. This can help get rid of any fluid that’s accumulated under the delicate eye area.  If it’s dark circles you appear to be constantly suffering from, we highly recommend Vie Collection’s Chrono Eyes Puffiness-Dark Circles Wrinkle Cream. It’s a mouthful to say, but a product that does exactly what it says! It’s a beautifully fine cream enriched with moisturising ingredients to nourish the eye area while reversing puffiness, dark circles, and wrinkles! Oh and it instantly brightens the eye area too! Use a primer under your eyes before applying makeup As you age your skin becomes more prone to fine lines around your eyes. You want to conceal them but it’s best to do so by using a primer first. This will help fill in any lines and make the skin appear smoother (essential if you want to prevent makeup falling into the creases and exacerbating signs of eye ageing!) Use your ring finger and gently dab your primer over the wrinkles to the sides of your eyes and spread. Invest in a good concealer When it comes to camouflaging dark under eye circles, a concealer is by far your best bet. A good undereye concealer can give you complete coverage as well as make you look bright-eyed in seconds! Choose a shade lighter than your natural skin tone (as this will help brighten the area) but also opt for a “peachy” tone as this will counteract the blueish tinge of the shadows. Try ELES Dual Action Concealer. my secret weapon for concealing my dark under eye circles and helping me look like I’ve had 8 hours of blissful slumber as opposed to only 5! Swipe it directly under the eye, but bring it down to a point on your cheek beside your nostril and fill in the entire area. Don’t forget to add a little illuminator and waterline liner to your eyes too!  Adding a little white eyeshadow (or pencil or illuminator) to the inner corner of your eyes, as well as waterline pencil to the waterline of your eyes, you’ll attract attention away from ageing eyes and create the illusion of younger, brighter, more wide awake eyes with one little dot of the finger!

Noticed your eyes looking particularly tired of late? Dark and puffy perhaps? Or have those fine line and wrinkles you fear really started to show but the idea of Botox and fillers isn’t for you? Unfortunately, the delicate skin around our eyes is one of the first areas to show signs of ageing, so it’s essential we give it the same level of TLC as the rest of our skin! Keep reading as we reveal 15 expert tips on how to look after our eyes and make them look younger naturally. 1. Start caring for your eyes from a young age Prevention is paramount we all know that and like with our skin you are never too young to start caring for your eyes. But fear not, just in case you’ve left it until now to really look after this most delicate area, there are still many things you can do to keep eyes looking younger so read on! 2. Give yourself a mini facial massage every day By doing so you’ll help improve circulation and calm the fluid build-up around your eye area. Try using a gemstone roller. As well as their many medicinal benefits, they can dramatically reduce puffiness by removing excess fluid around the eyes towards your lymph nodes where it filters out toxins! So clever! To find out more about gemstone rollers and their multitude of benefits click here. 3. Apply an eye cream morning and night You do not want to leave the skin around your eyes dry, ever! Applying an eye cream morning and night will not only ensure eyes are receiving the nourishment they require but will also help target signs of ageing and fatigue such as puffiness, under eye bags, lines and wrinkles. Look for products formulated with hyaluronic acid and shea butter for nourishment, vitamin c for brightening and caffeine which helps reduce swelling by constricting the blood vessels. Also use a tapping motion with your finger which you apply it. This can help get rid of any excess fluid that’s accumulated under the delicate eye area. In the morning opt for a cooling eye gel. Try Pevonia’s C Evolutive Eye Gel, it’s a personal favourite of mine and highly recommended by the BC Pros. It’s a wonderful, cooling gel, formulated with anti-ageing dynamo Vitamin C, skin saviours’ hyaluronic acid and Ginkgo biloba, as well as green coffee and it’ll have your peepers decongested and depuffed in one swift application! At night choose a nourishing eye cream like Vie Collection’s Chrono Eyes Puffiness-Dark Circles Wrinkles Cream. Yes, a mouthful to say, but a product that does exactly what it says. It’s a beautifully fine cream enriched with moisturising ingredients to nourish the eye area while reversing puffiness, dark circles, and wrinkles! Seriously! it gives immediate gratification thanks to a pearlescent finish that instantly brightens the eye area, and it has definitely calmed my puffiness, lightened my dark circles, and even smoothed my wrinkles! 4. Use a primer under your eyes before applying makeup As you age your skin becomes more prone to fine lines around your eyes. You want to conceal them but it’s best to do so by using a primer first. This will help fill in any lines and make the skin appear smoother (essential if you want to prevent makeup falling into the creases and exacerbating the appearance of the lines!) Use your ring finger and gentle dab your primer over the wrinkles to the sides of your eyes and spread. 5. Invest in a good concealer As well as becoming prone to fine lines and wrinkles, the delicate skin around our eyes becomes thinner with age too! This unfortunately makes it easier to see the blood vessels beneath you skin which is what causes the appearance of dark circles. It’s best to choose a concealer that is lighter than your foundation (this will help brighten your eyes) and one that is yellow based as this will counteract any purple or blue that you may have in your undereye thanks to the blood vessels. Use a concealer brush, beauty blender or your fingers to blend. Try ELES Dual Action Concealer. This anti-aging concealer actually helps to gradually improve skin’s texture while concealing those obvious under eye dark circles. Its moisturising formula provides continuous hydration as well as a natural longwearing finish meaning it lasts for hours without seeping into fine lines and wrinkles! 6. Line the outer edges of your upper lid to make your eyes look lifted Annoyingly as we get older the skin on our eyelids tends to droop too! By using an eyeliner on your top lash line from the middle to the outer corners with a tiny flick at the end (we are talking very subtle cats’ eye) will bring back the youthful shape to your eyes. Just be sure the line is thin as you want it to look natural and not over done! 7. Curl your lashes! While applying lashings of mascara to lashes will enhance your eyes, remember to curl your lashes first. This will open up your eyes for a wide-eyed look. While it might be a small step, it’s a subtle one that can make a big difference so don’t skip on it. Just be sure to apply two coats of mascara after curling. This will help lock the curl in place as well as add volume to your lashes. 8. Add definition and shape to your thinning eyebrows As you age your eyebrows get naturally thinner. By adding definition and shape to them you can completely transform your face and give the appearance of an instant eye lift! Start by brushing your eyebrows so the hairs are sitting naturally, then use a soft, waxy brow pencil like the ELES Precision Brow Pencil to shape and fill in your brows using short, hair-like strokes. Read more on how to create the perfect brows. 9. Reduce your sodium (salt!) intake Believe it or not, too much salt in your diet can affect your eyes and make them look older. Unfortunately, the delicate skin around your eyes is at higher risk of getting puffy the more salt you consume. Extra sodium unfortunately makes your body retain water. This excess water causes puffiness. Aghhh. So, try to ditch (ok maybe just cut down!) on the chips, takeaway and if you’re a fan like me, the margarita’s too! 10. Take a break from screen time We are all guilty of spending hours in front of our devices, but this excessive screen time can actually reap havoc with our precious peepers thanks to the blue light they omit! The thing is screens are a part of our daily lives so while it’s not possible to get rid of them, reducing the time spent in front of them or having breaks in between to rest our eyes can help dramatically. To learn more about blue light damage and how it affects your eyes, click here. 11. Apply cucumbers (and chamomile tea bags) to your eyes It’s no myth, by placing slices of cool cucumber over your closed eyelids for 5-10 minutes will help brighten and hydrate your eyes as well as reduce puffiness thanks to the Vitamin C and caffeic acid. While applying lukewarm chamomile tea bags directly on the eyelids will calm the skin and reduce inflammation. 12. As well as cucumbers, apply raw potato slices to your eyes! That’s right, applying slices of refrigerated potato to your eyes is another fantastic natural remedy to reduce undereye circles and puffiness. The enzymes and the astringent properties in the potatoes also help reduce inflammation as well as tighten the skin too. Genius! 13. Get enough shut eye Lack of sleep can affect our eyes, fact. Afterall who hasn’t woken up with saggy, puffy eyes of a morning when they haven’t had enough sleep? Sleep helps the body renew and repair itself and allows your eyes to rest, while letting that eye cream you’ve applied before bed work its magic! So, it’s time to make sleep a priority. I know easier said than done for some, but I also know myself that I need to practice what I preach, and if I wanted to, I could put down that book or turn off the tv or close my laptop an hour before I actually do each night! 14. Wear sunglasses religiously After all, you want to protect those sensitive peepers of yours as much as possible and we all know the sun is THE no. 1 cause of premature ageing!

Why you’ll want to invest in these two home beauty devices

by Jo Boyden on Feb 17 2022
I’m sure we all have those beauty tools we can’t live without, from eyebrow tweezers and eyelash curlers to our beloved blush brush, after all, they help enhance our everyday look! But, in recent years, these tools of the trade have extended to a new craze – skincare devices – electrically powered gadgets meant to benefit your skin, we’re talking mechanical exfoliators, facial massagers, rotating makeup brushes, and more…but with so many now on the market it’s hard to know what is right and what’s just marketing hype! Some can be total scams, others can unfortunately cause damage to our skin (I’ve tried a few in my time!) but natural devices like gemstone rollers, and cleansing brushes such as Beauty Collective’s Sonic Facial Cleansing Brush are winners, and I am here to tell you why! Gemstone Facial RollersWhile there is nothing quite like indulging in a facial at your favourite salon or spa, with the abundance of beauty products for every skin type and this little massage miracle you can now master the perfect at-home facial yourself! What are Gemstone Facial Rollers? In layman's terms, a gemstone roller is a beauty tool that has a polished, rounded semi-precious stone attached to one end (as a roller) and is for use on your face. The roller can come in a range of gemstones including, amethyst, obsidian, rose quartz, jade and more. Why you’ll want to get your hands on oneThese little massage beauty’s (also touted as an “anti-ageing tool”) offer a multitude of benefits for the skin when used regularly and correctly. They can help fight wrinkles, stimulate collagen production, tighten skin and pores, increase blood circulation to the face, clear toxins, decrease puffiness under the eyes and around the face, and potentially improve inflammatory skin conditions. They even have the ability to release tension and are soo soothing and calming on the skin. Unfortunately, there is no one size fits all though, with a range of gemstone options, it’s important to look at their individual properties and benefits to best suit your skin’s needs. To find out more click there. When and how to use itBefore you reach for your roller, cleanse and then prep your skin applying your serums and oils. Just be sure not to rub it in completely so that the jade roller can get to work – simply roll outwards and slightly upwards on your face and neck. This is a great treatment to do with a serum or as a final step with your facial oil. Sonic Facial Cleansing BrushFor your best skin yet (we are talking cleaner, clearer, more radiant) you’ll want to get your hands on one of these beauties. What are Facial Cleansing Brushes? They are electronic or motorized facial brushes that act as a mini facial for our skin! Used in unison with your cleanser they provide skin with deeper cleaning and a more radiant complexion. Why you’ll want to get your hands on oneWe all know about the importance of cleansing, but with this little genius gadget you can get your deepest clean yet as gentle but powerful sonic massage works with ultra-hygienic silicone touchpoints and your chosen cleanser to thoroughly remove any build-up of dead skin cells, dirt, oil and sweat, preventing skin problems and resulting in clean & radiant skin, But that’s not all! It preps your skin perfectly for the absorption of your favourite skincare products for maximum effect and results, the tiny pulses help awaken the skin by stimulating the circulation of blood in the skin’s layers (when the blood is stimulated more oxygen is produced in the blood and this feeds the skin cells) and the cleansing brush will aid in keeping your pores clear from debris banishing breakouts! It also features a reverse side massage mode which can be used with your favourite concentrates and serums for deeper absorption of actives. When and how to use itDon’t know how to use it? All it takes is 2 minutes per day. Simply apply your favourite cleanser as normal and then use the Sonic Facial Cleansing Brush to massage all over the face. It should not be used however with any cleansers containing acids or granulated scrubs as this will damage the silicone touchpoints and potentially your skin too. The brush has multiple speeds though and is suitable for even the most sensitive skins.

Caffeine in skincare? The benefits and the products you’ll want to try

by Jo Boyden on Jan 28 2022
If you are a lover of a morning coffee or are from a tea drinking family like me, you’ll be very familiar with your caffeine and how it helps get you through the day! But are you also familiar with how this hero ingredient (we’re talking green tea, black tea, coffee, green coffee and more) is present in many skin and body products too and for very good reason!Yup that’s right caffeine-infused skin and body care is a thing and has been for a number of years now. But why has caffeine in products become increasingly popular? We are here to unveil the 5 benefits and also the products formulated with caffeine that we are digging right now. It reduces redness Caffeine is a vasoconstrictor, meaning it constricts small blood vessels and improves circulation which in turn helps reduce redness. Therefore, it’s an important ingredient in skincare for those suffering from rosacea or facial redness. It brightens the skin Just like its ability to ‘brighten your spirits!” Caffeine has the ability to brighten your skin too! Much like Vitamin C, it is packed with antioxidant properties, known to aid skin cells, neutralise free radicals and brighten your complexion. Decreases puffiness Caffeine is a great topical ingredient to improve puffiness and improve circulation in skin. Just as caffeine constricts blood vessels, reducing redness and facial flushing, it can also help decrease inflammation and puffiness. It can help reduce the appearance of cellulite Caffeine is the prime ingredient in many slimming and cellulite creams. This is because it has the ability to draw water out of fatty cells, and increase blood flow, stimulating the removal of fatty acid from the fatty layer of skin and in turn diminishing the appearance of cellulite. It has powerful anti-ageing benefits Caffeine is loaded with powerful antioxidants and when applied topically to your skin, the antioxidants attack free radicals generated from pollution and UV rays, providing temporary protection from premature aging. Free radicals are one of the main causes for fine lines and wrinkles as well as loss of elasticity in your skin. Our caffeine packed product favourites; One of BC’s biggest sellers year on year is the Pevonia RS2 Care Cream. Formulated with Green Tea, Licorice, and Chamomile, it’s a uniquely textured cream which provides your skin vaso-constricting, repairing, and hydrating benefits! Skin is visibly calmed, soothed, and completely decongested.Another firm favourite it Pevonia’s Lumafirm Repair Cream - lift and glow. This powerhouse cream works deeply and quickly, infusing your face, neck and décolleté with the best anti-free radicles, the latest generation of repairing peptides, and outstanding lightening actives for visible radiance.Believe it or not some makeup products are also formulated with caffeine! We love ELES Dual Action Concealer. Formulated with a multitude of skin loving ingredients including vitamin C, vitamin e and caffeine, this anti-aging concealer helps to gradually improve skin's texture while neutralizing dark circles and under eye puffiness. Eyes look beautifully refreshed and radiant. Its medium coverage formula provides continuous hydration and a natural longwearing finish. For the ultimate body product this summer, we are loving Pevonia’s Crepe-No-More Body Cream! It does it all! Softens, smooths, firms, tightens, slims and brightens skin! And not only is it rich in caffeine, it is also formulated with anti-ageing powerhouses hyaluronic acid and marine collagen, combined with longan-fruit extract, shea butter and squalane for intense moisturising to dry, ageing and crepey skin. It’s outstanding! As mentioned, caffeine is one of the prime ingredients in slimming and cellulite products and Pevonia’s Smooth & Tone Body Svelt Gel is no exception. Rich in Green Coffee and Seaweed this smoothing gel detoxifies and tones skin by boosting circulation while stimulating your body to perform a natural fat-splitting function: lipolysis. This proven-effective, microemulsified cream works to dramatically improve your skin’s overall texture.
Beauty Collective - 7 steps bright eyes

7 steps to bright, wide-awake eyes

by Jo Boyden on Oct 08 2021
If you've had a late night recently, or many like me! your eyes are likely to give it away. The constant late nights I’ve been pulling to play catch up on the work I’ve missed in the day because #homeschooling have my eyes looking forever tired in the mornings. I’m talking the whole shebang. Puffy and red with dark under eye circles. Eek. However, just because I’m not getting enough shut-eye of a night doesn’t mean I’m stuck with this look by day! Luckily with the right products and a few makeup tricks, it’s possible to transform tired peepers to bright, wide awake eyes no matter how exhausted you feel! All you need to do is follow a few simple steps; Use a good depuffing eye gel or creamNever underestimate the power of a good eye gel! It can feel like heaven on your tired, puffy peepers, but more importantly, it has the ability to transform eyes in a matter of minutes. Tired eyes tend to look smaller, especially if the area beneath them is puffy. You can look more awake by applying a good eye gel or cream designed to de-puff your undereye area.Look for products that contain vitamin c for brightening and caffeine which helps reduce swelling by constricting the blood vessels. Also use a tapping motion with your finger which you apply it. This can help get rid of any fluid that’s accumulated under the delicate eye area. Pevonia’s C Evolutive Eye Gel is a personal favourite of mine. It’s a wonderful, cooling gel, formulated with anti-ageing dynamo Vitamin C, skin saviours hyaluronic acid and Ginkgo biloba, as well as green coffee and it’ll have your peepers decongested and depuffed in one swift application! If you are also battling dark, undereye circles we LOVE Vie Collection’s Chrono Eyes Puffiness-Dark Circles Wrinkles Cream. Invest in a gemstone rollerFrom rejuvenating jade to calm and soothing rose quartz, detoxifying Obsidian to purifying amethyst, we highly recommend introducing a gemstone roller into your morning ritual. As well as their many medicinal benefits, they can dramatically reduce puffiness by removing excess fluid around the eyes towards your lymph nodes where it filters out toxins! So clever! To find out more about gemstone rollers and their multitude of benefits click here. Use a colour-correcting concealerWhen it comes to camouflaging dark circle under eye circles, a concealer is by far your best bet. A good undereye concealer can give you complete coverage as well as make you look bright-eyed in seconds! Choose a shade that’s lighter than your natural skin tone as this will help brighten the area so you look like you’ve had plenty of sleep. For the most brightening effect, apply your concealer in a “V” or upside-down triangle shape beneath your eye. Swipe it directly under the eye, but bring it down to a point on your cheek beside your nostril and fill in the entire area. Blend well with a small makeup brush and then finish with a powder to set the concealer so it doesn’t crease.ELES’s Mineral Phototouch Concealer is my secret weapon for concealing my dark under eye circles, and helping me look like I’ve had 8 hours of blissful slumber as opposed to only 5! It’s formulated with Hyaluronic, Squalane, Vitamins A, C & E as well as light-reflective minerals and line filing micro-spheres to camouflage flaws, dark circles, blemishes and fine lines! And for the month of October when you purchase the ELES Mineral Phototouch concealer you get a small concealer brush for free - the ultimate duo for camouflaging dark under eye circles. Highlight corner of eyesAdd a little bit of white eye shadow to the inner corner of your eye. This quick trick can make eyes look wide awake and bright with one little dot of the finger. Equally apply with a small makeup brush.Use a white eyeliner or waterliner pencilTo make your eyes appear instantly wider, invest in a nude waterliner pencil, I promise you you’ll never look back. Simply apply your normal eyeliner (although don’t make the mistake I used to by applying black liner all around your eyes - top and bottom as well as your waterline - as this will only make your eyes appear so much smaller than they are!) then apply your waterliner to the inner rim of your lower lash line. (I use ELES’s Waterline liner). By doing so it’ll immediately open up your eyes as well as make the whites of your eyes look whiter. It works a treat! Curl Those LashesWhile applying lashings of mascara to lashes will enhance your eyes, remember to curl your lashes first. This will open up your eyes for a wide, doe-eyed look. While it might be a small step, it’s a subtle one that can make a big difference so don’t skip on it.Just be sure to apply two coats of mascara after curling. This will help lock the curl in place as well as add volume to your lashes. Pay attention to your browsAdding definition and shape to your eyebrows can completely transform your face and give the appearance of an instant eye lift….really! Start by brushing your eyebrows so the hairs are sitting naturally, then use a soft, waxy brow pencil like the ELES Precision Brow Pencil to shape and fill in your brows using short, hair-like strokes. Next define and ‘lift’ brows by using a white eyeliner as a brow highlighter. Line below and above your eyebrows and smudge it out with a sponge or fingertip. You can also opt to use a highlighter if you don’t have a white liner on hand. Read more on how to create the perfect brows.

You’ve not experienced glowing skin until you’ve tried this

by Jo Boyden on Mar 23 2021
Just as we are told to keep up our daily intake of fresh fruit and veggies, thanks to the multitude of vitamins they contain, it’s equally as important to apply vitamins topically to our skin for optimum skin health. While vitamin E helps increase nutrient levels and inflammation and vitamin A is a real wrinkle fighter, it is wonder ingredient - vitamin C that receives all the beauty buzz and for very good reason.Recommended by every beauty expert as a go-to ingredient in your beauty arsenal, this notorious glow-getter not only radially brightens skin, lessening hyperpigmentation, it also increases collagen production (which diminishes with age) and protects skin against pollution and sun damage by effectively neutralising free radicals (which can wreak havoc by harming healthy skin cells as well as promoting premature ageing – we are talking fine lines, wrinkles, dark spots and more…eek!)So if you suffer from hyperpigmentation or your skin is literally lacking life and needs some serious brightening, vitamin c should be your go-to. Looking tired? 8 beauty tricks to fake a good night’s sleep

by Jo Boyden on Feb 10 2021
Holidays are over, schools are back and the daily juggle of work, kids, well life, in general has you once again looking like you haven’t slept for days. Fear not, while 9 hours of blissful slumber might be something of yesteryear you can fake a seriously good night's sleep if you are armed with a few key products! So read on to learn about our top beauty tips that’ll have you looking fabulously fresh in next to no time and with minimal effort….we promise! Breath life back into tired eyes First things first, after cleansing your skin, applying a soothing and cooling eye gel immediately to your undereye area is a must. Just look for products with key ingredients such as Green coffee, Vitamin C and Ginko Biloba, as they will help shrink capillaries and stimulate lymphatic drainage.Pevonia’s C Evolutive Eye Gel is a personal favourite of mine when it comes to tired, puffy eyes. Formulated with anti-ageing dynamo Vitamin C and skin saviours hyaluronic acid and Ginko biloba it’ll have your peepers decongested and depuffed in one swift application! Invest in a gemstone roller From rejuvenating jade to calm and soothing rose quartz, detoxifying Obsidian to purifying amethyst, we highly recommend introducing one of these rollers into your morning ritual. As well as their many medicinal benefits, they have the ability to dramatically reduce puffiness by removing excess fluid around the eyes towards your lymph nodes where it filters out toxins! So clever! To find out more click here. Use a collagen-boosting serum Lack of sleep has the ability to cause your body to produce the stress hormone cortisol which in turn breaks down collagen and leads to premature ageing (great!) so make sure you start your morning skincare routine armed with a collagen-boosting serum AND moisturiser to nourish and restore stressed and dehydrated skin.Pevonia’s best-selling Age Correction Intensifier Collagen and MyOxy Caviar and Marine Collagen Cream are both a must. Not only are they loved by so many around the world, but they have also been a staple of mine for years and I’d highly recommend the duo to everyone. Used in unison they effectively nourish and oxygenate skin, repair cells, and diminish fine lines and wrinkles. You can thank me later. Be armed with a good concealer With exhaustion comes black undereye circles and red bloodshot eyes so you need to reduce the darkness and brighten the area at the same time. The best way to do this is arm yourself with a really good concealer specifically for the delicate eye area. Simply dot the concealer using your pinky finger (the warmth of your fingers will help the concealer to melt into your skin creating a smooth, natural application). My go-to concealer is the ELES Dual Action Concealer. Its an anti-ageing wonder rich in Vitamins E & C, caffeine, collagen, hyaluronic acid and Tetrapeptide 5 which works to depuff, smooth, brighten and conceal the eyes, neutralizing dark circles. Its moisturising formula also provides continuous hydration as well as a natural longwearing finish meaning it lasts for hours without seeping into fine lines and wrinkles! Bonus! Line the eyes with nude You do not want to exacerbate the look of blood shot eyes, so steer clear of lining eyes with dark eyeliners especially on the bottom lash line. Instead transform tired eyes by applying a white or nude liner to the bottom lash line AKA your waterline. Here at BC, we love the ELES Waterline liner. Using a white or nude eyeliner extends the whites of your eyes making them look bigger and in turn more awake. Don’t forget your eyeshadow You’ve lined your eyes with a good waterliner pencil but another true hero to creating wide-awake eyes is eyeshadow! A nude shadow palette with just a few shades will be your new best friend. Check out the new ELES Naturals Collection Eyeshadow Trios, with a choice of four palettes in gorgeous neutral shades there is an option to suit everyone.Start by applying the lightest shade (the white or nude) from your chosen palette over your entire lid all the way to the inner corner using a base shadow brush. You really need this light shadow as it’ll help open up your eyes and really make them ‘pop’. Next, use a tapered blending brush to apply the medium shade into your crease (the curve above your eyelid) blending from the outer corners inwards. Using the same brush, now apply the darkest shade to the outer corner of your eyelid. Applying this darker shadow slightly beyond your crease is the key to adding real dimension to your eyes. Bronze and blush for a healthy glow. We all know lack of sleep can have us looking a little on the pasty side even if we are donning a bit of a tan! To instantly enhance said pasty skin apply a good bronzer for that much-needed healthy look, as well as a little rouge blush on the apples of your cheeks. We love the ELES Baked Bronzer and Blushes. These super-fine powders are baked to a lightweight, silky and subtle pearl finish that imparts a brilliantly radiant glow. Add a little colour to your lips We might not all be a fan of the red lip all year round, but a little rouge lip colour to perk up pale lips will go a long way in transforming a tired, sallow complexion. If lipstick isn’t your thing, opt for a little gloss instead. I apply my ELES Colour Balm in Siren every single day. It combines the payoff of a sheer lipstick with the superior shine of a gloss. You won’t be disappointed! So go forth and try these top tips and enjoy never being told you look tired again!

What’s the deal with gemstone facial rollers? Understanding the benefits

by Jo Boyden on Dec 17 2020
In 2018 “jade rollers” became all the rage in the world of beauty, beloved by beauty bloggers and skincare experts alike. Fast forward a few years and a few developments and the latest trend to take centre stage is “gemstone rollers”, an array of facial rollers made of semi-precious stones including; amethyst, obsidian, rose quartz, jade and more. But what exactly is the benefit of these rollers? And will they really make a difference to your skin? The answer is yes and we are here to tell you how and why.Often touted as an “anti-aging tool, gemstone rollers offer a multitude of benefits which ultimately results in better skin when used regularly and correctly. Not only do they feel amazing on your face, but by rolling them across your cheeks, chin and forehead, you’ll slowly open up pathways, improving lymphatic flow, clearing toxins, decreasing puffiness, stimulating collagen production, reducing fine lines and more! They even have the ability to release tension which many people carry in their jaws!Adding a gemstone roller to your daily skincare routine will become your most soothing self-care ritual (you’ll be amazed at how calming it can make you feel) but sadly there is no one size fits all. Just as with crystals, each roller has its own specific advantages, so you need to look at the individual properties of the gemstone and go for the one(s) which calls to you the most! Jade Facial Roller Best for toning and defining skin Ideal for those concerned with wrinkles and loose skin, jade helps raise the immunity of the skin. It’s known for its ability to help tone and firm skin cells, stimulate collagen production, increase elasticity, calm puffiness and promote cell turn over! Physically, this crystal has more resistance on skin than rose quartz and amethyst, so while it’s not as silky and glass-like in texture, it is better for achieving firming and lifting results including smoothing wrinkles, sculpting muscle, and tightening loose skin. It’s best to use this roller in the morning since jade has a revitalising energy that helps skin to feel fresh and invigorated. Jade Facial Smooth and Textured Roller Best for toning, defining and rejuvenating skin Just as with its counterpart this roller is best for those wishing to tone and firm their skin. The two different roller ends pose their own benefits. The smooth end helps to aid in lymphatic drainage and reduce puffiness, while the textured end stimulates the blood circulation and helps increase oxygen in the skin cells and collagen in the dermis. Again, this roller is best used in the morning, since it has a revitalising energy that helps skin to feel fresh and invigorated. Rose Quartz Facial Roller Best for soothing and calming skin The ultimate beauty stone, known as the “crystal of Venus” (the goddess of love and beauty), Rose Quartz delivers inner healing and clears complexity. This ‘emotional healer’ is great for reducing and releasing impurities and stress in the skin. It’s best for detoxifying while soothing and calming sensitive skin. But also has great properties that increase circulation to the skin, promoting collagen production. Rose quartz also happens to have inherent minerals- silicium, magnesium, iron, sodium and oxygen - that skin can topically borrow and benefit from when rolling and thanks to the stone staying very cool it is ideal for those suffering from a sensitive or inflamed complexion.Obsidian Facial Roller Best for detoxifying and balancing skin Unlike the other stones, Black Obsidian naturally retains warmth and is great to use on congested, blemish prone skin. With consistent use it brings imbalances to the surface so that they can be released, this is because the warmth of the obsidian encourages stimulation of the lymphatic system and circulation. The Obsidian Facial Roller also helps to tighten pore and balance your skin tone and leaves skin feeling purified and refreshed. To warm our Black Obsidian Roller, we recommend placing it in a glass of warm water for a minute or two before use. Amethyst Facial Roller Best for purifying blemish-prone skin Amethysts are powerful and protective stones that have the ability to soothe away day-to-day stresses. They emit infrared rays which slightly raises skin temperature increasing circulation. This enables the body to produce cortisol which calms inflammation and redness and nourishes skin cells with oxygen and nutrients to keep them healthy and encourage regeneration. Thanks to its negative-charge, amethyst also draws out positively charged toxins and free radicals to cleanse and detoxify skin. These detoxifying powers mean that amethyst helps to prevent bacteria growth and tighten pores, so is recommended for blemish-prone skin. Now you’ve selected the gemstone roller or rollers that sound right for your skin's needs but how exactly do you use it now and how often? We recommend cleansing your skin first, then applying a small amount of a light oil or serum with the roller. Starting at the chin, use broad, long strokes horizontally to the hairline - you should apply slight pressure but not so that it is "pulling" your skin. For optimum results, you can use a roller everyday, but we would recommend using it after cleansing your face and neck. You can actually use it up to twice a day, but one should be plenty. If there is however a day where you feel like your skin is especially puffy, then morning and evening should work wonders! Finally, you need to remember to regularly clean your roller since it’s a facial tool and can easily spread bacteria. Ideally, it’s best to clean them with warm water and soap as you would any other beauty tool, pat try and then store in a clean, dry place. But for a more spiritual clean, you can wash the roller in salt water. Salt is considered cleansing and will help draw negative energies out of the roller so they don’t transfer back to your skin.

The thing is I’m already in the know that doing so can cause tiny blood vessels to break resulting in dark circles under my eyes, and yup I suffer most mornings from said dark circles and under eye bags. Ergh.My solution? Vie Collection’s Chrono Eyes Puffiness-Dark Circles Wrinkles Cream. Yes a mouthful to say, but a product that does exactly what it says. It’s a beautifully fine cream enriched with moisturising ingredients to nourish the eye area while reversing puffiness, dark circles, and wrinkles! Seriously!“This is a wonderful eye cream, it gives immediate gratification thanks to a pearlescent finish that instantly brightens the eye area and it has definitely calmed my puffiness, lightened my dark circles, and even smoothed my wrinkles! It’s truly a fabulous eye cream that is well worth the price tag.” Lisa M (BC customer) Pevonia MyOxy Caviar® Timeless Eye Contour Ok, so this is another great love of mine. We are talking luxury in a bottle. Optimum results but yes you’d want to expect that from the price tag. No jokes when I say this product, packed with anti-ageing eyecare goodies including; Marine Collagen Polypeptides; Caviar Extract; and Escutox® - the natural alternative to Botox - quite literally takes 10 years off your eyes. I’ve been using it for around 6 months now and have seen a noticeable decrease in wrinkles, plus it has smoothed the skin around my eye zone and reduces my puffiness daily too! “This product is really awesome! It erased the wrinkles around my eyes and gave them a brighter look.” Kylie O, BC Customer Pevonia C Evolutive Eye Gel If you prefer the feeling of a cooling eye gel to soothe and depuff your peepers, this product is the one for you. Oh and if that wasn’t enough it does help with lightening dark circles too!“This eye cream seems to do it all; takes care of dryness, puffiness and lines. My eyes seem to "pop" more than they were before using it. At 52 my eyes want to withdraw, but this cream brings them back out and you have to love that.” Vicky D, BC Customer ELES Dual Action Concealer This anti-aging concealer actually helps to gradually improve skin's texture while concealing those obvious under eye dark circles. Its moisturising formula provides continuous hydration as well as a natural longwearing finish meaning it lasts for hours without seeping into fine lines and wrinkles! “This concealer is perfection. It goes on smooth, doesn't crease, and covers dark circles completely. The concealer lasts forever because you don't need to use a lot to get full coverage.” Marwa Yates, BC Customer Gemstone Facial Rollers Jade rollers are all the trend right now thanks to the multitude of medicinal benefits they bring. But we’ve gone one step further! We’ve created 5 facial rollers all made from gemstones! From rejuvenating jade to calm and soothing rose quartz, detoxifying Obsidian to purifying amethyst. Introduce one of these into your daily soothing self-care ritual and reap the results. The roller will, not only help reduce the appearance of fine wrinkles around the eyes, if used correctly it can dramatically reduce puffiness by moving excess fluid around your eyes towards your lymph nodes where it filters out the toxins. Spending more time on multiple devices? The Best Eye creams for screen-tired eyes

by Jo Boyden on May 15 2020
Staring at a screen more than ever since #lockdown? Eyes looking tired? And dark circles more apparent? Increased time in front of your laptop and on your phone can reap havoc with your precious peepers, but why exactly is this and what can you do to help prevent it? Why does screen time impact our eyes? More time in front of multiple screens means an increase in our exposure to harmful high-energy blue light waves. Blue light, if you aren’t aware, is a colour in the “visible light” spectrum” that can be seen by, and therefore have an adverse effect on, our eyes. Spending just two consecutive hours on a digital device can cause eyestrain or fatigue while overexposure to this blue light also suppresses the release of melatonin, the hormone that regulates sleep, therefore disrupting our normal sleep pattern. And we all know poor sleep can lead to premature ageing, especially around the delicate eye area! What can you do to prevent it? There are multiple ways you can aid your eyes including, avoiding screen time an hour before bed, eating a well-rounded diet rich in anti-oxidant and fatty-acid foods and purchasing blue light filters, but if you really want to show them the love, introduce an eye cream into your beauty routine both morning and night. Eye creams are different to your daily moisturisers and serums as they are formulated with specific active ingredients to nurture and repair the fragile area around the eyes – the thinnest layer of skin on our entire bodies and up to 1/10 thinner than the rest of the skin on our face! Their main objective is to target specific eye concerns – crow’s feet, under eye bags and dark circles, delivering brightening and anti-ageing ingredients in a mild, gentle and safe dose. Here are 4 favourite eye creams to tackle your eye fatigue that are definitely worthy of your investment; Vie Collection Chrono Eyes Puffiness – Dark Circles Wrinkle Cream Enriched with the best nourishing ingredients including; encapsulated high molecular weight hyaluronic acid, Botox-like peptides, fatty acids, vitamin c and vitamin B3, this silky cream is inspired by eye-rejuvenating Botox and hyaluronic acid injections to effectively fight signs of ageing and fatigue. Suitable for everyone even those with sensitive eyes and contact lens wearers. “This is a wonderful eye cream, it gives immediate gratification thanks to a pearlescent finish that instantly brightens the eye area and it has definitely calmed my puffiness, lightened by dark circles and even smoothed my wrinkles! It’s truly a fabulous eye cream that is well worth the price tag”. Lisa M Phytomer Pionniere XMF Reset Eye Fluid Formulated with 2 specific biotechnological breakthrough ingredients, marine sugar Oligofurcellaran and blue micro alga, this light and fine eye fluid promises to restore youthful eye radiance in just seven days! From the first week dark circles and puffiness are less visible, eyelids are lifted and wrinkles start to fade. “Since using this product I have definitely seen results! It's been about a month now and I can honestly say I've noticed that the fine lines around my eyes have faded and my dark circles are so much less obvious. Amazing stuff!” Joanne W Phytomer Expertise Age Contour Youth Eye Cream This high performance cream formula corrects crow’s feet while firming up the eye’s contours. Anti-ageing ingredients including fatty acids and moisturising shea butter effectively smooth out wrinkles and brighten eyes while dark circles are lightened and puffiness reduced. Skin appears rejuvenated and younger with every use. “This eye cream seems to do it all; takes care of dryness, puffiness, and lines. My eyes seem to "pop" more than they were before using it. At 52 my eyes want to withdraw, but this cream brings them back out and you have to love that.” Vicky D Pevonia Evolutive Eye Cream This anti-ageing eye cream deeply nourishes and renews the delicate under eye area in multiple ways. Formulated with a powerful blend of anti-agers including hyaluronic acid, vitamin A and glycolic acid, it firms, smooths and hydrates dry, crepey skin. Highly recommend this cream!” Demi
Beauty Collective - Big Guns Anti-ageing

“Big Guns” skin care products

by Jo Boyden on Jun 03 2019
Just a few miles from the gorgeous Manly Beach in Sydney, our Beauty Collective Head Office is full of high-tech dermaceutical solutions, from powerful medical-based skin care to advanced cellulite products. And something you may not realise is that we are not just a retail supplier, we are one of Australia’s leading salon and spa suppliers and educators in the beauty industry. So what do our team use on their skin and why are some products the universal favourites with us and our clients? We share our “big guns” in the battle against skin ageing…Medicalia L-Retinol Smoothing CreamFormulated with Micro-Retinol® which works so much better than regular retinol, this fast-acting cream gives you astonishing visible results. It makes pores almost invisible, softens lines and wrinkles and fades hyperpigmentation. It uses Biomimetic technology, which is a fancy way of saying that it goes through a process that makes the formula almost identical to the oils and moisture produced by your skin, so it literally melts into the skin. Not a product to use year round as it has an exfoliating action and over-use can cause irritation, but perfect as a Winter treatment. Just use a small quantity each night (or alternate nights if you find it too stimulating) and enjoy smoother skin for months after.Phytomer Pioneer XMF CreamThere truly is no other cream on the market like this! It has won numerous International awards and is Phytomer’s No 1 seller. Often hailed as the professional version of Crème De La Mer. On the surface of the skin, it creates a biofilm for an instant smoothing effect and within the skin, it binds to the fibres in the dermis to densify them. Imagine your face is a cushion and this cream is the extra stuffing! We also are in love with the light silky texture of the cream, neither too rich or too light and the heavenly, soft aroma.Phytomer Celluli AttackHead and shoulders above the rest, this IS the best cellulite product on the market today. Most cellulite products use Green Coffee Extract to stimulate lipolysis (breakdown of fats), this formula uses Pepper Slimactiv which is 8 times stronger. And how is this for technology? Pepper Slimactiv is incorporated in a vectorized capsule that propels at high speed to the fat cells, avoiding any loss of ingredient on the way and is also combined with a signal peptide that enables it to exclusively target adipocytes and attack them with more power. Take that Cellulite! All you need to do is smooth it over cellulite areas, no need for massaging and within a month you begin to see results. We should probably point out that Phytomer has been the undisputable leader of cellulite treatment products in Europe since 1994!Vie Collection Chrono EyesNot sure about you but at Beauty Collective, we believe products should be multi-functional. So when we use an eye cream not only should it help prevent skin ageing it should also smooth fine lines, reduce dark circles and deal with unwanted eye puffiness. When this product came onto the market we switched over to it with no loyalty at all to our previously adored eye products. With a botox-like peptide to inhibit muscle action, low and high molecule hyaluronic which acts like a filler and vitamin C, B3 and Phytosterols to stimulate the circulation to deal with puffiness and dark circles can you really blame us? Now the top seller in the Vie Collection line here in Oz we feel sure we are not biased.Medicalia - Sunscreen SPF 30Last but certainly not least the biggest seller in our skin care arsenal is the Medicala Sunscreen. The MOST important anti-ageing product we should all be using is a broad spectrum (protects against both UVA and UVB rays) sunblock. We have discovered the only reason some don’t use sunblock despite knowing how important it is, is because they can’t stand the texture or smell. No more excuses, this feels like a lightweight moisturiser and smells divine. It won’t make your eyes water or cause itchiness and it’s loaded with anti-ageing goodies. Finally, it comes in a generous 150ml bottle! Very slightly tinted (though most of the tint disappears once it’s absorbed) it leaves your skin looking smoother and calmer. What’s not to love?
