We get it. If your skin ever feels a bit “meh” at the end of the day, this cleanser is the reset button you’ll love! It’s a soft, creamy foam that melts away makeup, pollution, and daily grime without stripping your skin (which we all know many cleansers can do!) It’s formulated with marine ingredients including Oligomer®, which delivers 100% pure seawater concentrate packed with 72 minerals and trace elements that remineralize and energise your skin while you cleanse! Think of it as a breath of fresh ocean air for your face! Leaving your complexion clean, soft, and beautifully refreshed. “This is an excellent cleanser for my skin that is normal to oily in the warmer summer months. It has a mild exfoliant in it, lactic acid, that helps keep my pores purified. I am very happy with it.” - Brianna RS2 Rosacea Gentle Cleanser If your skin freaks out at basically everything, you might have been one of the many to have this outstanding cleanser as your saviour this year. The RS2 range is specifically formulated for rosacea-prone and ultra-sensitive skin, and this cleanser is gentle enough for the most reactive complexions while still actually cleaning your face (a surprisingly rare combo!). The formula features chamomile and green tea extra to calm inflammation and reduce redness, while french rose oil nourishes without triggering sensitivity. What makes it brilliant is what's NOT in it—no harsh sulfates, no fragrance, no essential oils that can irritate delicate skin. It's just pure, gentle cleansing that respects your skin's compromised barrier while supporting its natural healing process. Customer reviews consistently mention how it's the first cleanser that doesn't make their skin angry, which is basically the dream for sensitive skin sufferers. “Amazing Cleanser! I’ve been using this for over a year now to relieve my severe Rosacea (pustules and dry red itchy skin across my nose and cheeks) can’t believe the difference in my skin I’ve tried so many different products this has been a game changer highly recommend anyone who has Rosacea ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️” - Linda Andrews  The gentle exfoliator Pevonia Gentle Exfoliating Cleanser This exfoliator is so brilliant and gentle, it’s the ultimate for all skin types! The exfoliator for people who thought they couldn't use exfoliators! It's a 2-in-1 that cleanses AND gently buffs away dead skin cells without any harsh scrubbing or irritation. The secret? Natural jojoba beads provide physical exfoliation (they're perfectly round so they won't create micro-tears like some scrubs) for that soft, supple smoothness! Chamomile, safflower seed oil, aloe and calendula keep things soothed, calm and hydrated, so you're never left with that tight, over-exfoliated feeling. Use it 1-3 times weekly (dependant on your needs) and watch your skin transform from dull and congested to smooth and glowing. It's been a consistent bestseller because it delivers professional-grade exfoliation results! “This is the BEST gentle exfoliator I have ever used. I have been using Pevonia for 5 years plus. I have sensitive skin and this exfoliator is perfect for my skin type. HIGHLY recommend.” - Annalisa Robinson  The serums Pevonia C Complexe with Oxyzomes This is one of those “if you know, you know” products, a cult favourite for a reason! The Oxyzomes technology is what sets this serum apart from the millions of others. Oxyzomes are specialized micro-carriers that deliver stabilized vitamin C deep into your skin while simultaneously boosting cellular oxygenation (hence the "oxy" in Oxyzomes). You're getting powerful brightening, collagen-boosting, and antioxidant protection without the irritation that plagues so many vitamin C formulas. The result? Brighter skin, improved firmness, and a noticeable boost in radiance. It’s also fantastic for protecting against environmental stressors, making it a must‑have for anyone serious about anti‑ageing and glow. Customers rave about how it brightens dark spots, evens skin tone, and gives that healthy, lit-from-within glow without any stinging or redness. “This serum has the ability to make my skin brighter and smoother as soon as I put it on and it just gets better and better the more I use it. I tend to have sensitive skin with it becoming drier during the cooler months. It’s formulated with marine-sourced vitamins and minerals including Oligomer® seawater complex that energizes tired, dull skin at the cellular level. What makes it special is how it manages to be lightweight and fast-absorbing while still delivering serious moisture and radiance. It's that rare day cream that works beautifully under makeup, never pills, and genuinely makes your skin look more awake and glowing. Perfect as an everyday moisturiser for normal to dehydrated skin that wants both comfort and glow in one step! “I am in love with this product, it’s become my go-to moisturiser this summer since it’s silky and light yet keeps my skin moisturised all day long! It has a lovely subtle scent, and the products name definitely reflects the results - it’s energising and radiance inducing that’s for sure!” – JoJo  Pevonia RS2 Rosacea Care Cream For anyone dealing with rosacea or chronic redness, this cream has been life-changing! It’s gentle, comforting, and ideal for daily use to keep sensitivity under control. What customers love most is that it doesn't just temporarily cover redness, it actually helps improve the condition over time by strengthening your skin's barrier and reducing overall reactivity. “AMAZING CREAM! I absolutely love RS2 Rosacea care cream. It's the only cream my face loves & does not break out in rashes since I've hit the post menopause aga. It's so hydrating & id be lost without this face cream 🩵” – Cherie Christie The eye cream Vie Collection Chrono Eyes Puffiness – Dark Circles Wrinkle Cream  This eye cream is for people who want it all: less puffiness, softer lines and brighter under-eyes. It combines peptides, hyaluronic acid, vitamin c and niacinamide to target dark circles, bags and early wrinkles in one go. The formula helps smooth and firm the delicate eye contour while improving microcirculation, so eyes look more open and awake. The texture is rich but never heavy or greasy (crucial for eye products that need to work under concealer), and it absorbs quickly without causing milia or puffiness. People report visible improvements in all three concerns, less morning puffiness, brighter under-eyes, and smoother texture around the orbital area. It’s basically eight hours of sleep and a good concealer’s best friend, minus the makeup!! “This is a wonderful eye cream, it gives immediate gratification thanks to a pearlescent finish that instantly brightens the eye area and it has definitely calmed my puffiness, lightened by dark circles and even smoothed my wrinkles! It’s truly a fabulous eye cream that is well worth the price tag.” – Lisa M The sunscreen Medicalia Sunscreen SPF 40 with Blue Light Shield This sunscreen has been an absolute phenomenon, and it's because it addresses a concern most sunscreens ignore, blue light from screens. Yes, your phone and computer are ageing your skin, and this sunscreen is specifically formulated to protect against it. Beyond the blue light shield, it's just a brilliant daily SPF, lightweight, tinted (so no white cast ever), hypoallergenic, reef-safe, and packed with natural SPF (Zinc Oxide & Titanium Dioxide), hyaluronic acid, aloe vera and antioxidants like vitamin E and green tea. The subtle tint evens your skin tone enough that many people skip foundation entirely and just use this as their base. It's non-comedogenic, absorbs instantly, works beautifully under makeup, and genuinely doesn't feel like sunscreen. For anyone working from home or spending hours on devices (so, everyone), this has become the non-negotiable daily SPF. The 150ml size means it lasts forever, making the cost-per-use incredibly reasonable for the protection you're getting. “Love this product it gives all day sun protection doesn’t mark clothing and gives my skin a healthy glow I’m hooked!” – Jan Carlisle The multi-tasking foundation, primer and sunscreen in one! ELES Blue Light Radiant BB Cream 30 Speaking of blue light protection, this BB cream takes it a step further by combining SPF 20, blue light defence, AND buildable coverage with genuine skincare benefits. It's basically foundation, sunscreen and primer in one elegant tube. The formula contains hyaluronic acid for hydration, peptides for anti-ageing and vitamins A, C & E for antioxidant protection. Retinol vs Bakuchiol: Which is best for your skin?

Retinol vs Bakuchiol: Which is best for your skin?

by Jo Boyden on Dec 05 2025
We’ve all heard about retinol, the go-to ingredient when it comes to anti-ageing skincare, but lately bakuchiol has been stealing the spotlight as retinol’s natural alternative! An ingredient that delivers similar results but without any irritation. If you haven’t tried either, you might be wondering which is the better option for your skin, that’s why we are here to help! Keep reading for your guide to understanding both, plus the easy 3 step routines to help you get glowing, youthful skin with whichever ingredient you choose.   So what is retinol and what can retinol do for your skin? Retinol is the OG when it comes to anti-ageing! It's a vitamin A derivative that speeds up cell turnover, smooths fine lines, boosts collagen, unclogs pores, and evens tone like nothing else! Sounds amazing right? It really is! but with one downside. Unfortunately, retinol is strong and can irritate skin, causing redness or peeling at first. This does not mean you should never give it a try though! You just need to be sure to start slow, use at night, and always pair with SPF during the day!   Your 3-step retinol routine 1. Cleanser: Pevonia Micro Retinol Essential Foaming CleanserThis gentle, yet powerful foaming cleanser preps skin with a dose of retinol to remove impurities without stripping. Formulated with Hyaluronic Acid and Vitamin C it hydrates and brightens skin too! It's perfect for evening out texture right from the cleanse. 2. Serum: Pevonia Micro Retinol Essential SerumThis potent yet lightweight anti-ageing serum delivers targeted Micro-Retinol, hyarlouronic acid and vitamin c deep into the skin to boost collagen, accelerate cell turnover, refine pores and firm, and brighten skin! Pat it on after cleansing for deep, overnight renewal. 3. Moisturiser: Pevonia Micro Retinol MoisturiserSeal your serum in with this rich yet non-greasy cream formulated with Micro Retinol, hyaluronic acid, vitamin C and marine collagen to deeply hydrate skin while amplifying retinol's benefits. You’re wake up to plumper, glowier skin! And over time you’ll see a significant decrease in appearance of fine lines and wrinkles too! Want all 3 products at a more affordable price? Why not indulge in the Pevonia Micro Retinol Skin Refining Gift Box which comes complete with the cleanser and matching toner, both for FREE, so all you need to pay for is the serum and moisturiser! Yes!   Bakuchiol, retinol’s gentler alternative Derived from the Psoralea corylifolia (Babchi) plant, bakuchio has been gaining serious attention for its ability to mimic the effects of retinol, without the irritation! Like with retinol, bakuchiol boosts collagen production to effectively reduce line lines and wrinkles, it also fights hyperpigmentation for a more even skin tone and provides antioxidant protection supporting a healthy skin barrier. What makes it great for sensitive skin types though is it’s gentle and non-irritating! Unlike retinol, bakuchiol doesn’t increase sun sensitivity, meaning you can use it morning and night without worrying about extra SPF protection (though SPF is always a must in the mornings of course!). It really is the ideal solution for sensitive skin or anyone looking for a gentler alternative.   Your 3-step bakuchiol routine 1. Cleanser: Naturys Anti-Age Cleansing Gel Oil This silk-like gel-oil cleanser melts away makeup, sunscreen and impurities while nourishing the skin. Infused with bakuchiol and peptides, it gently refines skin and perfectly preps for the next steps.  It really is ideal for sensitive complexions! 2. Moisturiser: Naturys Anti-Age No Age Fluid Cream Lightweight yet deeply hydrating, this cream delivers bakuchiol, peptiedes and hyaluronic acid deep into the skin for a smoother, firmer, more luminous complexion. 3. Eye Cream: Naturys Anti-Age Well Ageing Eye Contour Cream A gentle but effective eye treatment that revitalises fine lines, dullness, and early signs of ageing around the eyes without any irritation or stinging. It’s the perfect eye cream for delicate skin. Retinol or Bakuchiol - which should you choose? You really can’t go wrong with either! It’s less about which one is “better” and more about which one fits your skin’s needs. If you’re someone who wants visible results quickly and your skin can handle a bit of intensity, retinol is a brilliant choice. It’s tried, tested and proven to work. Prefer something soothing, natural, pregnancy-friendly and gentle enough for everyday use? Bakuchiol is a fantastic alternative. You’ll still see improvements in firmness, smoothness and radiance, just without the risk of irritation. A lot of people even use both! Bakuchiol in the morning for antioxidant support, and retinol at night for rejuvenation. It’s a great way to balance results and tolerance!

Mature skin? The best way to cover under eye dark circles

by Jo Boyden on Dec 09 2022
Eyes looking tired? Dark circles more apparent? Unfortunately as we age so do our eyes! In fact our eyes experience ageing before any other part of our face, so dark under-eye circles, puffy peepers and fine lines and wrinkles are a given. All is not lost though! By arming yourself with a few key products, familiarising yourself with a couple of simple makeup tricks, and following our step-by-step guide, you can both improve and cover under-eye dark circles and other signs of eye ageing, even for those of us with mature skin! Firstly why do we get dark under-eye circles as we age? As we get older, our skin becomes thinner. This is the result of a decrease in fat and collagen production (which maintains our skin’s elasticity) As this occurs, the dark blood vessels beneath our skin become more visible, causing the area below our eyes to darken. Dark under eye circles can also be the cause of lack of sleep (which unfortunately increases with age too!) as well as poor blood circulation and insufficient toxin drainage! What is the best way to improve and cover dark under-eye circles? Start by giving yourself a mini facial massage with a gemstone roller By doing so you’ll help improve circulation, remove toxins from the eye area significantly improving dark circles and bags under the eyes, reduce inflammation, refresh the skin and tone your face! In fact gemstone rollers offer a multitude of other benefits too to your skin too. Click here to find out more. Invest in a good eye cream or gel or both! For mornings when your eyes are feeling particularly puffy, reaching for a cooling eye gel will do wonders for reviving this delectate area while reducing puffiness. We love Pevonia’s C Evolutive Eye Gel, it’s a personal favourite of mine and highly recommended by the BC Pros. It’s a wonderful, cooling gel, formulated with anti-ageing dynamo Vitamin C, skin saviours’ hyaluronic acid and Ginkgo biloba, as well as green coffee and it’ll have your peepers decongested and depuffed in one swift application! Also use a tapping motion with your finger which you apply it. This can help get rid of any fluid that’s accumulated under the delicate eye area.  If it’s dark circles you appear to be constantly suffering from, we highly recommend Vie Collection’s Chrono Eyes Puffiness-Dark Circles Wrinkle Cream. It’s a mouthful to say, but a product that does exactly what it says! It’s a beautifully fine cream enriched with moisturising ingredients to nourish the eye area while reversing puffiness, dark circles, and wrinkles! Oh and it instantly brightens the eye area too! Use a primer under your eyes before applying makeup As you age your skin becomes more prone to fine lines around your eyes. You want to conceal them but it’s best to do so by using a primer first. This will help fill in any lines and make the skin appear smoother (essential if you want to prevent makeup falling into the creases and exacerbating signs of eye ageing!) Use your ring finger and gently dab your primer over the wrinkles to the sides of your eyes and spread. Invest in a good concealer When it comes to camouflaging dark under eye circles, a concealer is by far your best bet. A good undereye concealer can give you complete coverage as well as make you look bright-eyed in seconds! Choose a shade lighter than your natural skin tone (as this will help brighten the area) but also opt for a “peachy” tone as this will counteract the blueish tinge of the shadows. Try ELES Dual Action Concealer. my secret weapon for concealing my dark under eye circles and helping me look like I’ve had 8 hours of blissful slumber as opposed to only 5! It’s formulated with a myriad of anti-ageing wonder ingredients including Hyaluronic acid, Caffeine, Vitamins C & E, Collagen and more! And it actually helps to gradually improve skin’s texture while concealing those obvious under eye dark circles. Its moisturising formula provides continuous hydration as well as a natural longwearing finish meaning it lasts for hours without seeping into fine lines and wrinkles! It’s seriously good stuff. Simply apply with a small concealer brush and then finish with a powder to set the concealer so it doesn’t crease. For the most brightening effect, apply your concealer in a “V” or upside-down triangle shape beneath your eye. Swipe it directly under the eye, but bring it down to a point on your cheek beside your nostril and fill in the entire area. Don’t forget to add a little illuminator and waterline liner to your eyes too!  Adding a little white eyeshadow (or pencil or illuminator) to the inner corner of your eyes, as well as waterline pencil to the waterline of your eyes, you’ll attract attention away from ageing eyes and create the illusion of younger, brighter, more wide awake eyes with one little dot of the finger!
Which order should you apply your skincare?

Which order should you apply your skincare?

by Jo Boyden on Nov 24 2022
With the ever-growing number of lotions and potions on the market from cleansers to toners, serums to oils, day to night creams and more, it’s no wonder there is confusion around which products are really necessary for our skin, let alone which order you should apply your skincare! Here’s the thing, we all have unique skin needs, dependant on our skin type and concern, so it’s important to create our own skincare ‘cocktail’ based on these specific needs! But if we use the wrong products (not everyone for example can tolerate AHA’s), pair two products together that are formulated with ingredients that don’t ‘gel’, or do not wear our skincare in the correct order, we just won’t see the results we are hoping for, or worse could wind up with blotchy, irritated skin instead. Eek.So to save time, stress and money! We have detailed below the exact order you should apply your skincare so you can get the most out of it! Along with what products and ingredients to use for your skin type and concern too! Cleanser Toner Serum Eye Cream Treatment (eg. Spot) Moisturiser Sunscreen (day) Face Oil (night) Step 1: CLEANSERCleansing daily is essential for skin health and the first step to layering skincare like a pro for optimum results. And despite conflicting views cleansing twice daily is imperative.Firstly, you need to cleanse at night to remove the days dirt, makeup and impurities. Then again in the morning to remove any excess oil and dead cells that are likely to have accumulated on your skin overnight. Without cleansing, your skin will be more prone to breakouts, dehydration, and premature aging. And remember you need a clean, oil and grime free face for all your skincare ingredients to properly absorb into your skin!At night opt for a cleansing oil that literally dissolves makeup (including waterproof!) without stripping your skin then follow with a gentle, creamy cleaner (which you should use in the morning too). For more information on cleansing and how it will improve your skin tenfold click here.Try;ELES Transformation Cleansing Oil - ideal for all skin types it will literally melt away makeup and impurities while maintaining a balanced, hydrated and smoothed complexion.Phytomer Perfect Visage Gentle Cleansing Milk – If you love milky cleansers this is your one! Serums actually tend to perform above and beyond many regular skincare products because they are formulated with a higher concentration of targeted active ingredients and have the ability to penetrate deeper into the dermis. Want younger looking eyes? 14 tips from the BC Pros

by Jo Boyden on Aug 05 2022
Noticed your eyes looking particularly tired of late? Dark and puffy perhaps? Or have those fine line and wrinkles you fear really started to show but the idea of Botox and fillers isn’t for you? Unfortunately, the delicate skin around our eyes is one of the first areas to show signs of ageing, so it’s essential we give it the same level of TLC as the rest of our skin! Keep reading as we reveal 15 expert tips on how to look after our eyes and make them look younger naturally. 1. Start caring for your eyes from a young age Prevention is paramount we all know that and like with our skin you are never too young to start caring for your eyes. But fear not, just in case you’ve left it until now to really look after this most delicate area, there are still many things you can do to keep eyes looking younger so read on! 2. Give yourself a mini facial massage every day By doing so you’ll help improve circulation and calm the fluid build-up around your eye area. Try using a gemstone roller. As well as their many medicinal benefits, they can dramatically reduce puffiness by removing excess fluid around the eyes towards your lymph nodes where it filters out toxins! So clever! To find out more about gemstone rollers and their multitude of benefits click here. 3. Apply an eye cream morning and night You do not want to leave the skin around your eyes dry, ever! Applying an eye cream morning and night will not only ensure eyes are receiving the nourishment they require but will also help target signs of ageing and fatigue such as puffiness, under eye bags, lines and wrinkles. Look for products formulated with hyaluronic acid and shea butter for nourishment, vitamin c for brightening and caffeine which helps reduce swelling by constricting the blood vessels. Also use a tapping motion with your finger which you apply it. This can help get rid of any excess fluid that’s accumulated under the delicate eye area. In the morning opt for a cooling eye gel. Try Pevonia’s C Evolutive Eye Gel, it’s a personal favourite of mine and highly recommended by the BC Pros. It’s a wonderful, cooling gel, formulated with anti-ageing dynamo Vitamin C, skin saviours’ hyaluronic acid and Ginkgo biloba, as well as green coffee and it’ll have your peepers decongested and depuffed in one swift application! At night choose a nourishing eye cream like Vie Collection’s Chrono Eyes Puffiness-Dark Circles Wrinkles Cream. Yes, a mouthful to say, but a product that does exactly what it says. It’s a beautifully fine cream enriched with moisturising ingredients to nourish the eye area while reversing puffiness, dark circles, and wrinkles! Seriously! it gives immediate gratification thanks to a pearlescent finish that instantly brightens the eye area, and it has definitely calmed my puffiness, lightened my dark circles, and even smoothed my wrinkles! 4. Use a primer under your eyes before applying makeup As you age your skin becomes more prone to fine lines around your eyes. You want to conceal them but it’s best to do so by using a primer first. This will help fill in any lines and make the skin appear smoother (essential if you want to prevent makeup falling into the creases and exacerbating the appearance of the lines!) Use your ring finger and gentle dab your primer over the wrinkles to the sides of your eyes and spread. 5. Invest in a good concealer As well as becoming prone to fine lines and wrinkles, the delicate skin around our eyes becomes thinner with age too! This unfortunately makes it easier to see the blood vessels beneath you skin which is what causes the appearance of dark circles. It’s best to choose a concealer that is lighter than your foundation (this will help brighten your eyes) and one that is yellow based as this will counteract any purple or blue that you may have in your undereye thanks to the blood vessels. Use a concealer brush, beauty blender or your fingers to blend. Try ELES Dual Action Concealer. This anti-aging concealer actually helps to gradually improve skin’s texture while concealing those obvious under eye dark circles. Its moisturising formula provides continuous hydration as well as a natural longwearing finish meaning it lasts for hours without seeping into fine lines and wrinkles! 6. Line the outer edges of your upper lid to make your eyes look lifted Annoyingly as we get older the skin on our eyelids tends to droop too! By using an eyeliner on your top lash line from the middle to the outer corners with a tiny flick at the end (we are talking very subtle cats’ eye) will bring back the youthful shape to your eyes. Just be sure the line is thin as you want it to look natural and not over done! 7. Curl your lashes! While applying lashings of mascara to lashes will enhance your eyes, remember to curl your lashes first. This will open up your eyes for a wide-eyed look. While it might be a small step, it’s a subtle one that can make a big difference so don’t skip on it. Just be sure to apply two coats of mascara after curling. This will help lock the curl in place as well as add volume to your lashes. 8. Add definition and shape to your thinning eyebrows As you age your eyebrows get naturally thinner. By adding definition and shape to them you can completely transform your face and give the appearance of an instant eye lift! Start by brushing your eyebrows so the hairs are sitting naturally, then use a soft, waxy brow pencil like the ELES Precision Brow Pencil to shape and fill in your brows using short, hair-like strokes. Read more on how to create the perfect brows. 9. Reduce your sodium (salt!) intake Believe it or not, too much salt in your diet can affect your eyes and make them look older. Unfortunately, the delicate skin around your eyes is at higher risk of getting puffy the more salt you consume. Extra sodium unfortunately makes your body retain water. This excess water causes puffiness. Aghhh. So, try to ditch (ok maybe just cut down!) on the chips, takeaway and if you’re a fan like me, the margarita’s too! 10. Take a break from screen time We are all guilty of spending hours in front of our devices, but this excessive screen time can actually reap havoc with our precious peepers thanks to the blue light they omit! The thing is screens are a part of our daily lives so while it’s not possible to get rid of them, reducing the time spent in front of them or having breaks in between to rest our eyes can help dramatically. To learn more about blue light damage and how it affects your eyes, click here. 11. Apply cucumbers (and chamomile tea bags) to your eyes It’s no myth, by placing slices of cool cucumber over your closed eyelids for 5-10 minutes will help brighten and hydrate your eyes as well as reduce puffiness thanks to the Vitamin C and caffeic acid. While applying lukewarm chamomile tea bags directly on the eyelids will calm the skin and reduce inflammation. 12. As well as cucumbers, apply raw potato slices to your eyes! That’s right, applying slices of refrigerated potato to your eyes is another fantastic natural remedy to reduce undereye circles and puffiness. The enzymes and the astringent properties in the potatoes also help reduce inflammation as well as tighten the skin too. Genius! 13. Get enough shut eye Lack of sleep can affect our eyes, fact. Afterall who hasn’t woken up with saggy, puffy eyes of a morning when they haven’t had enough sleep? Sleep helps the body renew and repair itself and allows your eyes to rest, while letting that eye cream you’ve applied before bed work its magic! So, it’s time to make sleep a priority. I know easier said than done for some, but I also know myself that I need to practice what I preach, and if I wanted to, I could put down that book or turn off the tv or close my laptop an hour before I actually do each night! 14. Wear sunglasses religiously After all, you want to protect those sensitive peepers of yours as much as possible and we all know the sun is THE no. 1 cause of premature ageing!
Beauty Collective - 7 steps bright eyes

7 steps to bright, wide-awake eyes

by Jo Boyden on Oct 08 2021
If you've had a late night recently, or many like me! your eyes are likely to give it away. The constant late nights I’ve been pulling to play catch up on the work I’ve missed in the day because #homeschooling have my eyes looking forever tired in the mornings. I’m talking the whole shebang. Puffy and red with dark under eye circles. Eek. However, just because I’m not getting enough shut-eye of a night doesn’t mean I’m stuck with this look by day! Luckily with the right products and a few makeup tricks, it’s possible to transform tired peepers to bright, wide awake eyes no matter how exhausted you feel! All you need to do is follow a few simple steps; Use a good depuffing eye gel or creamNever underestimate the power of a good eye gel! It can feel like heaven on your tired, puffy peepers, but more importantly, it has the ability to transform eyes in a matter of minutes. Tired eyes tend to look smaller, especially if the area beneath them is puffy. You can look more awake by applying a good eye gel or cream designed to de-puff your undereye area.Look for products that contain vitamin c for brightening and caffeine which helps reduce swelling by constricting the blood vessels. Also use a tapping motion with your finger which you apply it. This can help get rid of any fluid that’s accumulated under the delicate eye area. Pevonia’s C Evolutive Eye Gel is a personal favourite of mine. It’s a wonderful, cooling gel, formulated with anti-ageing dynamo Vitamin C, skin saviours hyaluronic acid and Ginkgo biloba, as well as green coffee and it’ll have your peepers decongested and depuffed in one swift application! If you are also battling dark, undereye circles we LOVE Vie Collection’s Chrono Eyes Puffiness-Dark Circles Wrinkles Cream. Invest in a gemstone rollerFrom rejuvenating jade to calm and soothing rose quartz, detoxifying Obsidian to purifying amethyst, we highly recommend introducing a gemstone roller into your morning ritual. As well as their many medicinal benefits, they can dramatically reduce puffiness by removing excess fluid around the eyes towards your lymph nodes where it filters out toxins! So clever! To find out more about gemstone rollers and their multitude of benefits click here. Use a colour-correcting concealerWhen it comes to camouflaging dark circle under eye circles, a concealer is by far your best bet. A good undereye concealer can give you complete coverage as well as make you look bright-eyed in seconds! Choose a shade that’s lighter than your natural skin tone as this will help brighten the area so you look like you’ve had plenty of sleep. For the most brightening effect, apply your concealer in a “V” or upside-down triangle shape beneath your eye. Swipe it directly under the eye, but bring it down to a point on your cheek beside your nostril and fill in the entire area. Blend well with a small makeup brush and then finish with a powder to set the concealer so it doesn’t crease.ELES’s Mineral Phototouch Concealer is my secret weapon for concealing my dark under eye circles, and helping me look like I’ve had 8 hours of blissful slumber as opposed to only 5! It’s formulated with Hyaluronic, Squalane, Vitamins A, C & E as well as light-reflective minerals and line filing micro-spheres to camouflage flaws, dark circles, blemishes and fine lines! And for the month of October when you purchase the ELES Mineral Phototouch concealer you get a small concealer brush for free - the ultimate duo for camouflaging dark under eye circles. Highlight corner of eyesAdd a little bit of white eye shadow to the inner corner of your eye. This quick trick can make eyes look wide awake and bright with one little dot of the finger. Equally apply with a small makeup brush.Use a white eyeliner or waterliner pencilTo make your eyes appear instantly wider, invest in a nude waterliner pencil, I promise you you’ll never look back. Simply apply your normal eyeliner (although don’t make the mistake I used to by applying black liner all around your eyes - top and bottom as well as your waterline - as this will only make your eyes appear so much smaller than they are!) then apply your waterliner to the inner rim of your lower lash line. (I use ELES’s Waterline liner). By doing so it’ll immediately open up your eyes as well as make the whites of your eyes look whiter. It works a treat! Curl Those LashesWhile applying lashings of mascara to lashes will enhance your eyes, remember to curl your lashes first. This will open up your eyes for a wide, doe-eyed look. While it might be a small step, it’s a subtle one that can make a big difference so don’t skip on it.Just be sure to apply two coats of mascara after curling. This will help lock the curl in place as well as add volume to your lashes. Pay attention to your browsAdding definition and shape to your eyebrows can completely transform your face and give the appearance of an instant eye lift….really! Start by brushing your eyebrows so the hairs are sitting naturally, then use a soft, waxy brow pencil like the ELES Precision Brow Pencil to shape and fill in your brows using short, hair-like strokes. Next define and ‘lift’ brows by using a white eyeliner as a brow highlighter. Line below and above your eyebrows and smudge it out with a sponge or fingertip. You can also opt to use a highlighter if you don’t have a white liner on hand. Read more on how to create the perfect brows.

by Jo Boyden on Mar 23 2021
Just as we are told to keep up our daily intake of fresh fruit and veggies, thanks to the multitude of vitamins they contain, it’s equally as important to apply vitamins topically to our skin for optimum skin health. Spending more time on multiple devices? The Best Eye creams for screen-tired eyes

by Jo Boyden on May 15 2020
Staring at a screen more than ever since #lockdown? Eyes looking tired? And dark circles more apparent? Increased time in front of your laptop and on your phone can reap havoc with your precious peepers, but why exactly is this and what can you do to help prevent it? Why does screen time impact our eyes? More time in front of multiple screens means an increase in our exposure to harmful high-energy blue light waves. Blue light, if you aren’t aware, is a colour in the “visible light” spectrum” that can be seen by, and therefore have an adverse effect on, our eyes. Spending just two consecutive hours on a digital device can cause eyestrain or fatigue while overexposure to this blue light also suppresses the release of melatonin, the hormone that regulates sleep, therefore disrupting our normal sleep pattern. And we all know poor sleep can lead to premature ageing, especially around the delicate eye area! What can you do to prevent it? There are multiple ways you can aid your eyes including, avoiding screen time an hour before bed, eating a well-rounded diet rich in anti-oxidant and fatty-acid foods and purchasing blue light filters, but if you really want to show them the love, introduce an eye cream into your beauty routine both morning and night. Eye creams are different to your daily moisturisers and serums as they are formulated with specific active ingredients to nurture and repair the fragile area around the eyes – the thinnest layer of skin on our entire bodies and up to 1/10 thinner than the rest of the skin on our face! Their main objective is to target specific eye concerns – crow’s feet, under eye bags and dark circles, delivering brightening and anti-ageing ingredients in a mild, gentle and safe dose. Here are 4 favourite eye creams to tackle your eye fatigue that are definitely worthy of your investment; Vie Collection Chrono Eyes Puffiness – Dark Circles Wrinkle Cream Enriched with the best nourishing ingredients including; encapsulated high molecular weight hyaluronic acid, Botox-like peptides, fatty acids, vitamin c and vitamin B3, this silky cream is inspired by eye-rejuvenating Botox and hyaluronic acid injections to effectively fight signs of ageing and fatigue. Suitable for everyone even those with sensitive eyes and contact lens wearers. “This is a wonderful eye cream, it gives immediate gratification thanks to a pearlescent finish that instantly brightens the eye area and it has definitely calmed my puffiness, lightened by dark circles and even smoothed my wrinkles! It’s truly a fabulous eye cream that is well worth the price tag”. Lisa M Phytomer Pionniere XMF Reset Eye Fluid Formulated with 2 specific biotechnological breakthrough ingredients, marine sugar Oligofurcellaran and blue micro alga, this light and fine eye fluid promises to restore youthful eye radiance in just seven days! From the first week dark circles and puffiness are less visible, eyelids are lifted and wrinkles start to fade. “Since using this product I have definitely seen results! It's been about a month now and I can honestly say I've noticed that the fine lines around my eyes have faded and my dark circles are so much less obvious. Amazing stuff!” Joanne W Phytomer Expertise Age Contour Youth Eye Cream This high performance cream formula corrects crow’s feet while firming up the eye’s contours. Anti-ageing ingredients including fatty acids and moisturising shea butter effectively smooth out wrinkles and brighten eyes while dark circles are lightened and puffiness reduced. Skin appears rejuvenated and younger with every use. “This eye cream seems to do it all; takes care of dryness, puffiness, and lines. My eyes seem to "pop" more than they were before using it. At 52 my eyes want to withdraw, but this cream brings them back out and you have to love that.” Vicky D Pevonia Evolutive Eye Cream This anti-ageing eye cream deeply nourishes and renews the delicate under eye area in multiple ways. Formulated with a powerful blend of anti-agers including hyaluronic acid, vitamin A and glycolic acid, it firms, smooths and hydrates dry, crepey skin. “This is the best eye cream I ever used. I absolutely love the texture, not too light but not heavy either. Keeps my eye contour hydrated all day and I actually stopped using a concealer around my eyes as I simply don't need it anymore! I started to have really deep wrinkles around my eyes-tried so many different creams-but the wrinkles just kept getting deeper and I always had a dry looking eye contour at the end of the day. Well after using this cream for let’s say a week I saw a huge improvement in my eye contour! Highly recommend this cream!” Demi

Q&A – Can I use my moisturiser as an eye cream?

by Jo Boyden on May 14 2019
You’ve been told to invest in an eye cream but you aren’t sure why you should fork out the extra dollars, after all do you really need to use a separate cream for your eyes? Will your moisturiser not suffice? You could indeed use your moisturiser as an eye cream but it’s definitely not advised and we are here to explain why.In short, eye treatments whether it be creams, gels or serums are specifically formulated to target and care for the delicate area around the eyes, the thinnest layer of skin on our entire bodies! In fact, the skin under our eyes is up to 1/10 thinner than other facial skin so it’s crucial to care delicately for this area to avoid any damage.Like a moisturiser, an eye cream’s main objective is to deliver brightening and anti-ageing ingredients, however in a milder, gentler, safer dose. Moisturisers tend to have a much richer consistency in comparison to their counterpart which if applied under the eyes can prove too much, resulting in irritation, allergic reactions and milia.Eye treatments also tend to be targeted to specific eye concerns – crow’s feet, under eye bags, dark circles instead of the huge array of facials concerns a moisturiser is targeted too, so it actually saves time and money in the long run! Also some ingredients that often appear in eye treatments, not so much face moisturisers (for example Ginkgo Biloba, caffeine…) can offer quick and temporary fixes to problems specific to just the eye area. The bottom line is that eye creams are essentially facial moisturisers that are modified for use on the more delicate skin around the eyes and let’s not forget this skin ages faster than the rest of your face so there is no time like the present to start looking after it correctly!

Your skin through the ages: Understanding your skin and choosing the right products to prevent premature ageing

by Jo Boyden on Aug 28 2018
When it comes to ageing, nothing reflects it more than our skin. From the silky smoothness of a baby’s complexion to the lines and wrinkles of mature lady, here’s what to expect through the decades, and what you can do to help prolong your youth and prevent premature ageing!20’sOnce you reach your twenties it’s easy to fall under the false pretence that since your teens are behind you, so are those pesky pimples! Wrong! While your skin may have settled (as have those hormones) it’s still producing oil. Also news flash! Your body actually stops producing collagen once you hit 25! You know collagen, the protein which provides elasticity to the skin helping it to appear youthful, glowing and vibrant! So it’s important to exfoliate daily to continue daily collagen renewal. What you may need: Opt for natural extracts in light-textured, non-greasy formulations in order to keep pores clean and clear. Also, use a broad spectrum UVA & UVB daily sunscreen – just remember you're never too young to start wearing sunscreen!Try; Organic Essentials Line; Gentle Exfoliating Cleanser, Hydrating Sunscreen SPF 3030’sAgeing really begins at 30. Fine lines develop as collagen and elastin start to break down, and our delicate skin under the eyes begins to thin. Skin generally becomes drier, quicker. Broken veins may start to show up as tiny red dots, and towards the end of this decade, age spots and brown pigmentation marks, or 'sun spots', may appear. Under-eye puffiness may become a problem, taking longer to subside after you wake. What you may need: Effective youth-prolonging skincare to strengthen, smooth and rejuvenate. Hydrating Moisturisers formulated with marine collagen, Eye Creams & Gels.Try; Age Correction Marine Collagen Cream & Intensifier, Age Correction Eye Contour, “C” Evolutive Eye Gel. 40’sDeeper lines begin to etch around the mouth and eyes, furrows appear on the forehead and circles under the eyes may grow into pouches. Most women's skin becomes noticeably drier. In the run-up to the menopause, and during this phase, skin may also become more sensitive. What's more, skin loses its resilience due to a breakdown of elastin and collagen. What you may need: Your daily regime should embrace products that offer specific benefits to counteract skin problems such as: anti-aging, sensitivity, hyper-pigmentation, Eg. Soothing serums to protect capillaries, lip and eye care, deeply repairing and resurfacing products.Try; Micro-Retinol Line; Eye Renew Conceal & De-Age Treatment, Lip Renew Plump & De-Age Treatment, Propolis Concentrate 50’sBy now, skin starts to acquire true 'character' in the form of fine wrinkles, and the lines you develop in your 50’s and 60’s may deepen into folds. This is because, post-menopausal, there's much less oestrogen being produced and without oestrogen, skin becomes thinner and more fragile. It is also less able to retain moisture and the production of collagen and elastin slows down significantly. In your 50’s skin tone is also likely to become more uneven, with an increasing number of 'sun spots'.What you may need: Products that minimize the appearance of lines, contain phyto-estrogens and protect the skin from the sun or even fade sunspots.Try; Stem Cells Phyto-Elite Line, RS2 Line, Lip Renew Plump & De-Age Treatment, Lumafirm Eye Contour Lift & Glow, Renewing Glycocides Cream 60’sYour skin has a hard time retaining moisture and natural oil production slows down so skin is very dry. Cell turnover continues to slow - a process that started in your forties so skin is generally duller than before. Between the lack of oil, the loss of collagen and elastin, and the dryness, dark spots can really start to stand out. Areas of scaly roughness often seen on fair-skinned women that can be a precursor to skin cancer. What you may need: De-ageing products with wrinkle relaxers such as vegetal botox, exfoliating products with aha’s, products rich in collagen and elastin, sun protection and pigment fading productsTry; Myoxy-Caviar Timeless Repair Line, Renewing Glycocides Cream, Lumablanc Cream

Is stress making us look older?

by Jo Boyden on Aug 16 2017
Without a doubt, and you probably don’t need a blog post to tell you this, stress is written all over our faces! You can see it in your skin tone, texture, elasticity and the absence of a youthful glow.It would be easy to say, “stress less” but we know that’s easier said than done! However, if we understand why stress affects our skin as well as change a few habits, we will be able to manage the stress and in turn look a whole lot younger!Dark CirclesWhen we are stressed our blood flow increases and the fragile capillaries beneath our eyes become engorged so dark circles become more obvious. Drinking more water can help, getting more sleep will certainly improve things, while gently massaging a good eye cream or gel to the delicate eye zone will to help increase blood flow. Apply a soothing eye gel around the eyes and slide your middle and ring finger around the orbital bone (slide outwards on the brow and inwards beneath the eye). We recommend Pevonia C Evolutive Eye Gel, the ginkgo biloba, this helps increase the circulation while soothing and hydrating the eye contour.Mini-menopauseWhen we are stressed our body creates cortisol, which can lead to a drop in Oestrogen, much like it does when we are in menopause. Less Oestrogen means less collagen and less moisture. Nourish your skin from within with hydrating food such as fish, nuts, avocado, sweet potato, olive oil and cucumbers to name a few. And “up the hydration” with products rich in collagen and hyaluronic acid. We recommend Pevonia Power Repair Line for bringing back the bounce and youthfulness of dehydrated skin.WrinklesAs our hydration levels decrease our collagen and elastin production decreases. The skin cells that form these vital proteins take a siesta and meanwhile our expressions seem to become indelibly etched into our faces. Maintaining hydration is key but to restore the damage already caused it might be time to get out the big guns and reboot the skin cells which have become lazy. We recommend Pevonia Micro-Retinol line to help rejuvenate the skin from within.Itching, flaking and hivesStress leads to inflammation which may lead to rashes, rosacea, eczema flare ups and changes in skin moisture. It’s vital to maintain your skin’s barrier function with filmogenic products that trap moisture and to reduce inflammation in the skin. Take cooler showers and baths, avoid synthetics in warm weather and apply soothing products such as Pevonia Propolis Concentrate and Reactive Cream which provide both anti-inflammatory properties as well as restoring your protective acid mantle.A Heavy JawGrinding teeth and clenching of the jaw are common symptoms of stress. Unfortunately, these habits can cause the jaw muscles to work overtime. This can result not only in damaged teeth, but also a heavier than usual jawline, as the muscles become larger with the grinding action. Be mindful of this habit by relaxing the jaw whenever you think of it, and massage the jawline every evening while cleansing your skin and applying your moisturiser. Take time out to completely relax with a warm bath, a short nap or just doing something that distracts you from over-thinking! Even though you might only be able to spare 10 minutes your body trains itself to be more relaxed over time and will thank you.Hair LossStress can cause sudden hair loss by literally flipping the switch on the hair follicle’s growth stage from an active to a resting phase. Once the follicle enters this resting phase prematurely, it stays there for about three months, after which time a large amount of hair will be shed. Avoid over-styling hair and using too many heat appliances. We recommend a weekly hair mask using the Micro-Emulsion Massage Oil Anti-Stress. This not only helps stimulate a healthy scalp, but leaves hair soft and conditioned too.Adult AcneAcne isn’t just for hormonal-crazed teenagers. Many adults can’t seem to outgrow it because of stress hormones. Cleanse your skin thoroughly every morning and evening and exfoliate every couple of days to keep skin clear and pure, we recommend Gentle Exfoliating Cleanser for mild breakouts or the Clarifyl Line for more serious adult acne. It purifies, calms inflammation and deals with pesky breakouts pronto.Clearly there is a connection between how we look and how we feel and think. The good news is that we can get to the root cause of our stress and manage it!
